  • IntelliEye technology was developed by Microsoft from the ground up to improve the optical mousing experience, delivering the fastest and most accurate mouse performance. Today, all other optical mouse manufacturers use the same chip, provided by the same supplier. These mice can only capture up to 2,500 pictures per second, while Microsoft's IntelliEye optical sensor captures an unprecedented 6,000 pictures per second -- delivering the smoothest, most precise and fastest tracking speed to-date
    Ambidextrous design:
  • Both left- and right-handed users can comfortably experience the superior performance of Microsoft's new IntelliEye optical technology
    Five programmable buttons:
  • All five buttons, including the wheel button, can be easily reprogrammed to perform popular commands in your favorite applications with a single touch. For example: The same button can mean "Cut" in Word and "Insert Comment" in Excel. The side buttons are set by default for easy forward and back Internet navigation.
    Accelerated scrolling:
  • Users can move through documents quickly without having to click on the scroll bar. Accelerated scrolling reacts to how quickly users roll the wheel, allowing for faster movement through Web pages and computer applications. This allows you to cover more area in less time, increasing scrolling speed on average 28% (on three or more pages)

5 of 5 best mouse i've used for years Tuesday, July 15, 2008
A Customer from new haven, ct

i've used this mouse for about 8 years. it works great and easy to use and also in somewhat cheap price range. (i'm in design related field) then, last week, i felt i want to get another mouse for my wife. i researched a good 2-3 hours trying to find a multi-button, easy to use, and not stupid looking mouse but really nothing out there is a good simple design and functionally solid. so in the end, i bought a same mouse for my wife after 8 years. it is quite ridiculous that after 8 years, the technology WITH DESIGN have not improve much or even just standing still.

    5 of 5 Absolutely the best mouse I've ever used/owned/had Sunday, June 11, 2006
A Customer from San Diego, CA
They say this has been discontinued, and if so, get a few now while they're available; you'll thank that day. The most precise, comfortable and useful mouse I've ever used. The two side buttons are easily manipulated with your thumb and 4th finger: back and forward between web pages visited. Right and left buttons are traditional as well as is the wheel. It's optical so there's nothing to clean and the only thing it doesn't work on is a glass table. I've owned 4 of them and it's only because a friend uses it and is so impressed that they keep talking about it ad infinitum. I end up giving it to them as a "dinner gift" and they are bowled over. It's impressive

5 of 5 The best optical mouse. Wednesday, April 02, 2003
    ermac from Fairfax, VA
This is it. This is the mouse you have been waiting for. Comfortable, precise, skip-free optical technology. The extra buttons on the sides make for great back / forward shortcuts while web browsing, as well as extra keys to use for games. I use this mouse both at home and work and have reccomended it to others.

    5 of 5 Best mouse I've used in 13 years! Saturday, August 31, 2002
    Dennis from Fremont, CA
I've been working as a computer professional, bench tech/network administrator for more than a decade and this is by far the best mouse I've ever used! The scrolling wheel and forward and back buttons, as well as the perfectly functioning optical tracking makes this the perfect mouse. NO CLEANING! This is a simple no-nonsense perfectly fucntioning mouse. I've heard that this mouse has been discontinued so I think I might just buy 3 or 4 more of them as backups. Doesn't work too well with Windows XP Pro, the cursor jumps around on the screen from time to time. Time to reformat my drive and put Win2K back on it. ;o)

5 of 5 Excellent prorammable mouse Monday, May 06, 2002
    Doso from Washington, DC
I bought this mouse about a year ago. It is the perfoect mouse for those internet surfers or gamers who need maximum delivery in the mouse. The side buttons can be used to surf web pages back and forth or be used in games such as Half-Life Counterstrike for crouching and walking functions.

    5 of 5 Best Mouse I've used in 15 Years Monday, May 06, 2002
    racedayreporter from Orange Co, CA
Microsoft has done another fine job in their MOUSE world. The Optical mouse is awesome, never having to worry about getting lint stuck on the mouse ball...NO BALL !! The scroller could be a little finer tuned, but you can adjust that with the software that comes with it. Very ergonomic, which helps with the wrist and hand twisting. I've tried the Logitech brand, but that's not near as good as the Microsoft mice, even the standard one with the scroller. That one works great as well.
