5 of 5 Solid performance & very reliable Saturday, March 10, 2007
A Customer from Elkhart, IN

I love this design. I have both 256Mb and 1Gb JumpDrives and I hope Lexar continues to make this style with the rubber boot, as I'll be buying this design for as long as they make them (is it too soon to pre-order a 1Tb JumpDrive?). I use mine a lot and, except for the product name being nearly worn off the front, it's as good as new.

5 of 5 This drive is rugged! Saturday, February 17, 2007
A Customer from Shreveport, LA
I bought this from Buy.com about a year ago, not because I needed a sport drive but because the price was right. I am not out hiking or mountain climbing or doing anything that warranted my needing anything but a typical flash drive. Anyway, about a month ago, it accidentally went through the washer and the dryer and still worked great. Then, about a week ago, it must have fallen out of my purse because my significant other found it in the driveway where it apparently had been run over and also the temp had been below freezing for a few nights. I figured it was DEAD but just now plugged it in for the heck of it and lo and behold, there was all of my data. When I took the cap off the part you plug in was a bit squashed but I used a screwdriver to bend it open a bit more and that is all it took. Amazing. I have been loading stuff from my desktop to a new laptop, going back and forth and it works like a charm. If you are considering buying this item, go for it!!!

5 of 5 Great Product Monday, September 25, 2006
lee from Pittsburgh, PA
I love the case which fits on my key chain so I always have it with me. I combined this with the Roboform passwords to go software and now I have a "key" with me at all times and can safely access all my passwords on any machine wherever I happen to be. Only problem (as with all USB drives) is it sticks out from machine and most PC's have the front USB port near the floor. A co-worker wanted to see my screen up close and stepped on my Jumpdrive injuring it badly. I was able to coax my data out of it before it died but I immediately replaced it with another. Keep people away if you use these things!

5 of 5 Great Jump Drive! Friday, September 22, 2006
A Customer from Edmond, Oklahoma
This is the only 1 Gig jump drive I have ever found that will mount after being hooked into the keyboard. All others have to connect directly through a 2.0 computer USB outlet. Not this one though. No caps to lose either. The case it fits in is fool proof and has a loop through which it can be tied to a string. Best jump drive I have ever owned.

5 of 5 Well protected, no-lose cover Friday, July 28, 2006
Canary from Santa Fe, NM
This is not my cheapest or most attractive flash drive, but it is my favorite. It hangs from my work badge lanyard (neck chain) and I just pull the device off when I need to copy files, and then I push it back into the holder. No little cap to lose. Drop it? No sweat. The rubber casing cushions the drive more effectively than any other method I've seen. Never had a problem with it in months of use. Love it!

5 of 5 Simply the best Tuesday, June 20, 2006
Patrick from New Jersey
Everything the below reviewer wrote, plus you can buy extra rubber caps, if needed. I constantly fiddled around with the memory card in the cap and it evenually broke. I've owned mine for over two years with no problems, went through 1 replacement cap. You can buy 5 for $4.99 on the lexar site under accessories. Here's the link. http://store.lexar.com/index.cfm?category=23&subcategory=24&productid=JDSPCAP-5&bhcp=1 Patrick

5 of 5 Best Durability Ever Tuesday, June 13, 2006
A Customer from Nashville, TN
I own a 1GB and was very concerned when I left it in the pocket of my jeans. Upon returning home I asked the wife if she seen it. She said no. I hurried to the laundry room and the clothes were in the dryer... i thought that was it.. I retrieved my JumpDrive and proceeded to check it out. It apperaed undamaged.. the test was to plug it into my USB port.. Low and behold, the drive worked like a charm! I don't suggest putting it through the spin cycle but if it happens (which it did twice to me) you can rest assured that it will likely work.

3 of 5 Not a bad USB flash drive, but there are better... Sunday, June 04, 2006
Doctor Dan from NJ, USA
This Lexar JumpDrive Sport works as advertised, although the overall construction of the product leaves a bit to be desired. While the rubber boot is a clever way to secure and carry the JumpDrive Sport, over time the rubber develops a crack where it attaches to the keyring and eventually breaks. Getting a new one from Lexar can be an exercise in futility... even if you want to buy a replacement they frequently don't have them in-stock. As mentioned in a previous review, the plastic shell of my JumpDrive Sport began to separate after approximately six months of use, and I had to glue it back together with some cyanoacrylate adhesive. As a replacement, I recently purchased a Sandisk Cruzer Titanium 2 which has a much better solution instead of a cap or rubber boot: the USB connector can be manually retracted into the metal shell via a slider.

5 of 5 Best Cap/Keychain of Any USB Drive I've Seen Monday, February 27, 2006
fishbuystuff from Mt. Pleasant, MI
I previously owned a Sandisk Cruzer Mini and have worked with many different USB drives such as the Cruzer Micro, Lexar JumpDrive, Memorex, Jogr, etc. Of all these devices, the Lexar JumpDrive Sport is easily the best designed.
The rubber cap that attatches to the keychain is amazingly sturdy and effective. When I use the thumbdrive I just pop it out of the cap (and its so small outside of the cap, it fits in the tightest spaces on computers without unplugging other USB devices) and plug it in. Good to go!
The reason I don't currently own my Sandisk also is the fact that I lost it in a public computer. It had lanyard attatched to it...that just didn't cut it. If it was plugged in down low or on the back of the machine, I'd forget about it. The JumpDrive Sport though...I don't go anywhere without my keys in my pocket, so I take my keys out, pop the drive out, leave the keys on the table. Then, when I'm getting ready to leave the computer I'm working at, if I don't have my keys in my pocket, I remember why they were out in the first place...my JumpDrive!
One thing to be aware of though, is that if you like to toy with the rubber cap you can stretch it out and make it useless. I work in a tech shop and we have a handful of the 512mb JD Sports, and the other techs apparently liked to stretch the caps a bit...now they don't fit in the caps anymore. My personal JumpDrive Sport, however, is 6 months older than those drives (about 15 months old at this point) and I don't play with the rubber cap at all and it still fits snugly.
I've recommended the JumpDrive Sport to everyone who comes to me for advice on USB Drives, and if mine were to disappear today, I'd go out and buy another one ASAP. Great product!

5 of 5 A Great, Rugged Drive!! Monday, February 13, 2006
Kevin B. from Brookings, SD
I have two of these: A 1 Gig model that doubles as an mp3 player when I attach the Jump Gear Player and a 512mb Jump Drive (which I always carry in my pocket). They're rugged, reliable drives - I have run the 512mb drive through the washing machine (by accident) at least three times without effect and without losing a single bit of my files. Have had one of the caps break, but you can order packs of 5 caps from the company's website. Best investment I've ever made!

4 of 5 Nice Jump Drive Thursday, November 03, 2005
Joe from Staten Island
I got this for work and school and it really gets the job done. It’s small when the caps off but when the rubber cap is on it’s the perfect size. The rubber cap can be a pain to take off in a hurry but it really keeps the drive in good condition and protects it from the elements. It would be nice if I came with a neck strap but other then that it’s a great drive.

5 of 5 Sweet product Wednesday, September 07, 2005
xx from Brevard, NC
This is a wonderful jump drive if you are looking for something that has plenty of memory. Because of the "sport" feature, the outside rubber protects the drive from being damaged or scratched. Hanging it to your keychain, and never have to worry about losing it or leaving it somewhere. I love it!

5 of 5 Easy to open, easy to use Saturday, June 18, 2005
A Customer from Tulsa, Ok
Some reviews I read of this product indicated it was not easy to open. I too tried pulling off the rubber tip from one end. That is difficult, but if you read the instructions, you only have to push of the thumb tab at the other end and it slips out easily. The difficulty in not being able to pull of the rubber tip from the crescent-holed end that attaches to your keychain is a security feature. This is a great product.

5 of 5 Really takes a beating and keeps working :-) Tuesday, May 24, 2005
cjames from Kempner, TX
I recommend the Lexar 1GB USB Jump Drive Sport. I've been using it mainly as a MP3 player with the optional cap. It tolerates heat and being dropped. My boyfriend has the same drive that he uses for data and I accidentally washed it and dried it while doing laundry because I forgot to check his pants pockets.... and you guessed it!!! it still worked even after all of that abuse. So the drive has a golden seal of approval from me :-)

5 of 5 Nifty small and quality Thursday, May 12, 2005

Great product, good weather resistant cover (Rubber thing that goes over the unit). Its been beat up and kicked around and still works well. No issues with data integrity. Works well in my MP3 Player as well.

5 of 5 Good Memory with added benefit of use in the MP3 P Wednesday, January 19, 2005
DZ from Albuquerque, NM
I had a month wait for this module to be restocked. For $72 it was still worth the wait since I purchased the Lexar SPort MP3 player also. The memory performs well. The little plastic wrap-around case is a pain since it needs to be completely removed to use the memory. Recommend this memory because it has the double use of working in the Lexar sport MP3 player.

5 of 5 Fast! Tuesday, January 04, 2005
kb9t from Schaumburg, IL
This drive is fast! In my opinion, it is faster than another popular USB 1GB disk I own. Small and secure enough to actually put it on your keychain without worrying about it breaking off.

You can't beat 1GB. I haven't had any problems with the device. The rubber cap that protects it is also a good idea. It protects the device from damage.

5 of 5 Great item! Saturday, December 18, 2004
Dean from Chesterfield, VA
It writes acceptionally fast and reads just as fast. I xferred 60 files totalling 950MB in less than 3 minutes thru a USB2 port. I am impressed with the speed and portability of this jump drive. Well worth the cost.

5 of 5 Don't leave home with out it! Friday, October 22, 2004
A Customer from Spring Texas
I remember when our industry first came out with a $4995.00 5 MB drive for the S-100 bus system. Today I couldn't afford the power for it. This device is a dream come true. Just plug it into your USB port and download anything into it. When you need a backup, or just an extra copy of important data, it's in your pocket. Small size, low cost, and a great warranty! What more could you want?

3 of 5 Huge, but not tough Monday, October 18, 2004
Nicholas Hutchind from Lynchburg, VA
I got this little drive because I'm in school and need to transfer big files around at times. When I got the drive, I noticed that it had a seam around the side. The mechanism to hold the drive to your keychain goes into this groove. Anyway, when I got the drive, the seam wasn't very tight and within a few days the casing of the drive split apart revealing the circuit board inside. It still worked, but that's not what you should get for almost $100. If the casing would stay together, I'd give this drive the highest rating possible.

5 of 5 Great new toy! Thursday, October 14, 2004
tb from portland, or
Small, fast, and a good price point. It comes with a 2 year warranty too! No drivers needed for XP or 2K - if USB is compiled into your Linux kernel the drive will pop right up too. Buy one and start enjoying it today. The MP3 add on isn't a bad deal either - what's another $40.00 ?
