Authors Chris Cadman and Craig Halstead had already collaborated on several projects--a fanzine called "Jackson" and three books about the King of Pop--before embarking on this encyclopedic listing of Michael Jackson's musical contributions. In a running alphabetical list, Cadman and Halstead attempt to document every song that M. J. touched over the course of his lengthy career, every song he sang, wrote, produced, or inspired. (This last aspect seems difficult to track, but the authors assert rigorous fact-checking and have a separate "Rumor Has It" section for songs of unverifiable connection.) For such a huge figure in popular culture, there are relatively few books about Jackson in print, but even with more competition, FOR THE RECORD is sure to be of interest to fans.
