This release contains a collection of some of the best "musica nortena," the Mexican music originating in the northern regions of Mexico and the immigrant communities of Texas. A "nortena" ensemble usually features an accordion, a bajo sexto guitar, bass, and drums, and the music is a blend of Mexican ballads and familiar European rhythms (polka, waltz, etc.).
