 Editor's Note
Based on the book DON'T KISS THEM GOODBYE by real-life psychic investigator Allison DuBois, NBC's popular television series MEDIUM blends crime-drama with the supernatural for a smart and chilling spin on the detective genre. Patricia Arquette (TRUE ROMANCE, STIGMATA) stars as a fictionalized version of DuBois, a family woman and aspiring lawyer who has been haunted all her life by strange visions and dreams. When she realizes she has the capacity to communicate with the dead and to read minds, Allison puts her unique skills to work for a sympathetic district attorney (Miguel Sandoval) while depending on her husband (Jake Weber) and two daughters (Sofia Vassilieva and Maria Lark) for moral support. Dark, moody, and creatively original, the series' debut season is presented in its entirety with this collection of episodes.

| | Professional Reviews | Ultimate DVD 4 stars out of 5 -- "[W]hile the crimes Alison investigates usually hold the attention, it's the warmth and gentle humour of her home brought to naturalistic life by a well-chosen group of exceptional actors, both young and old..." 08/01/2006 p.102Sight and Sound "[T]his is an extremely well-scripted and tightly plotted series." 10/01/2006 p.90 Bigfanboy 9 of 10 Now is a time where supernatural and otherworldly concepts are all the rage in film and TV. Movie studios are clamoring for the next big ghost storyline. But Medium draws it's influence from a real person. The show is based on the life of a research medium named Allison Dubois. Apparently the real-life Dubois has been using her psychic abilities to help police solve cases, and has been for some years...With a storyline like this, the possibilities are endless. There is also potential to go into some very dark places, and see how that affects this sweet mother of three. Even if you don't buy into the concept of this woman, you'll most likely find the show very interesting in theory. Give it a shot, and you might just discover one of the best drama series to come along in quite sometime. - Mark Walters
