5 of 5 Great product and worth the price Sunday, March 23, 2008 Charlie from Alexandria, VA
I purchased this hard drive to take with me as I travel for work because of its weight and dimensions. I am very pleased with it so far. It is a great product and it was very easy to setup. It is literally just plug-n-play if you have XP (and Vista, I imagine). Also, it runs VERY cool (after hours of use it is still cool to the touch).
Just a reminder that you need to have two USB ports to run the device (1 for Power & Data, 1 for just Power), but, a simple USB hub will do the trick if you only have 1 USB port. Also, I purchased the Case Logic PHDC-1 Small Hard Drive Case to carry it. It is the perfect size, and lets you carry the USB cables and a USB hub with plenty of room.
I haven't yet installed the backup software, so I can't tell you how that works, but, the rest of the drive is well worth the money.
I would definitely recommend that you get this if you want a solid drive to take with you. The only thing that would make it better is if they made one that supports firewire. Was this review helpful?

This drive is very small, about the size of a deck of cards, which is very nice. Setup seemed to be straight-forward. It works swimmingly as a USB storage device with or without the included software.
In my case, though, the installation software was corrupted. It took me about 30-45 minutes to wade through the customer support page to file my complaint. Once processed, though, Maxtor sent me a compressed version via email the next business day.
This product requires two USB ports, one for just power (I use a 1.0 slot) and one for power and data (I use a 2.0 slot). This is not the drive for laptop users with only one USB port. Was this review helpful?

The hardware is as good as anything else on the market in terms of external hard drives. But the software included in this product is awesome. Set-up of one-touch back-up of your hard drive is very easy. Setting up imaging of your computer's internal hard drive is very simple too. The price is a little higher than the average price for this product at other vendors. But Buy.com's quick delivery made it worth paying the slightly higher price. Was this review helpful?
