My first GPS and I never thought I would use it as much as I do. Great for trekking to unfamiliar places & even going to places I know how to get to. I love watching the estimated time of arrival to places I go all the time. Easy to use & well worth the money!

This Maestro really does all I need it to, but I wish the map was newer than 3Q2006. Also, the points of interest are almost useless because of old and incomplete information. At first the satellite linked up within seconds, but then it started to take 2+ minutes when starting cold. Magellan tech support says that is normal. Sometimes I think the route chosen isn't really the quickest, but that could be related to out of date map. On the good side, screen, graphics, voice modulation and intuitive programming are terrific! I especially like the chime about 50' before a turn. For the price, it's a good deal. However, you might be able to find something just as good with a recent map for the Buy.com price plus $79 for the latest Magellan map.

I bought several refurbished products from BUY.COM and all came like new. This GPS is no exception. Fast shipping. I wanted a GPS to get me from point A to point B and this is a great product at a great price for this purpose. Loud volume, easy to use displays, NOT announcing street names is not an issue as there are other indicators. CON's: Maps is older thus Points of Interest information is older. You can buy updated maps from Magellan or other electronics stores at around the $79 price tag.

I was somewhat cautious about purchasing the Magellan for 2 reasons: 1) reconditioned; and 2) it does not announce street names. Both concerns were silly! This is a great, great value that offers much more than my neighbor's Tom Tom. Easy to operate and the integration of AAA information (from points of interest to emergency road info) is well worth the price. Though the Magellan does NOT announce street names, the guiding voice is accompanied by a "bell sound" which tells you EXACTLY when you should turn. Also, the notices that you are approaching a maneuver come early, and are repeated several times. I ordered two of these and will be getting a third.

This is the first GPS I ever had. We use it for a moving company truck and have not had a problem yet. Although the map is older (especially in FL) it hasn't caused us any trouble yet. I am sure we will update the map eventually.

I'm very happy with it ! Great price, Shipped promtly, Charged it up and that was it. easy to use. Comes with car charger,a/c charger, usb cable, mounting bracket, easy to read display both day and night. I thinking of buy another one !

I bought this GPS for under $90. I charged it overnight and used it the next day without printing the on-disc manual. It was very simple to use and worked just fine. I understand that the maps are from 2006 but that is fine with me. If you travel in an area where there has been a lot of road construction you might want newer maps but I have had no problems. I like the size of the screen and the sound level of the voice commands. I'd say it is a great value for the money if you just want a basic GPS to get you where you want to go.

Works great ...I think its new even thought it said refurbished... Easy to use ... Easy to set up....Free shipping always good from buy.com... They should give one free map upgrade because the unit and maps are from a couple years ago... You can not go wrong with the Maestro...

This is my first GPS system for my vehicle. I have been using another GPS system with my laptop, but this is so convenient and small. Don't let "small" fool you, though, the 4.3" wide screen is plenty big. I would recommend this unit to anyone looking for a portable GPS. Even bought one for my sister-in-law for Christmas. Makes a great gift!

The unit was in new condition when I received it. It is very easy to use and it is scary how accurate it is. My daughter is starting to look at colleges and we have been taking a lot of weekend tours to look at schools. This GPS is saving a lot of time and arguments with my wife. Take the stress out of getting to where you are going with this GPS.

PRO's: The GPS works very well, it saved me a lot of time at an unfamiliar airport during a driving rain. CON's: The maps are out of date, but not by enough to warrant me paying $75 to update them. Also, it would be nice if you could set a current location as a saved address. BUY.COM service was excellent as usual. I'm a satisfied customer.

This worked great. The way I see it, why buy brand new when so many are available refurbished! That just means there's a likelyhood you'ld have to have a brand new one replaced for some mfg. defect or whatever. It's a get-MORE-than-you-pay-for deal. Not a scratch on it and nobody could tell it was refurbed. I bought this one for my daughter as a surprise thanks for driving me around all the time - she loves it!

This unit works very well and is user friendly. The only complaint I have is that the preloaded maps aren't as accurate as I would like. I suppose this is true for any GPS, but once in a while you get routed in an illogical manner or incorrectly. This refurbished unit was the same as new, packaging and all, and came with a car charger as well as AC. Overall I'm very happy with this purchase, especially considering the price.

I am well pleased with the performance of the Magellan GPS unit. I used it on a 500 mile round trip soon after receiving it. It performed extra well and was very easy to use. I would reccomend it to anyone wanting such a unit. The price was also right. James Edwards Childersburg, Alabama

If you can still buy this for $90 do so immediately because it will soon be gone. The magellan is really fast in acquiring gps signal (about 1-3 seconds even when it is cold). It also reroutes pretty fast and has a good battery life which you won't need most times as it can work while it is plugged into the cigarette lighter (unlike some other gps devices who can't). One thing that is not perfected is that it does not continue to say turn right in 100 feet, turn right in 50 feet, in 10 feet but only does it once like in 100 feet and then gives you a simple bell when you are suppose to turn. Overall, it gets you where you need to go quickly and easily and is very cheap compared to others.

This Magellan 4000 is great! I don't mind it being refurbish cause I know it's the same as new. It guided me to the right place when I had an interview in another town for a job. I was confused, the HW say this is the right turn off, but the unit told me to continue driving in another direction on the HW, I realize the GPS was right when I talk to the toll person (crossing a bridge) if I was going to the right destination, she said it's faster to my destination. This GPS save me from being late to an job interview. BTW... I got the job. Thanks Magellan 4000!

This product is easy to use. No failures or missteps. I am using the device as delivered. Next I will upgrade to the new firmware and see if I can tell the difference. Thus far I have not been able to determine which map set was delivered. Magellan shows a 2008/2009 update for $79.99. Probably the device did not come with this version.

A great product for the price. Pros: Great screen size, easy direction mapping, and storing of last address, etc. One of few units at its price that actually highlights destination to be either left or right side of the road. Cons: While the unit does have a memory card (SD) slot, you cannot download points of interest (POI) or other map details like hiking trails, etc. No voice recognition or Bluetooth connectivity, Perhaps my biggest gripe would be the price of updating the onboard Database and map ($70) Thats almost as much as the unit itself. Summary: Good value for money and it certainly does a little more than the basics but expensive to keep up to date. Buying experience was better than promised

Just wanted something to get me from point A to point B with no complicated hassles.Nice big screen and the voice vloume is more than accurate. The refurbed unit I received was as good as new and I would definitely reccommend.

I've purchased several items at Buy.com and didn't hesitate to make this purchase. I ordered two (2) of the Magellan Maestro 4000 GPS units as Christmas presents. For that reason, I can not offer a review for the performance of these units, but I know others that have this exact unit and are very happy with them. That's why I jumped at the chance to get them as such a great price. My order was delivered in two (2) days, was packaged very well to protect the units, and I'm eagerly looking forward to giving them as gifts at Christmas. This may not be much help, but I wanted to write to encourage others to use, or continue to use, Buy.com. I certainly will.

Bought this for my wife to keep in her car. Love the huge screen. Can not be beat for the price.I have a Garmin in my car and I like the Garmins interface better, but the Magellan is not bad and it has a much better screen.

The time on the GPS is wrong. Sometimes it doesn't read my current location and when i do a search for public government or school buildings it doesn't bring up the ones I need, only a few ones. I have to google it first then punch in the address. It's annoying.

I can't say enough about this GPS. It works fantastic and has quite a few "bell and whistle" features that are pretty amazing. Not to mention you are paying $89.00 for a unit that sold for $499.00 just one year ago! Simple to use right out of the box and very simple to program. Buy.com got it to me in about 3 days with free shipping. I am very satisfied with this purchase and would reccomend it to anyone with any level of technical ability.

I bought this GPS to check it out before giving it to my 85-year-old dad. This is the perfect unit for him, big screen, easy to program, the female voice is loud and clear. It also has a feature that i really like that other brands don't have - it chimes just before you need to make your turn. I can't tell you how many times I've turned too early or to late with my old GPS. Now bear in mind that there is one caveat that comes with buying a refurbished unit. You are not going to get a 2008 map with a unit that was built 2 or 3 years ago. (Duh.) New maps are available online, but they are pricey, but a firmware update for this unit is available from the Magellan site for free.

Its well worth it for what you are paying. Unit has a nice big 4.3" screen and its very easy to use. Doesnt have tons of fancy features but it gets you from point A to point B and has POI(points of interests), trip planer and a AAA feature. I ve used Garmin StreetPilot c330 in the past and so far the Magellan is as good or i would have to say better than the c330. The only negative so far is that you CAN NOT get free maps updates but you gotta buy them. As of 10/2008 that update costs $75 off their website. From what I ve googled it seems that most GPS companies make you pay for your maps updates. Also my unit came with a car charger even though it says that it is sold separately under the Features List/Power. Oh and yeah it was shipped pretty fast but thats just how buy.com operates and if you wanna get it fast make sure you dont order it over the weekend or a long holiday:) I would recommend it to whoever wants just a normal straight forward GPS with a few nifty features and nothing extra special.

I ordered the product and requested Economy shipping and was pleasantly surprised when the product arrived within 4 days. The GPS works exceptionally well and the display is easy to read. Quick to set up out of the box. It is a re-furbished unit but looks like a new product. I would recommend this GPS to anyone looking for a good, dependable unit.
