"From Renowned Developer PlatinumGames Comes a Highly Stylized, Over-the-Top Brawler Created Exclusively for the Wii."

From renowned developer PlatinumGames comes a highly stylized, over-the-top brawler created exclusively for the Wii. A terrorist group known as the Organizers has taken over Varrigan City, forcing all citizens into their insane "Death Watch" game, where "kill or be killed" is the only rule. As Jack, a mysterious game participant, players will set ingenious traps, use imaginative tactics to pummel opponents and battle in vicious hand-to-hand combat with daggers, bats, chainsaws and more using the arcade-style controls of the Wii Remote. While the spectacular mayhem ensues, enthusiastic sports announcers entertain the spectators with humorous commentary detailing the game highlights. The bloodiest, most creative kills earn the most points and increase the chances that Jack can save the terrorized city - let the games begin!

"If you play this game the way you should -- by slaughtering victims in the most foul of ways -- it ends up being a non-stop highlight reel." Game Informer
"MadWorld is what you'd get if you stuck Pink Floyd's "The Wall" video into the mouth of Quentin Tarantino and pushed play." GameDaily
"This is exactly the game the mature, hardcore Wii crowd has been craving..." Worth Playing

MadWorld for the Nintendo Wii Review

Let me just start this off by saying that MadWorld is mad fun. I mean, sure, you've played games like this before (Beat people up, eat floating food to heal yourself, fight end boss, repeat) but never quite like this, which brings me to the question-did Nintendo REALLY allow this game to be made on their, "Ooh, it's Grandma's turn now," console? Are you serious? We're talking about the same Nintendo, right? The one that once made the blood look like gray guck in the original Mortal Kombat for the SNES? We're talking about that Nintendo, right?...read the full review

It's hard to look at the Nintendo Wii as being a console that caters mostly to casual and younger gamers after playing MadWorld. Simply put, this is the bloodiest and most violent game I have ever played and I have done things to people in this game that are so depraved that it crosses over into utter lunacy...Varrigan City has been beset by terrorists who have cut off all access to the city and sprayed the citizens with a biological agent that will kill them in short order. The only way to get an antidote is to kill another person. In this setting, the DeathWatch games have been opened, a modern day gladiatorial set of games that awards points for killing as many people as possible, or a select, stylishly executed few. Enter Jack, complete with gruff demeanor, a chainsaw attached to a prosthetic arm and a penchant for eating onions...At its street sign impaled heart, the game is a beat 'em up. Once Jack enters an area, he has thirty minutes to score the requisite number of points needed to unlock the boss battle. Points are scored by killing; however the most points are scored by killing folks in incredibly violent ways...There are plenty of jokes being told in MadWorld but I can't shake the feeling that the biggest joke is on us. After all, Jack's motivations for being in the games are noble but we're just in it to see how violent and graphic we can make the next death. In a story where those putting on the DeathWatch games are the villains, it doesn't paint us in a very good light that we're so eager to jump in and get our chainsaws bloody. Once the final cut scene runs and the ultimate motivations for the games are laid bare, it doesn't take much to realize that the players, and the villains, aren't all that much different. For a game that is so entertaining, because of, or in spite of the copious amounts of gore, having a reason to pause and think at the end is the cherry on top of a brutally exciting, blood soaked sundae. - Brandon Cackowski-Schnell
