5 of 5 Portable and compact Friday, February 09, 2007 Diver Dave from Lancaster, PA
I had a previous set of LTB Headphones that I was glad I lost. They were the version with the external sound card for lap tops that had too many connections to go bad and sort of cumbersome. The Magnum's are far superior in terms of ease of use and reliability. Since the sound card is inside the headphones, there is only one cord coming from the left side instead of a "Y", and fewer connections to go bad. I think the sound quality is the same as the last pair I had with the external sound card: in other words "fantastic". I still had the semi hard case from LTB which I like for packing the headphones in my carry on. It is around $20.00 but money well spent. The headphones lay flat.
Just a note on the software. Make sure you set up the included software for a 6 speaker listening environment, and do not be afraid to use the equalizer. I gave a slight boost to the midrange and an even higher increase to 2 of the highest frequency bars (treble). If you want, try fooling around with the volume levels on center, left and right, etc. speakers. The only thing I did, though, was boost the sub woofer level to max which I think helped a little. For me it is LTB all the way. Go for the Magnum, definitely! Was this review helpful?
