Fresu's clear, lyrical tone perfectly complements Bley's gorgeous compositions and the playing of saxophonist Andy Sheppard, drummer Billy Drummond, and bassist Steve Swallow. The wittiness of titling six tunes after bananas ("One Banana," "Two Banana," etc.) belies the depth, complexity, and pure lyrical beauty of the music. |
