Editor's Note

The story of three roommates at a private school for girls, LOST AND DELIRIOUS centers on Mary (Mischa Barton), who is shy and lonely, having spun on a downward spiral ever since the death of her mother three years before. But when she arrives at prep school and meets her new roommates, Pauline (Piper Perabo) and Tory (Jessica Pare)--fun, happy girls--Mary begins to open up. But just as Mary begins to come out of her shell, she discovers that her roommates are lovers, and, not knowing how to talk about it, she bites her tongue and is left feeling more isolated and alone than ever before. To complicate matters, Pauline and Tory break up. Tory insists that she likes boys. And Pauline becomes an emotional wreck--acting out and changing into a dangerously fragile time bomb. With its complicated plot, delicate issues, and convincing adolescent characters, LOST AND DELIRIOUS is a powerful and disturbing look at first love. The first English-language film from director Lea Pool, the film is based on the novel THE WIVES OF BATH by Susan Swan.

Most reviews you read about this movie say its a Lesbian love affair. But its really not and if you watch and listen, you see that, they potray that and tell in the movie that all this is about is LOVE. Not being gay or straight, not about labels...its about Love. This movie takes place in Canada at a boarding school for high school girls. It features a freshman, nicknamed Mary Brave or Mouse, going to the school for the first time. Right away shes introduced to her new roommates, a girl named Victoria(Tori) and a girl named Pauline(Paulie) who are both seniors. The 3 girls get along very well together as friends. But what Mary comes to figure out is that, her two roomates, Tori and Paulie are in love with eachother. And because they're both girls, they have to secretly portray their love for one another, the only other person who knows the truth is Mary. Mary accepts the fact her new roommates are both girls in love with one another. This movie takes you through their intense relationship and how strong their love is, until Tori gains a huge fear of being labeled as a 'lesbian' when her younger sister walks in the room and sees something she shouldn't of. Tori goes to all measures to defend her reputation of just a normal boy crazy girl... Its really heartbreaking, because it shows in this movie that LOVE is the highest point of all things..and once you're up there looking down on everyone else, you are there *forever* because if you move...you fall... and that becomes literal. Its a beautiful portrayel of what love really is.. there is no labels, there is no gay or straight..love just is, you love who you love and if you love them so strong and yet can still deny them in the end, its the most heartbreaking thing. This is a great movie, if you watch with open eyes and an open heart, you'll learn alot.

I just watched this film and I am in a state of awe. Not only is the movie a 5 star, but the sound track is one of the best I've ever heard. This is not your traditional love story - it is mournful and wrenching, and a work of art as well as a work of the heart. Watch it!

Director: Lea Pool. Starring: Piper Perabo, Jessica Paré, Mischa Barton, Jackie Burroughs, Graham Greene, Mimi Kuzyk Studio: Lions Gate Films Léa Pool’s (Set Me Free) new film Lost and Delirious vividly captures the insular world of the private girls school and the pangs of intense first love. Young Mouse Bradford (Mischa Barton) is sent to an all-girls' boarding school by her distant, unconcerned parents. At first lost, she soon finds friends in her two senior roommates: zingy and ferocious Paulie (Piper Perabo) and charming Tory (Jessica Paré). The three become close friends, during which time Mouse realizes Tory and Paulie are sharing a secret, passionate affair. Mouse accepts this, but the rest of school isn’t so open-minded, and when Tory’s younger sister catches the two, things begin to spiral downward. Tory, determined to fit into her family’s ideals, starts dating boys while Paulie goes ballistic, fueled to reclaim her lover no matter what it takes. Adapted from Susan Swan’s turbulent novel "The Wives of Bath" by screenwriter Judith Thompson, Pool’s first English-language film is a steamy, accomplished and ambitious follow-up to her understated, autobiographical Set Me Free. Thompson’s script removes some of the novel’s more violent and fantastical elements but retains its taut emotional core, Romeo and Juliet-like passion, and a whole lot of tension. There’s certainly a heaping helping of feverish, gorgeously shot sex between the attractive young leads – so much so that a Sundance programmer referred to Lost and Delirious as “eye candy for girls.” And Pool proves herself to be a director Hollywood should part waves for.
