Lorex Sg6153r Refurbished Mini Color Indoor/outdoor Camera With Night Vision - SG6153R

The wide angle is great for a low end camera. I paid quite a bit more for this and was quite happy overall. But don't expect night vision high quality. Because of the low profile 100 foot cord (looks like a modular phone cord) I first had this to view the back yard. This worked out fine in daylight but not at all good at night despite having a 13 watt light near the back door. I relocated the camera to my carport which has a 70 watt sodium light and it's works just fine for that small distance as long as the light remains on. Since I leave it on all night that's not a problem. I'm thinking of getting this for mom so she can see who's knocking at her door and when the mail carrier arrives and such. I hate to say it's better than nothing but you really don't expect $100 quality from a $30 camera anyway. But if you want 420 lines of resolution or better you will pay a lot more. The microphone is better than you might expect for the price and does an OK job of filtering out wind sounds. In fact I use the microphone in my home security DVR setup. It might be worth getting this just for a cheap mic! The one drawback seems to be that the image has some noticeable distortion depending on how it's placed with respect to light and how big your TV screen is. NEVER place a cheap camera in extreme sunlight!
