In this regard, they can be seen as an important bridge between the mainstream alternative rock scene of the 1980s and the jam band explosion of the '90s. As such, the group's influence has extended to an unusually wide cross-section of bands. Combining rock, reggae, ska, folk, and rap, Sublime's genre-mixing and good-time attitude had much in common with many of the acts represented here, making this collection a true celebration rather than a cheap cash-in. The best tracks are those that the artists choose to make their own: Fishbone's "Date Rape" takes the original's hyper pogo groove and kicks it up several crazed notches, while Jack Johnson puts his unique surfer stamp on "Badfish: Boss DJ/Medley." In addition, the presence of contemporaries G-Love and No Doubt, as well as predecessors Los Lobos and Mike Watt, reinforces the fact that Sublime's music struck a universal chord. | Producer: Mark Johnson; Mike Scheftner; Chris D.; Pennywise; Michael Franti; Ozomatli; Mike Watt; Spearhead; Avail; The Greyboy Allstars; Norwood Fisher; Josh Fischel; Chris Xefos; Eddie Ashworth; Michael Pollack; Andrew Weiss; Robert Carranza; De Andre Gibson; Bra | Engineer: Mike Scheftner; Phil Kaffel; Darian Rundall; Alan Weatherhead; Nick Addison; Brendan Dane; Eddie Ashworth; Robert Carranza; J.
