5 of 5 Great deal Thursday, November 06, 2008 Tony from Philadelphia, PA
my college apartment needed some sound, so i talked to a friend who already had these and he said they were amazing. he wasn't lying. i got them for $215 after $40 MIR, free shipping ($40+ from other sites) and it came the NEXT DAY. it took a while to hook up the first time, but it sounds very nice even from a bad source (onboard sound card from computer) and gets nice and loud. the sub hits nicely and when its at full volume its easily audible outside the building. at first they were borderline quiet, but setting the EQ to bass boost brings them into their own. definitely recommend these Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great System Sunday, October 05, 2008 felix2813 from Maryland
Nice compatibility with my ipod with 5.1channel as well as my desktop without installing any sound card, the green line in the Y adaptor came with the system basically does everything. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Hot product..great price Friday, October 03, 2008 A Customer from Valdosta, Georgia
The z-5500 is a fantastic sound system. It has features that are very useful and some that are not. Overall I am pleased. The only drawback is that the woofer is huge. You won't be stuffing this one under your desk, so plan for another location. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Excellent sound! Tuesday, September 30, 2008 A Customer from Long Island NY
Pros: As a computer sound system it's Amazing. I can't believe the sound outta this little thing.
It also lets you connect your TV audio through optical port. The TV sound is good but this system rocks with music.
Has a coaxial connection and remote control.
Cons:
Optical port connection does not have snug fit. Price keeps going up. Over all this is an excellent system a must buy for music lovers. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Awesome product Monday, September 29, 2008 T from KS
Got this a few weeks ago when it was on sale and a MIR.
Sounds great
Great value
Looks fairly stylish
Only gripe of course is the wires that come with 5.1+ setups. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Rocking sound system! Sunday, September 28, 2008 A Customer from California
I really love how it sounds while blaring at low level volumes. My only regrets are that I needed to purchase a few extra cables and that a lot of my source materials don't really take advantage of the surround sound. I had to situate the control center further away than I like since the cord is short but the remote takes care of most issues I have with distance. The best use has been while playing games on my Ps3/360. When I play mp3s off the ps3 using the digital audio output it sounds amazingly loud! I would recommend these for the price I got them at. 5 of 5 Surprising Performance Wednesday, September 17, 2008 Doug from MI
I just purchased the Z-5500 as an upgrade from the Logitech Z-2300. I upgraded to get an optical input as well as surround sound. The Z-5500 has double the wattage, and the sub is 60 watts or so more powerful. The most immediate difference I noticed when I began playing songs and video was that the sub was not pumping out as much bass as the Z-2300's. Even with the Sub cranked to Max, it did not deliver the same ridiculous amount of rumble I have been accustomed to. Living in a dorm room, I don't get many chances to crank the system loud, but I loved the fact that I had to turn down the sub level on the Z-2300.
Overall, I am glad I purchased the Z-5500 (especially for the price buy.com was offering it for), but I was dumbfounded as to why the sub, which at 180 watts has the potential to deliver some serious power, is toned down in this Logitech offering. Was this review helpful?

I just got this shipment today and was very excited to unwrap 500W off the box,
First thing first, Easy to set up, But
CONTROL STATION\POD has major problems as It starts and than it blanks out,
So Googled around and found out that many users face the same problem after sometime with the control POD,
I am lucky that I discovered it right away,
I'm returning this system as Reliablity is my main goal,
Its not worth it unless you care for power and performance too much ignoring the long lastingness Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Best PC speaker system Tuesday, September 02, 2008 Jesse from Atlanta, GA
This is the best sounding PC speaker system available. Great for a medium sized room. My PC setup includes a top of the line sound card. (Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty Champion).
Special sale price, Free Shipping and a generous manufacture rebate made this a must buy.
Logitech ROCKS!! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Satisfied Customer Thursday, June 26, 2008 A Customer from San Jose, CA
I am quite happy with this purchase, with only minor issues:
- The subwoofer is larger than I realized, and the instructions warn you to keep it at least a couple feet away from sensitive equipment (like the computer you want to connect it to, or external hard drives), which means it couldn't live in the corner with my computer.
- Also, since there's a bedroom on the other side of the wall, I find I have to keep the global volume at the low end much of the time, because it is so loud. It's awesome when I can crank it to watch a movie! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Top daily performer Saturday, June 07, 2008 A Customer from philadelphia pa
Simple, effective addition to Home Theater PC. Clear, strong volume and sound, only drawback is a slight lack of highs. These don't have separate tweeters, but do an admirable job for daily use. Main control unit offers good range of connection inputs, right now I have my pc hooked up through 3 stereo jacks, HDTV digital output through coaxial, and I still have room for another stereo input for occasional MP3 player input and another optical input that I can use for a receiver or PS3. 5 of 5 Logitech Z-5500 rules! Monday, April 28, 2008 Ron. from New York City
I was hard pressed to find a speaker system for my PowerMac G5 WITHOUT a use or installation of a sound-card. Although M-AUDIO makes sound cards for APPLE PowerMac and APPLE Intel-based systems, they are slow in catching up in supporting the current MAC operating system. The saving grace for the Z-5500 is that it has an OPTICAL AUDIO input which my G5 has an input/output as well. Although a sound card is needed to exploit games that are made in different sound formats (an advantage for PC people), I had no problems switching to Dolby Music mode to get the desired effects while playing games. All you need is an Optical cable and your ready to go.

The advantage that Optical Audio has, is that it delivers the cleanest digital sound without the worry of an interference to lower the quality or interrupt the signal. For PC Guys, you have the advantage of both going Optical and/or Digital Coaxial.

The sound is incredible. I was very impressed with the different kinds of setting you have with the Z-5500. The system instantly detects in which sound, DTS or Dolby, DVD/Blu-Ray Disc was mastered in. I was watching Michael Mann's HEAT the other day and neighbors thought that there was an actual shoot-out on the block. Suffice to say, this system kicks butt.

The best thing about this system is that you can use it for any systems you buy in the future with or without the use of a sound card as long as you have OPTICAL/DIGITAL COAX in your system. Logitech knew this based on digital technology that gives longevity in your investment of the Z-5500. Was this review helpful?
1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 5 of 5 Nice Product! Sunday, April 27, 2008 jl from Moorpark, CA
As I write this on 4/27/8, I've not even scratched the surface of what this set can do. What I can say is that they're very well built and the quality is great. The subwoofer's so freaking heavy you'd better watch your back. While I didn't necessarily need this much of a set, the old adage of do it right the first time made this choice a no-brainer. 5 of 5 Great Buy. Tuesday, April 22, 2008 A Customer from Baltimore MD

5 of 5 Clean sound and very loud! Friday, April 11, 2008 J. Chartier from Warren, MI
Easy to set up and connect. You may use the speaker wires that came with it or use your own. There is no need to splice any wires because both the speaker and sub/amplifier use traditional speaker connection (not rca) so you can use any traditional speaker wire to connect the speakers to the amplifier. Very clean sound and of course if you turn the volume up it will be extremely loud. Has a nice wireless remote that can not only change the volume level of the system, but the front, sub, and center speaker channels with the press of a button. The unit that sits on your desk to control the volume and other settings can take a standard headphone and microphone jack for your headset. You can connect this system to your pc with a sound card that supports an optical cable(how I use it) or with the standard colored jacks for sound.

4 of 5 Great sound Saturday, April 05, 2008 A Customer from Nashville, TN
The speakers arrived, packaged perfectly, and looked wonderful.
Got everything plugged in, hit the switch, and voila, no sound! Sadly disappointed for a few minutes. Turns out just have to go into the software for the sound card and change some settings. Then had to change the settings on the Logitech main controller, and then got some awesome sound out of these speakers.
Very good sound once it gets going. And with the deal on Buy.com, with free shipping, can't beat it. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Simply....AWESOME!! Wednesday, April 02, 2008 Jez from Independence, KY
I bought these speakers to replace an old set of Klipsch 4.1 promedia speakers. I wanted good quality speakers, because of how nice my old ones were. These speakers blew me away. They were ok on the onboard audio, but when I plugged them into a SoundBlaster Audigy 2....WOW!! Pure power and sound bliss!! If you are looking for quality speakers at a great price, you can't beat these!! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 "Wow" Monday, March 31, 2008 mooch37 from Beaumont, Texas
That was the first word that came out of my mouth after I got this baby all setup. I've only owned one other 5.1 speakers before and they were decent, but these will blow you away. I'll start off with shipping. Incredibly fast! I was expecting 4-5 days but I got it in 2 or 3 (I forget exactly how long it was, but it was much sooner than expected). Quality: A+. Something I always wanted to try was the THX sound test so I popped in SW:Ep 3 and rumbled the whole house with the 500 watt bass. This is truly an amazing product and if your considering a 5.1 setup, I would recommend this. I also do games so occaionaly I do have to unplug them to plug in my headphones, but that doesn't take but 2 seconds. If they were 2.1 headphones, I could just plug them into the sound controller, but like I said, it's not a big deal. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 AMAZING PRODUCT! Monday, March 31, 2008 A Customer from Seal Beach, California

Received everything on time and at an excellent price. The Z5500's are more than I expected and along with my Asus Xonar 7.1 sound card I now have a awesome sound system for gaming and music on my system. 4 of 5 Ok not great Saturday, March 29, 2008 T-Bone from Carp
The control panel knob sticks and was broken from the start. Didn't realize it until it fell off. I figured it was the way it was designed to wobble. I finally pushed it back on and now it is hard to turn the knob. The panel shuts off randomly and you have to turn it back on. Sounds great. Bass is very loud. Max volume doesn't give you more bass but more treble. Needs more optical connections as there is only one and mostly anything surround sound takes one. Great price though compared to other retailers. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 PHENOMENAL Tuesday, March 25, 2008 K Dizzle from Minnesota
My eyes are getting jealous of my ears recieving the harmonic glory of these speakers. No kidding these speakers really shouldn't be this cheap. Actually, why are you even reading this right now when you should be in audio heaven like me. These speakers are the sound of perfection. They have zero flaws in my eyes and couldn't recommend them enough. I bought a home theater set of sony speakers for 200 bucks a few months ago, and these speakers will end up costing me less after the rebate comes through, (also if you sign up for the revolution card you get an additional 50 dollars off!!) and the sonys sound like fisher price speakers compared to these hogs. They may seem like computer speakers but honestly this set is more versatile than anything I've seen, and it has the exact same amount of inputs as my sony reciever has. Pure Bliss. GREAT BUY. 5 of 5 GREAT speakers Thursday, March 20, 2008 A Customer from Fairfax, VA
Second set of logitech speakers. Oh boy are they amazing. I've got my HTPC hooked up to em now through a sound blaster audigy2 zs gamer edition card. Sound is great. Planning on hooking up my PS2, cable box, and wii up to it, as there are enough inputs on this puppy for all of those. Sound quality is excellent on any level and the bass is better than any home-theater-in-a-box I've ever heard. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Buy...!! Wednesday, March 19, 2008 Candidash from CA
I was surprised when this item was shipped next day to me but the surprise continued with quality sound output from the system. It took me about 30 mins to hook it up with my laptop and parallely with my DVD player and Comcast box and they all sounded amazing. It was easy to toggle among all input just by using remote.
Dolby Pro Logic-II creates the surround 5.1 sound from Stereo input like iPOD/Laptop. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Great value! but has its cons ... Tuesday, March 18, 2008 A Customer from Boulder, CO
Pros:
1. It is a great value.
2. Has several kinds of inputs (Coax, Optical, 6 ch analog, multiple single channels etc).
3. The ability to switch between these various inputs via the remote and the digital controller, is very useful.
Cons:
1. Really hard to wall mount these since the satellite speakers all rotate 180 degrees in one direction only, so u cannot mount them at the corners of a room without actually mounting it at the edge of the 2 walls at every corner in the room (i.e you cannot mount it flatly and expect to rotate it midway to point towards you in the room).
2. The center speaker needs to have a screw removed and put back, to switch from a desk mounting angle to a wall mounting angle and this screw came with its head hard waxed/sealed.
Other thoughts:
Do not expect non-5.1 channel sound to blow you away, there is only so much that can be simulated (maybe a real good sound card could make the difference). Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Absolutely the best Friday, March 14, 2008 Mark from Pembroke Pines, FL
Extremely easy to set up and use. It would have been nicer to have wireless rear speakers (had to run the wires under a floating wood floor), but overall they sound like nothing else. Nice balance between treble and bass...not overpowering either way. My only complaint is the speaker stands: They only spin ONE DIRECTION 180 degrees. If you need to mount these to the wall, its nigh impossible to angle them both inward towards the center of the room (best you can accomplish is one pointed in (or straight ahead), the other straight ahead). They've even epoxied the screw in the base to prevent you from removing the stands. Beware unless you're planning on placing them on a table. For my application, I removed the epoxy, removed the stand, cut off the plastic stop on the stand and reattached the stand to the speaker to get a full 360 rotation from the stand. Overall Great set of speakers and cant beat the price! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Deal Wednesday, March 12, 2008 A Customer from Portland, OR
I've had my eyes on these speakers for awhile now, but couldn't justify spending $300-400 when I've already got a great set of PC speakers (Klipsch promedia 5.1s) so when I saw this deal I had to jump at it.
I've had them for about 2 weeks now and have no complaints...booming bass and clear mids/highs. Playing them side-by-side with my older Klipsch speakers you notice that the logitechs don't quite balance as well, but they get just as loud with no distortion.
Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase. The built in decoders were my primary draw (so I don't always need a PC around to do full surround sound) and they work great! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Good Product as expected from Logitech Tuesday, March 11, 2008 A Customer from Atlanta, GA
After reading about these speakers there were some negative and some positive but I decided to take the plunge for it. After receiving it my first impression was that they look awesome.
Hooked it up to my computer and it was just amazing. For the price you cannot beat it. The bass is good, could be a bit more clearer but still good.
Got a friend hooked on it and he bought one immediately. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 z5500: Great Performance but Pricey Monday, January 14, 2008 Christopher N. from Pullman, WA
The z-5500's seem to be a great set of speakers. They are quite a bit larger than I anticipated, and the sub is a monster.
They connect to the sub via traditional speaker wires and are detachable. The wires themselves are of decent length with longer wires for the back 2 satellites. The main console connects directly to the sub itself which can be a little inconvenient if you want to position the console away from where your sub is.
The speakers support hardware decoding of DTS and Dolby, but only if you use the optical or coaxial connection. If you connect the speakers to your computer via the 3 stereo 6 channel direct connection (ie plug it into your sound card) you must rely on either hardware decoding on your sound card, or software decoding on your audio software.
The console itself comes with a couple of effects including the ability to simulate 5.1 surround from stereo audio. It sounds fairly good too. The bulk of the sound still comes from the center channel, but the surround is noticeable.
As for the overall sound, it is fantastic. I am running the speakers in conjunction with an X-Fi Fatality Pro sound card and it sounds good no matter what I am doing. The bass is very deep and ported, though I would have preferred sealed. You will probably want to point the port away from you or towards the ground otherwise it tends to drown out the higher frequency sounds even at a low volume.
I recently did a full on volume test for each of the speakers and they do start to distort at about 90% volume, though, unless you had these speakers outside in a noisy environment, it would damage your ears to listen to it at the volume anyway. The bass rattles everything in my 2 story apartment and annoys the neighbors very well.
All in all, I am satisfied with the speakers. Buy.com had a good price on them (210$) and they more than meet my DVD and gaming needs. I would wager you could use them as an inexpensive home theater system and not be disappointed.
Apart from the distortion at extreme volumes and price these speakers are great.
Overall Rating: 4.5/5 Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Z5500's Get It Done Wednesday, January 09, 2008 "Gordon Freeman" from Spartanburg, SC
The holidays were a good time for tech shoppers this year. The Missus and I jumped into the HDTV pool with an awesome deal on a 40" set, I grabbed Logitech's G51 5.1 set-up for my office and then we decided (after hearing the G51's hooked up to our Samsung HDTV) to grab the Z5500's for our greatroom system.
Why the Z5500's? Other than the fact they had more than enough wattage to fill up the greatroom with volume and impact their Digital Optical hook-up capability was a major sell. Way easy to get the Z5500's connected to the Samsung -- one end of the Digital Optical cable out of the speakers and one connector into the HDTV, making hooking up as easy and complimentary as using HDMI for other connections.
The other big plus is the wireless remote and the multi-funtions that it employs. If you want a rundown on all the specs of the system and whatnot you can get it many places, here and on the net, but we want to say this: we got the speakers with a holiday price (and free shipping) which made the speakers only 55% of MSRP and we couldn't be happier for the money. The set has all the fidelity we require and more than enough volume and settings to satisfy our environment. Everything sounds better -- music and movies. I can't think of a drawback for the money and our needs. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Logitech Z 5500 Speakers Wednesday, January 09, 2008 A Customer from Bladenboro NC
This speaker system has certainly lived up to my expectations. I have for a long time contemplated there purchase and am very pleased I at last took the plunge. The clarity and sound are impressive with enough volume to please even the most discerning. The only thing that could improve the system was if the system was wireless. nonetheless for the price and the excellent speed of dispatch and delivery what more could a customer want. Well worth considering for a class system. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Speakers Monday, January 07, 2008 A Customer from Sacramento, CA
I have this set up in my bedroom connected both to my computer and to a small DVD player. The sound quality is excellent. The setup is very easy as well using standard speaker cables, so using existing in-wall wiring was a snap. You won't be disappointed with these. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Powerful, easy to use, and very flexible system Sunday, January 06, 2008 Scott from Euless, TX
These speakers are amazing! The subwoofer handles pretty much everything you can throw at it, which is generally not the case in most computer speaker systems. The satellites are crisp and blend with the subwoofer quite well. The ability to connect multiple sources to the decoder is a very nice feature as well. The "bang for the buck" on these speakers is quite high! Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Love system, would like to see a couple of 'change Friday, January 04, 2008 A Customer from Mooresville NC
Pro's: Very powerful system, nice sound.
Pro: Lots of speaker wire included to run the speakers (unlike most).
Cons: Speaker wire is very thin.
Con: Bass seems a bit low
Con: Remote only seems to work when in a small arc to control unit, not a full 180.
Although on the bass I have not mounted the speakers on the walls yet, but the bass seems a bit low compared to other systems that I have with less power then this one. I have the bass set all the way up, have not found a bass boost yet. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great multimedia speakers, but ... Wednesday, January 02, 2008 Misiak from Daly City, CA
These are great multimedia speakers for the price, but I was little disappointed, how they play the music, connected to the CD player or other source. I gave them 5 stars, because they have great sound for what they are built for (PC, Home Theater, Games...), but if you are looking for speakers for listening the music you have to look somewhere else. If you are looking for speakers for your PC this is the way to go. Very easy to operate, solid built, enough inputs, great sound, and good value for the price. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great pc speaker set Wednesday, January 02, 2008 A Customer from Philadelphia PA
Shipment came in literally next day, was well packaged and quite heavy due to sub. Note that the sub is about the size of a small living room ottoman. Sounds good when plugged in to onboard audio, but is a bit lacking in the higher frequencies as there are no dedicated tweeters on this set, bass is also more rumble than punch. The speakers really shine when paired with a Creative X-Fi card ( or equivalent audio card) that allows you to tune and shape the sound more to your liking. Included speakerwire was sufficient for a small room setup, and overall setup was easy. Control module to sub connection wire could have been longer though to provide more setup/spacing flexibility. Overall a good solid set that can rival many HTIB sets with sufficient inputs for daily use. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 OK but Wednesday, January 02, 2008 B from port charlotte, fl
Works OK but I tried to use the sub woofer on my JVC 7.1 receiver but found that the only connection to the sub woofer or any speakers from the Logitec is from the remote control receiver unit. It would be nice if there was a connection. Now I have to buy another set of sub woofer and speakers for the JVC. Was this review helpful?

If you have high standards, these are the speakers to buy. They blew me away, especially the subwoofer. The Bass it produces is almost as powerful as my Klipsch 15" sub which cost me $1500 by itself. Even though I don't game that much, my games sound great. Movies sound fantastic as well. Definitely worth the price of entry. On another note,
This is my first purchase from Buy.com. I was really impressed. I received the item within 3 days, even though I selected 7-9 day ground shipping. Processing must have been done within hours of my order...amazing. I have ordered from many other online retailers, but none of them were as fast. Thanks! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 THE system Tuesday, January 01, 2008 hcaspary from Panama City, FL
For the $ - there is no comparison. I own Klipsch / Bose systems and this sounds like those costing 2-3x more!
You will hear and feel the difference...enjoy..... Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Awesome speakers Tuesday, January 01, 2008 A Customer from MD
I ordered on the 18th and it came on the 19th! Amazing! Speakers are the best I've seen for the price. I can't turn it up that loud because my daughter keeps telling me it is too loud. LOL
Sub is HUGE and HEAVY! Speaker wires are not attached to speakers as others have said. Very happy with my purchase at Buy.com. Was this review helpful?

I bought this and it works as advertised. Just after hooking it up I bought a JVC receiver that's 7.1 and also streams music via USB and allows many devices to be controlled. It had no speakers so I thought I'd use the Logitech. Problem: The Logitech sub-woofer doesn't have a jack for input. All speakers are controlled from the Logitech control unit. So it looks like I'll have to have two seperate systems (Just what I didn't want. I'm up to 6 remote units at least!). The Logitech is used only for TV sound although it has 2 other inputs, but no am/fm receiver and no USB input.

5 of 5 These are worth the money! Monday, December 31, 2007 Houston2007 from Houston, TX
I just got the Logitech Z-5500 on December 27th 2007. It's worth every penny. I got the 1st Generation 360 without HDMI. I got Monster Cables for Xbox 360. I used the Optical Cable from 360 and iPhone to the analog inputs. I also got the HD-DVD addon connected to the 360. All the audio outputs to option s of choosing Dolby Digital, DTS or WMA. Of course I chosen DTS (Big DTS Fan) I played Transformers, 300, Batman Begins, Fast and the Furious, Happy Feet, and Superman Returns. I also tested DVDs that has DTS Audio such as War of the Worlds and I, Robot as well as Dolby Digital audio of Spiderman 2.1, Matrix Trilogy, Star Wars Episode III and Titan AE. Movies in DTS on DVD sound awesome. Spiderman 2.1 actually was the best sounded Dolby Digital DVD in my collection. Playing 360 Call of Duty 4 is awesome too. I have played the Trailers from Xbox 360 Video Marketplace 720p trailers most them have 5.1 audio well as some TV Shows. I stream audio and video file from my computer to 360 and some of WMV HD has 5.1 Audio too. The analog input from the iPhone sounds good too expect the same with any iPod. I put these speakers to the test and it passed all with flying colors. I highly recommend it. Also I'm using these for the bedroom and buying a 2nd system for my office so I can connect using the 6 Channel direct connect. I want to do that then put a Blu-Ray Drive and HD-DVD drive maybe a Combo if it's feasable. Then the computer can handle of decoding the Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, and DTS HD Master Audio. That's what make these speakers worth it not just the Optical or Coaxial but the 6 Channel input. This probably why Logitech never made a model to replace the Z-5500. Was this review helpful?
