The webcam you want for your Mac!
There's a good chance your Mac already does video calling right out of the box.

Thankfully, the Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro isn't just any webcam. With Carl Zeiss optics, premium autofocus, a 2-megapixel sensor, high-definition video (with recommended applications), and our exclusive RightLight 2 technology, this is the webcam that delivers image-perfect detail and clarity.

Carl Zeiss optics and autofocus keep images razor-sharp, even in extreme close-ups. To deliver image-perfect detail and clarity, the Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro webcam combines Logitech's premium autofocus technology with Carl Zeiss optics.

The Logitech webcam uses a voice coil motor for its autofocus system, instead of a stepper motor. Focusing is fast and fluid - crisp even in extreme close-ups only 10 cm from the camera lens. Logitech's autofocus system compensates for changes in image-edge sharpness and refocuses images in less than three seconds. And through its exclusive collaboration with Carl Zeiss, Logitech ensures that the lens meets the world-renowned Zeiss standards for design and manufacturing to achieve superior sharpness in a compact, lightweight design.

The 2-megapixel sensor helps the Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro webcam capture video images in high resolution. It is assisted by Logitech's RightLight 2 technology, which enables the webcam to adjust intelligently in dim or harshly backlighted situations.

We've been fans of Logitech's webcams for years, and this latest model still manages to impress. The build quality and styling of the Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro are superb, with nice design touches such as the light that lets you know the camera is active showing as a smart white ring around the Logitech logo. The mount is intelligent, too, happily hooking over a desktop monitor or laptop screen, or sitting on a flat surface....read the full review

3 of 5 Top Performer with no flexibility Monday, May 04, 2009
Harold from Hamptons, NY

Great quality product as usual with Logitech. Apple Tax applies because there are few choices out there, and this is considerably more expensive than a PC compatible Product. No software comes with it. Simple Plug and play. Skype works great, but it is limited on customization. No zoom feature enabled through software. Good quality lens and Audio pick up is excellent, no feedback. I see no reason why this more expensive compared to what I have on my PC Desktop & Laptop for half the price on products also from Logitech. It is not that significantly better.

5 of 5 Works flawlessly on my MacPro Friday, December 19, 2008
A Customer from Seattle, WA
I bought this so I could do Skype video conference from my MacPro. Other Logitech cams that I own and use on Windows machines weren't compatible with Mac. This one is. It's a perfect camera for video conferencing. The audio pickup is superb and I've had people tell me my video image is 'like HD'. All I had to do on my Mac was plug it in and Skype recognized the cam.

5 of 5 Terrific! Saturday, December 13, 2008
A Customer from Clementon, NJ
We bought this to provide our daughter with a way to see and talk to her son (11 months) from her office. It works great! The picture and sound are very clear. We are very happy with our purchase. Plug it in and you are ready to go.

Just plug it in, and it works great, if you already have Skype on your computer. There are no settings to make, which is good.

5 of 5 Just what I needed Friday, December 05, 2008
Ken van Wyk from Alexandria, Virginia, USA
I use audio/video chats frequently for work and for collaborating on my book projects with my co-author. But since I keep my Macbook Pro "docked" with a big monitor/kbd/mouse combo when I'm in my home office, the built-in camera didn't help me. I tried an older Logitech Quickcam Pro 4000 for a long time, but the driver software just wasn't up to par. This camera was exactly what I've been looking for -- for years! It plugged in and worked immediately. No drivers to fiddle with. Picture and audio quality are ideal for my needs. Great stuff. Now, I wish Logitech would support us Mac users as much with all their other fine products, but I guess that's asking for miracles.

5 of 5 Big Improvement Over Built-In iSight Tuesday, December 02, 2008
Mark Almand from gainseville, ga
I waited years to buy a camera because of the difficulty finding a quality, affordable Mac-compatible option. This is it. I bought this camera based on the many glowing reviews and have not been disappointed. The quality is vastly superior (in both low- and normal-light) to the MacBook's built-in cam and my 4-year-old Canon mini-DV recorder, which I had been using. The Logitech's sound quality, like its video quality, is superior to both the Mac's built-in mic and the DV recorder's mic. The camera gives great results on both iChat and Skype. Have used the cam both professionally and with family chats. I even trained the camera close-up on a white board and my meeting partner was able to read my notes "easily," he said (in this case, via Skype). That was not the case with the other cams I tried. (Note: This was a bit awkward -- I had to pull the whiteboard close enough to create a full-frame image. But it proved worth it because of the material's importance.) Some may blanch at the price (about $110 from buy.com), but for me the difference in quality is worth it, as technical quality seems to be at least as important to the "feel" of a video chat as it is to a phone call.

5 of 5 MUCH better than my MacBook's built in camera Sunday, November 30, 2008
A Customer from Irvine, California
I didn't understand how good this web cam was until I compared the quality - side by side - with my MacBook's built in camera and microphone. Whoa! This Logitech has autofocus, which makes more of a difference than I thought it would. AND it both color corrects and REMARKABLY improves subjects in marginal lighting. If you're going to do video chat with someone you really care about - like a child in college or a far-away sweetheart - make sure THEY have a camera like this Logitech on their end, too. Clear communication is so elusive in these days of often marginal cell phone connections. This web cam tangibly improves the quality of how you can communicate.

5 of 5 Excellent cam! Tuesday, September 30, 2008
A Customer from Bend, OR
I've wanted to use iChat AV with my PowerMac for quite a while, but Apple doesn't provide a webcam option for these (or Mac Mini for that matter). I read about the Logitech cam and bought it several weeks ago. Great purchase! The good: - Excellent imaging...much better than the built-ins in other Macs - Wider field of view than the iSights built into MacBook Pro or iMac - Good sound - Plug-and-play, just like LogiTech says. It works totally transparently with iChat AV. The bad: Frankly, I think it's a bit overpriced at $125 or so, but it's still a new product and it's unique for the Mac. Hopefully it will drop in price to be comparable to other top LogiTech cams. We're planning to buy more for our kids' iMacs...the improved picture quality is worth it to us.

5 of 5 Finally, a viable alternative to the EOL iSight Wednesday, September 17, 2008
Heath Hendrickson from Marlborough, MA
I had read all the reviews I could find on this camera before buying because it's not cheap, but it's currently the only one on the market that is designed for the Mac (since Apple decided to discontinue to the iSight). Yeah, you can get the Vision 9000 to work on a Mac, but you lose most of the nice features, so caveat emptor on that. <p> To that point, and those thinking "just buy the Vision 9000, it's the same thing just without a Mac-tax", you are dead wrong. In the Vision 9000, everything is done in software and Logitech only has drivers for Windows. So it will work, but no RightLight, no high FPS, it's just a basic web-cam and not that great on the Mac from all the reviews I've read. But the Vision Pro does all the goodness in hardware (hence the higher price tag). No driver, no software to install.... truly a plug-n-play device on the Mac. Heck, there isn't even a CD with it. Take it out of the box and plug it into an open USB port and you are done. Open iChat or Skype or whatever and it's there as an available web camera. <p> The system I'm using it on is an older Mac Mini (G4 1.42 GHz w/ 1 GB RAM) running Tiger. <p> The only problem I'm having is that I get a periodic splash of static in the view window under iChat. I think it may have to do with the fact that Vision Pro is plugged into a USB port on my monitor which is then plugged into a USB hub which is plugged into the Mac. USB has issues in these situations, so I'll have to try plugging it directly into the Mac to see if that makes a difference.

5 of 5 A Real No Brainer to Use Sunday, August 24, 2008
A Customer from Ohio
Plug it in and away you go... video chat is up and running. The video quality is outstanding and using the camera with Skype it's simply wonderful. After two weeks of using the Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro for Mac on my G5, it has performed flawlessly. I've used other webcams and they just don't have the video quality of the Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro. If you are looking for a strong webcam for daily use, the QuickCam Vision Pro is the best solution.

5 of 5 Excellent camera; issues w/mount & UStream.tv Saturday, August 16, 2008
Kevin Jarrett from Northfield, NJ, USA
Extremely high quality video and audio. Worked PERFECTLY with Skype. The mount is not well suited for laptops; it's awkward to place on the laptop LCD (I have a 15" Macbook Pro) and the base is not really stable enough to stand on its own. Probably fits an iMac like a glove however. Also had problems getting the camera to work with UStream.TV; ended up needing CamTwist (free/open source: http://www.allocinit.com/index.php?title=CamTwist) but once that was installed, everything went well. I definitely recommend this camera!
