I sent two of these out to in-laws so that they could connect to us via Skype.
Everyone had an easy time setting things up and getting the ever-improving Logitech software to run. The software worked fine on their older Pentium 4 computers but you really need a newer CPU to get higher frame rates.
These cameras need good lighting (no windows or lamps in the frame)for good picture quality. Look at the Pro series - I have one at work - if you want better contrast range and autofocus.
As with any product, ALWAYS check for software updates after installation. I've seen huge improvements in the Logitech software over the last year or so and many bug fixes for AMD processors and audio compatibility. Was this review helpful?

This webcam replaced an HP one that wouldn't work with Vista Home Premium. As I've experienced with other Logitech products in the past, the QuickCam Connect webcam was no-nonsense and easy to install. Took 5 minutes to unpack, load CD software, plug-in USB cable and start using Skype. The extra feature panel to distort the webcam image (vintage, funhouse, etc.) is a fun extra. Great price, too. But, service from Buy.com was great! We ordered the camera and it arrived within one day, even though we hadn't signed up for express one day shipping!

The product arrived just as expected. I was disappointed with the results of the camera when I installed the camera. The picture was grainy and very fuzzy. In fairness, this was a low end webcam, however, this was my first experience with webcam technology. I later found that the room lighting is key to sharper images. This makes me sound like a real airhead, but truly I thought the technology would take care of the lighting thru internal adjustments, but bad lighting is bad lighting and lighting has nothing to do with the camera functions or features that perform exactly as described.
Overall, the webcam is acceptable when the room lighting can be adjusted. The features of the webcam function just as they should. It has become the baseline. Since, my purchase of this webcam, I purchased the Logitech QuickCam Communicate Deluxe, which is a much better webcam.
Bottom line, you get what you pay for. Was this review helpful?

Hooked up the camera with ease and downloaded Skype and installed it. They work together great. Make sure you put up your sound on the computer or you might have a hard time hearing the other person.
