Installation: Install batts, plug in mini reciever ... turn it on and use it. Awesome! Works everywhere I've tried it without any hitches or glitches. I have not installed software so I have no idea what it does as the manual or online resources don't say. But I think in order to use the side scroll funtion on the mouse the software is needed. My only complaint is the manual really doesn't give you any information. A few keys are useless to me but considering all the junk it could have (like the $150 models)it's not really an issue. Key feel is light but responsive. Overall ... Out of the box goodness!

I use it on a computer I built for a HTPC setup hooked to a 42" LCD. It works great for internet surfing and watching movies via Windows Media Player. Just plugged it in and it was good to go. It does get some interference from an unknown source probably cordless phones. This makes gaming a little difficult. Not an issue for me since I am not a gamer but still a potential deal breaker for some. I cannot comment on battery life, but I have other Logitech mice and they are very efficient. One of them went over a year on the same batteries. Hopefully the same applies to this set. I only use Rayovac batteries.
