5 of 5 Cool Paint Scheme Tuesday, April 07, 2009
    HeyZeus from CO
Has worked like a charm on three different PCs without installing any drivers (two XP x86 SP3 and one Vista x64 SP1). Variable DPI is handy and low friction pads allow mouse to glide easily. Cord length was marginal for my setup at 6 feet. Mine was dented in shipping (ha-ha). Seriously, I like the paint scheme on this mouse more and more every day. Looks better in real life than in pictures. Gaming is great. Does exactly what you tell it to do.

    5 of 5 Great mouse for non-gamers too! Wednesday, October 22, 2008
    A Customer from MD
I love this mouse! It is absolutely the best mouse I have ever owned. Everything is so smooth, the feel of it, the way the mouse moves on my screen. I was afraid the two buttons on the left hand side would interfere or be accidentally pressed all the time, but they don't get in the way at all. And I find myself using them all the time now too! To move back or forward when web browsing. I also use the button directly underneath the wheel to scroll down web pages when I'm reading the news. The button on top of the wheel is too hard to get to so I don't use that one as much and the second big button underneath the wheel is not used at all. Overall, it's a great mouse for non-gamers too!

5 of 5 Best Logitech mouse IMO Tuesday, September 30, 2008
    A Customer from Hayward, CA
I have a 1st gen G5 mouse and it seems like it has bells and whistles but doesn't work any better than a good MX518. In fact the 1st gen G5 is missing a button. This is my 2nd MX 518 (1st one still going strong) and it's still very responsive, comfortable to handle, and a good value. I've pretty much stuck to Logitech so I can't compare it to other brands but as Logitech goes I don't see a reason to buy anything else than a 518.

5 of 5 a mouse with true gaming spirit Friday, September 26, 2008
    A Customer from md
I don't know how long this mouse will endure because I've only had it for several weeks. But this mouse is definitely the best mouse I've ever used so far. I love the options that allow me to configure the buttons. There are 5 buttons for me to configure. I am a heavy mouse user, I play games a lot. This is the mouse to go. I have using wireless mouse for the last several years, but going back to wired mouse seems to to be a better idea and more envirionmental friendly.

5 of 5 Popular, Powerful, Proficient Thursday, September 25, 2008
    dlg51 from Magna, Utah
One of the most popular mice you can buy and for good reason. It is comfortable, has stylish gray/dimpled color, is about as fast dpi that you need in an optical mouse. It is most responsive for first-person-shooter and action role-play games but is just as useful for productive purposes, too. Adjustable dpi speeds, solid construction, side buttons for Internet scrolling. For the price this is about the best overall balanced mouse you can find.

    5 of 5 Best I have used Wednesday, September 24, 2008
    A Customer from NY,NY
I bought this mouse after trying out a number of different mice, including Razer Copperhead, Logitech G5/G7. This is the best out of all I have tried. Sensitivity can be set, extremely accurate for graphic jobs, and looks cool as hell. Only 2 things bothered me, the placement of the thumb buttons are not as ergonomically placed, if they were to be moved half an inch backwards, it would be perfect, but its a minor issue. The only issue is that the wires may drag at times, but again minor issue, and easily fixed.

5 of 5 probably the best wired mouse ever Sunday, March 09, 2008
    JOB from KS
have tried quite a number of mice and this model is the best so far. have had 2 that lasted a lot longer (still working after 2 years of heavy use) and performed much better than the other models/brands. I now have four of these and i plan to buy more for my other pc's. definitely great for gaming or work, maybe a bit too much for just casual use.

    1 of 5 Too jittery. Wednesday, January 02, 2008
    A Customer from Austin, Texas
This mouse is too jittery, even with updated drivers. Spend the extra money for a G5 laser mouse, which is the best mouse I've ever used. The MX518 is barely functional.

4 of 5 Logitech MX518 has some slippery surfaces Tuesday, January 01, 2008
    Kyle from Joplin, MO
I'm disappointed with this mouse after using an Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 for many years. The slick covering on the buttons and palm rest area means I have to work harder just to keep my fingers from slipping off. I guess this could be remedied by applying some rubber grips of some sort. Also the mouse is smaller in my hand than the Intellimouse, although it is quite long. If I can adapt my grip to this thing, it would be a fine mouse. The tracking, weight, and motion of the mouse seem to be very good. Also the wheel has the indents which let you know how far you've moved it (I like that.)

5 of 5 Mouse or rocket Wednesday, December 12, 2007
    Michael from AL
This is the best for working or gaming. It's a rocket just waiting to be launched. I had to slow it down for working. It's so fast and easy to use, works like a charm. I love the fact that the sides are indented and tacky, makes it a cinch to pick up and never slips. Would buy it again in a minute, and shipping was extremely fast from buy.com.

    5 of 5 great mouse Tuesday, September 25, 2007
    seriouslysilly from Central Jersey
Originally bought this for gaming and served really well. I really enjoyed changing the sensitivity on the fly. Was really helpful. Now, I use it mostly for navigating/browsing on my laptop. Handles really well and feels great (very comfortable). Precise movement. I really love the extra buttons to make navigating easy (especially with Avant browser). I can open/close windows with one button and switching windows quickly with shortcuts.

    5 of 5 Excellent Mouse! Tuesday, December 12, 2006
    Ed Stoddard from Vashon, Washington
I've owned the MX518 Gaming Optical for about a year now. I play speed chess every day (one minute games) on the Internet. This mouse is the most accurate one I've used to date. In one minute speed chess games one must move quickly, placing pieces where intended. I've used many other optical mice by both major makers and this one is simply the best for games, and any other computing purpose!

    5 of 5 Perfection Friday, August 04, 2006
    Chris from New York, NY
I've turned this gaming mouse into an everyday work device, and it's like driving you Ferrari to the supermarket. The ergonomics are fantastic as I don't tire after 9 hours of use. The precision is outstanding, especially the adjustibility of dpi. I can't recommend this device highly enough.

    5 of 5 Amazing Friday, December 16, 2005
    A Customer from Chicago, IL
Everything works great and is a great christmas present for gamers. It will also perform great in everything else. The extra buttons are great and make web browsing easier. I recomend this mouse because of its great 1600 dpi and its great price tag.

5 of 5 Awesome mouse for browsing or gaming! Thursday, October 20, 2005
    zp2063 from Grapevein, TX
I do love to play first person shooters, but I also do a lot of other general computing things. I was mainly attracted to the mouse because of it matched my monitor and keyboard, but also for its reputation as being a great gaming mouse (well the mx510 really has the great legacy and this one builds on it). I looked at the diNuvo, but too many reviews complained of laggy performance and at this price w/ free buy.com shipping, it was hard to say no to it. Bottom line is this mouse is great. It is light, fights great in my medium sized hand, has enough buttons - but not too many - and is super precise. You know exactly where you are moving the pointer. This precision really helps out in the FPS games, but also makes general use a pleasure. Cliff Notes: The mouse is a great performer and won't let you down in games or regular computing tasks.

1 of 5 Good mouse but Defective "-" button Thursday, October 06, 2005
    A Customer from kenmore wa
Just received my MX518 yesterday. I like the mouse. I tried to re-assign the + and - buttons. At first I could not get the - key to respond. Finally pushed the button a little harder and toward the front of the mouse a little. The button would then respond. This is really irritating. I just need to swap it for a good mouse. I hate dealing with returns!

5 of 5 Gaming mice are getting better and better... Wednesday, August 31, 2005
    DarkFall from Middletown, Ohio
The update to the already exceptional MX510, by Logitech, the MX518 doubles the resolution and enables "on the fly" adjustment to lower settings when needed. Many novice gamers don't realize that the more precise the mouse, the more precise the aiming in FPS games. Doubling the resolution of their already popular and very versatile gaming mouse, while keeping it's comfortable size and shape, shows that Logitech is ahead of the curve once again. High resolution, easily programmed and well placed buttons, comfortable feel. LOW price from Buy.com, $20.00 under the $59.99 suggested retail...

5 of 5 Great Gaming Mouse Wednesday, July 06, 2005
A Customer from San Jose, CA
This is an awesome mouse. I use my computer at least 10+ hours a day (both playing games and working) and this is the best mouse I've ever used. I previously had the wireless mx1000, but it cramped up my hand due to the small nature of it so I went out looking for a new mouse. Although I would prefer a wireless mouse, the features on the mx518 more than make up for it. When playing games, I program the most common actions such as shooting, running, etc. directly on the mouse. This way, I don't have to fiddle with the keyboard all the time. But the best parts of the mouse is that it is accurate, glides smoothly on my desk, and it is a larger mouse meaning that if you have normal to large sized hands, it's more comfortable. Highly recommended mouse to say the least!

At first when you use it it's hard to get used to using 3 fingers so u can change the mouse sensitivity. However, once u get used to it your game playing is off the charts and you're getting headshots each shot.

    5 of 5 Amazingly Accuracy! Tuesday, May 17, 2005
    Jasper from Bellevue, WA
I have been a logitech fanboy for a long time. I've owned the 3 button triangle logitech mouse, the mouseman + ball mouse with wheel, the first optical mouseman, then the dual optical, and the mx700 wireless optical. When i saw that they were putting out a mouse with the gamer in mind, I had to have it. When I first plugged it in and started moving it around my steelpad 3s, i could feel a difference (get mouse skates, btw, it makes it quieter and smoother) Amazingly accurate movement, the ability to effortless point to a specific pixel. Comfortable shape. I don't quite understand the point of changing your DPI on the fly, as I want the highest DPI, but it's a nice feature nevertheless. Great mouse!
