5 of 5 Little known mouse with lots of options! Tuesday, September 26, 2006

I did an extensive search for the right mouse for me. This mouse is a little bit on the heavy side and not super accurate (for you gamers) but it has all the cool features of the best optical mice for everyday use.<br><br>
I like the horizontal scrolling option and the browser navigation buttons. The media player control features are really useful: there are buttons to turn on the media player, play/pause, control volume and ff/rew. I can use this mouse like a remote control to view video files on my computer or listen to and control audio files. I particularly like that you can customize most of the buttons to work with almost any media programs. The only limitation is that it doesn't allow you to choose "non-standard" media players for the media button (which turns on the program remotely) so your choice is somewhat limited. Logitech issued a s/w upgrade recently but I like to use GOM Player and obviously that is not part of the list.<br><br>
I think the black with red trim looks great. The gray with blue trim looks a little outdated. I've used both in the past.

The quality is no less than what you would expect from logitech. The mouse is very responsive even when I used it for gaming (UT2004), which I don't do too often.
The extra buttons are really nice, I use them with winamp to jump around thru my mp3s and change the volume without having to have winamp on top of all the other windows that I am working with.
The battery seems to last for long times since the mouse uses an invisible light and it has an on/off switch which I always forget to turn off!
It also goes well as a portable mouse since its receiver is in the form of a USB flash drive.
For the price you cannot go wrong. Was this review helpful?
