1 of 5 Mistake? Saturday, June 06, 2009 Raj from Cary, NC
Tried to set it up to work with my Vizio LCD TV, Dish DVR, Sony DVD Player and Panasonic DVD Recorder. Worked ok with almost 95% of the functions, but could not get this to work with my Dish DVR's main options. During my pre-buying reviews, I expected the learning function to take care of all the options that were not supported directly but that only to worked in some cases. Bottom line this cannot replace all my remotes. Seems to consume the batteries pretty fast too and then lost the settings I spend hours on. Spent a lot of time trying to get this to work, but ended giving up. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 great remote, great price Tuesday, April 14, 2009 A Customer from Huntsville, AL
Works like a charm. Plug it in the PC, tell it what you want to do, and BINGO!!! I love it. I like the deep sleep feature: if you haven't use it in a couple of hours, when you come into the room it will automatically light up to let you know where it is. It just knows that your there. Controls up to 15 different devices. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Remote. Great Deal Sunday, April 12, 2009 A Customer from Philadelphia PA
Simple to program. Takes care of all my devices. Easy on, easy off, easy control for all functions of all devices. Nice blue backlight, good balance and buttons are easy to find/push. Has simplified my life. My 7 year old can also use this without problems. I've bought quite a few refurbished products from BUY.COM - all have been like new. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great, easy to use device Sunday, April 12, 2009 A Customer from San Antonio, TX
We purchased a refurbished Harmony 550 to replace a Sony programmable remote (AX-4000) after some of the Sony's buttons quit working. While the Sony took about 2 days to program, the Harmony 550 took about 20 minutes, controlling the same 4 devices the Sony had (HDTV, DVR, DVD, Amplifier). The "programming" of the 550 is so simple that it's almost ridiculous: the HDTV, for example, was programmed on the Logitech Harmony setup website by entering the brand and model of the TV. There were a couple of other commands that we desired to also have visible or active on the 550, and the programming to activate the display or assign a command to a button took all of 2 minutes. A fabulous product that works flawlessly. We like them so much that we just ordered our 3rd 550. Was this review helpful?

Everyone should have one. Controls everything perfectly (with the exception of my PS3, because it uses Bluetooth).
I previoulsy had the 510, but it only controls a maximum of 5 devices. The 550 controls 12 devises, otherwise they are very similar, with the exception of a few buttions on the 550. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great price for a very good remote Monday, March 30, 2009 Ralph from Brooklyn NY
The remote programmed easily and it set itself up for most of the commands that were needed. The plus with the logitech remotes is that they are capable of programming lesser known equipment (like my Musical Fidelity preamp) that other remotes have to use key by key training with the original remote.
The remote being refurbished has presented no problems sofar. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Does what I want Monday, March 30, 2009 A Customer from Atlanta, GA
Decided to give the 550 a try, and glad that I did. The set up was easy to understand, but did take some trial and error to get it working the way that I wanted. To me the remote is very good looking and very functional. As a refurbished unit I have had no issues I would recommend this remote to anyone with multiple pieces of A/V equipment. 5 of 5 Great price, great remote! Monday, March 30, 2009 A Customer from Detroit, Mi
This remote does a great job controlling my Harmon Kardon AVR525 and Directv box. It was very easy to set up and the price was fantastic! I was not sure what to expect for a reconditioned model, but it looks and seems brand new! Wish I bought one a long time ago! Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 A true universal remote! Sunday, March 29, 2009 A Customer from Santa Rosa Beach, FL
The on-line programming and Logitech's library of codes makes this a winner. "Action" based commands; 'watch tv', 'watch dvd', etc... make it simple for everyone, "Device" menu accesses the deeper functions of a factory remote - truly serves all needs.
If it hiccups or locks up; just wipe it and reload from your online profile in one step - Awsome. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Will get rid of some remotes Saturday, March 28, 2009 David from Hewitt, NJ
This unit will eliminate some remotes, but will take some work and programming by logitech office staff. Which are great by the way and responsive. Took 3 days of phone calls to get it programmed for my dvr, lcd tv, vcr and surround system. All work as intended except for vcr which you have to push an additonal button to make work. But what the heck, 4 remotes in the drawer. I am going to buy the same one for the master bedroom. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great product! Wednesday, March 25, 2009 A Customer from Houston, TX
I have really enjoyed using this remote! After the initial setup, we had to change some of the settings. The change was really easy to do through the computer connection. I've had no problems using this remote. Was this review helpful?

My dad (76) actually got one of these before I did and "talked" me into buying one. This remote is awesome and super smart. Easy to program and works! Love this thing, replaced 4 remotes! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Well worth the price. Tuesday, March 24, 2009 Jonathan from Warner Robins, GA
I was a little concerned about buying a refurbished product, but I have been very pleased thus far. The remote has been able to operate all of the devices that I own and accommodates most of the functions for each. I had to go back and tweek some of the functions to work with certain buttons, but that was mainly due to operator error. The activities (macros) approach to operating multiple devices at once is great. I no longer have to juggle 3 or 4 remotes to go between watching TV to watching a DVD. I would definitely recommend this remote. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Unbelieveable Tuesday, March 24, 2009 Bill from Chicago, Illinois
I thought to myself that at this price I'd give this product a try, well it was money well spent! I have five different combinations of running my TV, Dish DVR, receiver, VCR and DVD player and will probably add another for my CD player. You hook it up to your computer and away you go.
If you shut off with one combo and want to turn on a different combo the next just press the combo again it all will be right, just a great product.
Every brand I use is a different one, that fact that it will control all the different brands all at one time is remarkable. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great remote Tuesday, March 24, 2009 Neal Wattenbarger from Grand Prairie, TX
I was orginally going to buy the Harmony One but at the price I couldn't justify it. I am very pleased with the remote, and luckily Logitech just announced they are releasing a bluetooth adapter to control the Playstation 3, and not have to use the Nyko Blu wave, after that it will be perfecr. 5 of 5 Great Solution at a Great Price Monday, March 23, 2009 Barry from Chicago, IL
I have tried several universal remotes, but programming them was always a pain, features would be missing, and learning is always time consuming. The Logitech 550 is a great handset, feels good, good backlighting (although the keys are a little small). But the programing is what sets it apart. Simply load the software and attach the handset with the included USB cable. Everything just simply loads (and long strings to turn on multiple AV equipment is automatically set up), and assigning keys takes no time at all (less than 20 minutes for my entire AV system). Customer service also was very helpful (there was a tiny software glitch that they fixed on the fly), real live people who speak English and everything. Only other issue (other than the button size) is there is a slight pause from key press to the command firing, but its minor. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Wow! It worked GREAT Monday, March 23, 2009 Karl from Vicksburg, MI
I was a little concerned as I have had trouble trying to program a couple of "universal remotes" previously. THIS WORKED GREAT and EASILY. Setup is easy but you must use a computer. Followed the USB connection directions and had NO trouble. Worked first time and from then on....... I got my order in 48 hrs. It looks and feels brand new. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Good remote Monday, March 23, 2009 A Customer from Hinsdale NH
Easy to use. Setup is very easy with a PC. Controls everything I have, JVC receiver, Directv, Toshiba TV. Only problem is the volume and channel buttons are small and flimsy feeling and feel like they will be the first to break. Other than that I am very happy with the remote. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 For Blu-ray and XBox 360! Monday, March 23, 2009 Chris Knight from Clearfield UT
I have had a good experience with this remote. I use it for my XBox 360, Sony Blu-ray player, Toshiba 37" LCD TV, DISH Network DVR, Sony Amplifier (with XM Radio), and JVC DVD Player. Because there seems to be only five activities you can do I have my dvd player (for the kids) set to the "Watch a DVD" activity, and my blu-ray player set to "Watch a Movie". It is nice because for the kids only the TV and DVD player turn on, and for me the TV, Amplifier, and Blu-ray player turn on. Another cool thing about this is if on the remote you go from "Watch a Movie" to "Watch a DVD" the remote remembers what items were on and so the TV is left on as the other devices are turned on and off. Also for "Listen to Radio" I have the remote set up to switch to SAT (XM) on the amplifier. Fun remote with good software. Well worth the price. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 One of the best remotes I have ever used Sunday, March 22, 2009 Andy from Bensalem, PA
The setup for this remote is extremely easy. It had all my devices configured within minutes! It's the first remote to give me access to ALL the features on all my devices. It even worked with my MacBook! The price is a tad high though. I don't think I would have bought it, if I didn't get a pretty big discount for the refurb model. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Smart, easy to use Sunday, March 22, 2009 John M from Milford, Michigan
I had a Sony RM-AV3000 Universal Remote. It was large, complicated and cumbersome to use. This LG was very easy to set up, intuitive to use and smart. If you get out of sequence or want to switch to another A\V device, say from TV viewing to DVD, it automatically changes power, inputs, etc for the new device without having to turn everything off and then on again. It has a help feature that will correct any function that is out of synch. Definitely would highly recommend this item. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Awesome. Saturday, March 21, 2009 Nick from Sandpoint, ID
Buy this remote. If I thought that I could somehow benefit by having two of these, I would buy another one. Setup was super easy and straightforward. The remote works awesome. It would be cool to have bluetooth capabilities so I could turn on my Wii with it, but seriously, I have to get up to get the Wii Remote out anyway.
The remote did have minor signs of wear-and-tear. A few buttons looked like they had been almost worn off; however, the buttons were the all-purpose ones at the bottom that you never use anyway. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Like a glove Thursday, March 12, 2009 MR from Jersey City, NJ
Easy to use, functional beyond all belief (anything with an IR sensor) and what a great value buying through buy.com for this refurb price. I got my order in 24 hrs.
The only complaint I have with this remote is that it "clicks" loudly for most of the non-rubber buttons. The blue backlighting blinks everytime you press a button, but then again i've only had this remote for 2 days so there might be a setting to change the blue back lighting from lighting up each time. The loud clicking is still annoying though.
Setup is easy but only possible with a computer. You can reprogram every single button on the remote to do any possible function. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent Product, Great Price! Tuesday, March 10, 2009 A J Narula from Washington DC
I have been a big fan of Logitech Harmony remotes for the last few years - I have a 880 in the family room and a 890 in the theater and needed a universal remote like those for my bedroom but not at $200 - $300. I saw this at buy.com and ordered it immediately at $45. I figured it may have some signs of use as it was a refurb but was pleasantly surprised - It looks and feels brand new. Took me a little getting used to since the 880 and 890 have an identical look and feel but has most of that functinality at a much better price. And this one isnt rechargeable. The logitech remotes are amongst the easiest to set up using their online wizard. Absolutely recomend to anyone... Was this review helpful?
1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 5 of 5 Practical, versatile, inexpensive Monday, March 02, 2009 Earl from Salem, OR
This remote isn't quite perfect -- but it's close enough to earn a five, particularly at this price.
I love that it can handle a variety of products, and that it's relatively easy to identify what you want it to control. It does require a PC to set up -- you cannot get started or make any changes without one.
It has a "device" and "activity" metaphor. Each device has its own settings on the LCD menu and all the buttons are set to control that device, as you'd expect. Most of the time, however, I'm in "activity" mode, like "Watch DVR" or "Play VHS" or "Use PS3" (you can customize the names however you want). In that case, the buttons may control combination of different devices -- volume to my receiver, play/pause and such to my DVR or something else, and so on. The LCD menu may have options from multiple devices -- you can pick and choose what goes there.
PROS
----
1. Handles everything I have, including an older Kenwood receiver. Most remotes couldn't handle the special buttons that control it (the original remote, which I lost, must have had at least 50 buttons on it, probably more).
2. Automates the "turn on" and "turn off" macros, so you don't have to figure out which buttons should be pressed. It actually remembers what's on and off, and can turn off only what you've actually turned on.
3. Adjustable timings on macros, so if your TV takes forever to power on and be ready for menu options (like mine), you can still get it to work.
4. You can create custom macros (though you're limited to about five keystrokes per macro).
5. Backlit LCD screen lets those six buttons around it do just about anything you can imagine. Four buttons (two silver ones on each side) select one of the four options displayed in the LCD screen, while two scroll buttons (black buttons under the screen) scroll you through the list of options, four at a time.
6. You can adjust nearly ANYTHING through the PC software.
CONS
----
1. Can't make minor tweaks to its setup without a PC.
2. PC software is great, but finding how to set something up the way you want can be confusing. Their customer service email responded promptly to my request (less than the 24-hours they said it could take), and their response was exactly what I needed, but it takes time to figure out where to adjust what in their software. The initial setup is intuitive, tweaking the setup isn't.
3. Have to look down at remote to use LCD menu, if you have more than four options assigned to the device or activity that's currently active. Intuitive to use, but have to look away from TV to figure out what you want to press.
4. Tiny buttons. I can handle it pretty well, but I'd like larger buttons, even if that makes the overall remote larger.
5. Macros support only five commands. I need longer macros for some things.
6. No subtitle button. I'd need a macro that could do more than five commands anyway, so I set up "CC Start" and "CC Finish" macros, and put them above each other on the LCD menu. May not matter to a lot of people, but my wife needs subtitles most of the time.
Six pros and six cons -- but for me, the pros dramatically outweigh the cons. Got a refurbished one here at buy.com, and it looked new and works great. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Best bang for the buck Tuesday, February 24, 2009 Ryan from Vancouver wa
fantastic remote, just replace my touch screen sony which was a pain as i always hit the wrong buttons. The Harmony works really well and had it setup in about 8 minutes. only draw back is that there is only so much you can do when merging many remotes into 1, but the macros are really fantastic Was this review helpful?
