4 of 5 Looks great; works well Saturday, June 28, 2008
A Customer from Middletown, DE

The sales points already mention the positives, so, even though I gave it 4 out of 5, I'm going to focus on the negatives. This combo is sleek looking, for sure, and generally delivered as advertised, except for the following: Configurable with caveats--I assigned Thunderbird to the email key and it worked fine for a while but is now non-responsive. If I assign MS Outlook to the email key it loads right up; the key has only broken for Thunderbird. The volume slider is fine, but the LCD display for volume changes stinks. It shows an increasing or decreasing bar that has no correlation to the true volume level. As you slide your finger up and down, it should display the corresponding volume level (1-100%). It doesn't, and the bar seems to indicate 'relative' adjustments--if volume is at 100%, and you slide down until the bar is gone, you'd expect volume to be at zero, but it isn't. It's behavior is bizarre, so it's difficult to explain. Bluetooth connectivity is spotty--my keyboard routinely loses it's connection. The Smart Calc function has only marginal value for me. The mouse is OK. It has lots of features and is 'grippy.' But, I grip my mouse farther back than the thumb groove provides, so I can't reach the Back and Flip thumb buttons. It doesn't have a natural feel for me. With rebates and codes, I only paid $50 for the combo, so it was worth it, but I'm not convinced it's worth more.

1 of 5 Great product promise, poor performance and suppor Wednesday, April 30, 2008
Joe from Ebensburg, PA
The features promised for the MX 5000 Desktop are superb. The performance is far from it. The mouse and keyboard cancel the screensaver and power-saving features of the monitor. Technical service, even at Level 2 has been far below par: * Replacements have happened only because I have followed up. Logitech's system did not perform as promised. * Technical service, even Level 2 techs, recognize the problem but have provided no solution. Promised calls have yet to happen.

4 of 5 Overall a good product, though there are some bugs Sunday, April 13, 2008
A_V from US
Overall, this is a good unit. While still not quite as reliable as a corded model, the mx5000 does quite well for anything short of heavy gamers. Before considering it though, think if you need a model that costs as much as this one though. After a rebate, I paid about 80 inc. shipping for mine. At this point a cheaper - though not nearly as reliable - model for people who want a cordless desktop could be the E110, though it is not nearly as nice for anyone who isn't using their cordless desktop AWAY from a desk (It needs line of sight.) Besides that, there are features I wondered a bit about. For example, the keyboard shows the room temperature. Nice I suppose, but hardly a necessity. Personally I would have much preferred a built in usb port or a 3.5 headphone jack - Still though, this is simply nitpicking. Also, at once point I had a issue with the keyboard not being detected. It took probably half a hour to figure out how to reset it so it would reconnect to my laptop, and required removing the batteries from the actual keyboard in order to do so. (And the information for it was buried in Logitech's website, before that I had tried reinstalling the software, reconnecting several times, resetting, etc.) Overall though, it is a reliable unit. Just realize though before you think about spending this much money if you actually need the features this has compared to a model half or even 1/4th the price. It's a very nice keyboard/mouse, but it's not for everyone.

5 of 5 Great Product Thursday, March 27, 2008
Heather from Rocky Mount, NC
I love this keyboard and mouse combo. It was very easy to set up and works great. The battery life is much better than I expected. The keyboard is very soft and easy to type with and the mouse scolls very smoothly. Plus the features are great too. I think this is a great product and a great deal and I would recommend to anyone. My fiance saw it and is planing on ordering one for himself.

5 of 5 Just about perfect Thursday, March 20, 2008
A Customer from Los Angeles, CA
Great price! I have a little trouble with the keyboard not reconnecting, probably because I have it connected to a USB switch. Otherwise its functions for media, messenger, volume, zoom, and other hot keys are GREAT! The range so far is wonderful, once its been reconnected. I use it consistently from about 8-10 ft away with no drops. Mouse batteries last a good long time.

5 of 5 Great bluetooth set, best brand for keyboards and Monday, March 17, 2008
monsruzo from Indianapolis
This bluetooth set is the best because it is the best brand making the best mice and keyboards, plus it's price can't be beat, plus the mouse is rechargeable on it's own stand. Set itself up with software and driver install from provided CD. Works great and no lag, very accurate mouse.

5 of 5 Great keyboard, mouse and Value Sunday, March 16, 2008
Ed Duran from Lowell, MA
Between Revolution Card discount (FIFTY BUCKS) and Rebate (FOURTY BUCKS) I couldn't go wrong with this keyboard, however, beyond that this is still a great value. Comfortable to use, easy to install, and nice to add bluetooth capability to my system. If there was one thing I would have liked was the ability to easily switch the keyboard between systems - like press a keyboard button and switch from my desktop to laptop.

3 of 5 Nice stuff when it works! Thursday, March 13, 2008
Charlie from Atkinson, NH
The keyboard and mouse are great. The Blue Tooth portion is a real pain. For no apparent reason the mouse pointer will take a mind of it own and begin to float all over the place. The keyboard will type too many characters like you were holding down the key. In order to overcome this I had to put the repeat rate so low, when I need to repeat a key I have to wait for the keys to type. My wife is a lefty, she could not switch mouse buttons I had to install third party software for it to work. The Blue Tooth for no apparent reason will simply loose connectivity and I have spent as much as an hour trying to get it to connect using my laptop mouse. I love the idea of a rechargeable mouse, that makes most of the pain worth while. If you have time to mess with the Blue Tooth connectivity go ahead and buy this if you are impatient keep away. I have owned this keyboard about two years. I have owned about 6 wireless Logitech Keyboards. I just will never buy another Blue Tooth version. If I did not buy it from Buy.com it wouldn't have been such a great value. Lets face it Buy.com has very agressive pricing. Don't even think about using this near a 2.4 GHZ phone.

5 of 5 Works nice Monday, March 10, 2008
Tony from Deerfield Beach, FL
The keyboard and mouse did not want to link initially using the setup program, but within 10 minutes both were working fine, and also reconnect fast on powering them on or bootup of my laptop. It would be nice if the keyboard was rechargeable, but at least the mouse is. I'm not totally impressed with the slider volume controls, and the documentation is lacking on the keyboard soft key setup, but these are minor peeves. These are both fine tools to have.

5 of 5 A great wireless keyboard n mouse combo from Logit Saturday, March 01, 2008
Sandeep Sheoran from La Jolla, California
This Laser + Bluetooth enabled keyboard n mouse combo is amazing to work with. I attached my laptop to LG-LCD HDTV and browsed the web or office using this wireless keyboard+mouse set. The LCD display was cool feature on this keyboard. Setup took only 3 mins and able to connect up to 20ft. The overall performance was stupendous...i liked it. I'll highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for wireless keyboard n mouse set. Not that expensive n for sure won't get disappointed at all...at least for this product.

5 of 5 awesome bluetooth mouse and keyboard Saturday, March 01, 2008
monsruzo from Indianapolis, IN
this logitech mx5000 keyboard and mouse set was easy to hook up to my notebook, and they work great. one thing that makes this set better than most bluetooth mouse and keyboard sets is that it has an installed battery pack into the mouse and a charginig stand for the mouse. all you have to do is set the mouse on the charging stand to charge it, this is great because the mouser is the most commonly used item in the set here in this house and it is the item that requires the most power, and since you can just pop it on the charging stand, you don't have to purchase new batteries for it every week or two.

5 of 5 Very Pleased Friday, February 29, 2008
A Customer from Clarence, Ia
Just ordered this Tuesday pm and received Thursday noon. Had out of box and working in 5 minutes. Have not installed software or used any but most basic features yet. Mouse looked a little big but extremely well designed and works great. Buy.com is offering an outstanding deal on this combo, $90.00 less than Logitech site. You won't be disappointed. I can't wait to try more of the features.

5 of 5 Logitech MX 5000 Monday, January 14, 2008

This unit really works great. I use it mainly for gaming running on Vista from a distance of around 12 feet and have had no lagging or linkage issues. It's not cheap to buy but does work well.

5 of 5 Going the distance Wednesday, December 26, 2007

This keyboard works great if you need it to go the distance. My company has a very large board room and the old keyboard just didn't cut it. So I bought this one and everyone loves it.

5 of 5 I love this wireless desktop! Sunday, December 02, 2007
Dave S. from San Diego, CA
This wireless desktop is GREAT! I love all of the features, and the fact that it connects through Bluetooth was a real selling point for me. Because it comes with a Bluetooth USB dongle, I can easilly connect other Bluetooth devices as well. I have had a couple of times when the response of the keyboard & mouse have been delayed or erratic, but they reconnect almost immediately and work just fine. All in all I am extremely satisfied with this product!

5 of 5 Love this keyboard Wednesday, November 28, 2007
Deborah S. from Davenport, Iowa
I got this because it was on special at Buy.com. Super and stylish. After logging in on my computer, the display in the top center of the keyboard welcomes me personally with my name. I love it! The mouse is kind of big, but fits great in my hand. It even has extra handy buttons by the thumb rest to help navigate web browsing.

4 of 5 Great Mouse Keyboard combo except... Wednesday, November 28, 2007
A Customer from Laguna Hills, Ca.
Have been using the MX-5000 for approx 1 month. Except for the number pad on the keyboard, I would recommend it. The number pad occasionally stops talking to the PC...the numbers appear on the keyboard's screen but not on monitor's screen. Resetting the keyboard seems to resolve the issue.

5 of 5 Excellent product Wednesday, November 28, 2007
Clarke from Charlotte, NC
I've had numerous Logitech products over the years, and this combo is one of my favorites. The display is not as useful as I thought it'd be, but the built in calculator function makes it relevant. The nice thing is the calculator is built into the keyboard, it's not just a soft key that opens Windows calculator. Another nice feature of this keyboard are the virtual sliders for zoom and volume. They are fantastic. My only complaint is with the keyboard layout. I really miss the classic two rows of three buttons for Insert, Delete, Home, End, Page Up and Page Down. That's not a problem with this keyboard specifically, it's just the way all keyboards are headed. I have to get used to it since that's the direction most keyboards are headed.

5 of 5 Cats Meow Friday, October 05, 2007
A Customer from Stirum ND
Ive been in computers since 1965 starting with the Navys Recon plane called the Vigilate. Binary input on the aircrafts cpu that was over 50lbs of transistors. Ive seen a lot of keyboards and a mouse at that time was something that scared elephants. I have the earler Logi LX 700 and just got the MX 5000 and they are are the best you can find and so is the price. After rebate the MX 5000 was $64. If you do not use the software you are wasting your money. When I go to my laptop its like using a TV without a remote. So that is when you notice how nice it is to use if you like using a product that is a high preformer.

5 of 5 Great performer Tuesday, September 25, 2007
A Customer from Eufaula, AL
I am using two of these combos in separate corporate conference rooms where the user brings their own laptop and docks with the A/V system. Software installation is unnecessary for most keyboard functions so that is not an issue. The range with Bluetooth is great and I have not experienced any connectivity issues. After my suggestion one of my coworkers ordered three of these combos that are used simultaneously in a new storm center with no problem whatsoever. Our first purchases cost approximately $140 so they are definitely a bargain at $69.95 after rebate.

3 of 5 Better products out there Tuesday, June 19, 2007
A Customer from Salt Lake City, UT
I am a huge fan of Logitech mice, so I thought I would give the keyboard combo a try. The fact that it acted as a Bluetooth hub was a bonus. The set up wasn't too difficult. Pros: Small keyboard footprint, great ergonomics on the mouse, lots of options for customizing buttons, nice tactile response on the keyboard and mouse buttons, great aesthetic design, time and temp readout on the keyboard was neat. Cons: Signal was intermittent, I would have to keep re-syncing the keyboard with the receiver, while playing games I would bump the multimedia buttons and it would open iTunes, the keyboard would lag when interfaced with iTunes/WMP, the calculator built into the keyboard would have been better to just bring up the Windows calculator, the power saving feature for the keyboard made it go to sleep after a few minutes of inactivity, after waking up the keyboard the first key pressed would stutter so that the first key press would repeat 3 times before the rest of the keystrokes would go through, and there was noticeable lag when typing or gaming waiting for the keystrokes to be recognized.

5 of 5 works better with included dongle Saturday, June 02, 2007
Nathan from Va
Great keyboard, user specific prefs. Love the quick calculator that even puts stuff in the windows clipboard after you do the calculation. But, if you do bluetooth with a laptop computer that already does bluetooth, you will get worse performance than using the included dongle (using the included don't setup bluetooth, just click connect on the reciever and the devices)

5 of 5 Excellent Product Monday, May 14, 2007
Jim from Roseville, Michigan
This is and excellent product with 1 minor downside, due do software NOT the product itself. I've had no problems, even gaming on World of Warcraft is as it should be. The latest software and driver for it though does not have the sync software or support the sync button unless you program it to launch a sync program such as ActiveSync or Hotsync, and the older sync software on the software disc is not compatible with the newest driver and software. Other than that i am completely satisfied.

4 of 5 Just what I needed. Friday, March 02, 2007
Sheridan from Tucker, GA
I love the mouse. Comfortable and useful. I don't know how I ever used a pc without it. The keyboard is great. Comfortable keys, excellent battery life and good range. The LCD and touch controls could have been improved with a raised, backlit LCD and quicker response on the touch controls, but these are by no means dealbreakers. Since it is bluetooth 2.0, it will sync up with several devices like a cell headset for Skype calls and has fantastic range. I have yet to use the smart keys; I use it to type paper, drag n drop music, and surf the net so this review may not be suited to users who want in depth detailed reviews. It works for me. ****Make sure you download Setpoint 3.30 to ensure no disruptions between the Bluetooth receiver and keyboard.****

4 of 5 Works most of the time Thursday, September 14, 2006
A Customer from Los Gatos, CA
This is a fantastic product. It is just so cool. Setup is trivial - it just works. After using it for a couple of weeks I have noticed that occasionally, the keyboard loses connection and it takes a while to regain it. I have upgraded to the latest software but it just isn't 100% perfect yet. My 5 year old non-bluetooth wireless keyboard didn't ever have this problem, but I like the other features of the MX 5000 that I'm ok with the occasional glitch.

5 of 5 best keyboard i ever used Thursday, March 30, 2006
kedar from Minneapolis, MN
very sleek with lots of useful features. if your machine is not blue-tooth enabled the blue-tooth adapter that comes with the keyboard makes your system bluetooth enabled (can use with any other bluetooth device). can read you email also on the keyboard LCD, in case you are sitting far away from the screen. the touch-pad for adjusting zoom and volume etc is very efficient and useful.

5 of 5 Way super cool keyboard and mouse! Wednesday, January 18, 2006
Vince DeVito from Lakewood, California.
I have replaced many keyboards in the past but none have been both as functional and sleek as this one is, and yes batteries are included! An optional keyboard wrist rest was also provided. The Mini Bluetooth key easily plugs into any USB port. The installation of the software took a several minutes, so go grab a beverage while you wait. When you return (and reboot) you will be ready to use your new gadgets. This model has Bluetooth 2.0 Wireless technology, three times the speed of previous Bluetooth. I have mine about 40 feet away and it works very well with no interference from other devices. The keyboard case is made from top quality space-age construction, it has very solid feel, the texture feels like some titanium plastic fusion, strong, ultra thin and light. Slide-out leg risers are easy to access from the outside edge of the keyboard. The key pressure is wonderful and responsive and has a luxurious feel. There are so many useful function keys you can literally use this keyboard sitting on your couch. Programmable smart keys will launch your applications, favorite websites or special folders. The LCD display is located in the center of the keyboard and shows the current time of day and the current room temperature; yes you read correctly, the temperature. And it’s accurate to within 1/2 degree from my testing. If you are playing a MP3 disk it displays the title of the song and length in time on the LCD display. CD's and DVD's display the track number or title name. One of the unique features of this keyboard is the Touch-sensitive Media Controls on the left side of the keyboard. They allow you slide the desired volume for music or image zoom size for pictures. This takes some getting used to if you have never used flat touch panel controls, but once you do, its only take slight pressure and minimal movement from one finger to pause/play/mute or view your digital media files. The Rechargeable MX Laser Mouse works on virtually any surface. The ergonomic shape is extremely comfortable to the hand and much superior to a standard or stock mouse. The mouse has Tilt Wheel, plus Side-to-side scrolling and in/out Zoom. An LED indicator lets you know when your mouse needs recharging on the included trim styled base station. An exceptional product, Logitech has a winner here.
