| | Professional Reviews | Variety "...The ensemble cast works seamlessly....The performers' chemistry produces a highly watchable [film]..." 06/26/1995Los Angeles Times "...A thoughtful comedy....LIVE NUDE GIRLS deftly surprises you with unexpected depths..." 12/08/1995 p.F4 ReelViews 8 of 10 Personally, I have always appreciated well-made, talky motion pictures. That's why I'm fond of efforts like What Happened Was..., My Dinner with Andre, Before Sunrise, and the films of Eric Rohmer. Not that Live Nude Girls is in quite the same category as any of these movies - it relies a little too much on melodramatic cliches (the bride-to-be who doesn't know if she can go through with the wedding, the lovers who may or may not be breaking up, etc.). But, beneath the familiar plot contrivances, there's a core of honesty that delivers a satisfying motion picture experience. - James Berardinelli Variety 7 of 10 They're live and they are, from time to time, nude, but there's nothing especially prurient about "Live Nude Girls." The film is a gabfest among a clutch of longtime friends, with the talk eventually wearing thin. Theatrical prospects will be limited and specialized, and the effort will likely get a second wind in ancillaries, particularly cable...Nicely paced pic accents character over plot. Tyro director (and scripter) Julianna Lavin adopts an unfussy style to focus on the women of "Girls"-- and a couple of stray men. While the surroundings are a tad overlit, Christopher Taylor's gliding camera surmounts the claustrophobic nature of the piece. - Leonard Klady
