The songs retain a certain grungy grandeur, while focusing on the groove to the near exclusion of everything else, creating a kind of grunge-trance-rock. | | Standouts include "Mary Anne," with its propulsive, percussive beat, and "Rollercoaster," which rides an incendiary guitar line for over seven minutes, while heavily echoed vocals entreat "Come on, let it happen to you." The mind-boggling "Suicide," a blistering 13-minute tribute to the eponymous band, explores what guitarist/vocalist Sonic Boom has referred to as an attempt at "consciousness change via repetition." The track eventually turned up on the third Spacemen studio album, PLAYING WITH FIRE. Collectors should note that "Repeater," "Revolution," and "Suicide" were originally released on a limited edition, mail order only EP called THREEBIE 3. |
