| | | | Product Guides | | | | The Wireless-N Home Router is really three devices in one box. First, there's the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect to the network without wires. There's also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together. Finally, the Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection.
The Access Point built into the Router uses the very latest wireless networking technology: Wireless-N (draft 802.11n). By overlaying the signals of multiple radios, Wireless-N's "Multiple In, Multiple Out" (MIMO) technology multiplies the effective data rate. Unlike ordinary wireless networking technologies that are confused by signal reflections, MIMO actually uses these reflections to increase the range and reduce "dead spots" in the wireless coverage area. The robust signal travels farther, maintaining wireless connections up to 3 times farther than standard Wireless-G.
With Wireless-N, the farther away you are, the more speed advantage you get. It works great with standard Wireless-G and -B equipment, but when both ends of the wireless link are Wireless-N, the router can increase the throughput even more by using twice as much radio band, yielding speeds up to 9 times as fast as standard Wireless-G. But unlike other speed-enhanced technologies, Wireless-N can dynamically enable this double-speed mode for Wireless-N devices, while still connecting to other wireless devices at their respective fastest speeds. In congested areas, the "good neighbor" mode ensures that the Router checks for other wireless devices in the area before gobbling up the radio band.
To help protect your data and privacy, the Router can encode all wireless transmissions with industrial-strength 256-bit encryption. It can serve as your network's DHCP Server, has a powerful SPI firewall to protect your PCs against intruders and most known Internet attacks, and supports VPN pass-through. Configuration is a snap with the web browser-based configuration utility.
The incredible speed of Wireless-N makes it ideal for media-centric applications like streaming video, gaming, and Voice over IP telephony, and gives you plenty of headroom to run multiple media-intense data streams through the network at the same time, with no degradation in performance. With the Linksys Wireless-N Home Router at the center of your home or office network, you can share a high-speed Internet connection, files, printers, and multi-player games, and run media-intensive applications at incredible speeds, without the hassle of stringing wires!

5 of 5 Worked first time -- no problems Wednesday, March 12, 2008 PH from Apex, NC
I was looking for a good wireless router after my old Linksys wired router stopped working (after about five years). The Linksys WRT150N worked perfectly right out-of-the-box -- I had no trouble setting it up to my wired desktop and the wireless worked immediately with my laptop. I recommend getting to know the configuration screens directly (not just the EasyLink Advisor) though the EasyLink Advisor is useful for initial setup and security configuration. It's also useful to hide (disable broadcasting) the SSID if you don't want your neighbors to know the wireless network is there. (I think you have to disable broadcasting directly from the configuration screens since I didn't see anywhere you can do it through the EasyLink Advisor.) Was this review helpful?

1 of 5 DO NOT BUY Wednesday, January 30, 2008 Will from Mountain Home, Idaho
I purchased this unit new and have replaced this unit. Both routers continue to drop connections, primarily internet. Worked with Linksys Tech support and Users forum and updated firmware to reconfigure and stabilize router without success. It seemed to be that there are a number of other users in the forum with the same problem and to date no solution from Linksys. Up until now I have used nothing but Linksys products, but that will change today as I need this system to communicate with work and I cannot rely on it to function on a continuous basis. As a note Linksys Tech support chat line worked well. They just lack a solution. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Can't go wrong Wednesday, December 05, 2007 Kevin from La Mirada, CA
This is the 2nd unit that I've bought. It's very easy to setup. It has great range. I used to have the LinkSys Wireless G router but was having problems receiving the signal from my laptop. Bought this router and it resolved the problem. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Smart choice Wednesday, November 28, 2007 A Customer from West Frankfort, IL
This is the first and only wireless router I've purchased, although I've had plenty of experience with wireless client computers. Everything worked well. The built-in web-based configuration software is good but not great, and thankfully for me once it was set up I've never needed to use it. To use the strongest encryption in Windows XP (not sure about Windows 2000 or Vista), you will need to download an update from Microsoft (Google for it). Works perfectly without any downloads on Mac OS X 10.4. Having the 4 ethernet ports in the back is also great. There is also a mysterious little button on top reserved for some undisclosed future purpose! Hmmmm..... Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 works well Wednesday, September 26, 2007 A Customer from los angeles, ca
has a lot of nice features. the range is not as good as i expected. installed product downstairs and signal strength to a "G" adaptor in an upstairs bedroom is not as strong as i had hoped, but it does work. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Quick and easy set-up Wednesday, July 04, 2007 Rob@tetcom.com from ferndale, MI
If you are familiar with set-up of any router, this one is just as easy. I don't have an N wireless card yet so I can't attest to the speed of that but it works great with a G device. I did not use the enclosed CD to do the set-up, just plug in the default IP and log in to the router, the GUI is straight-forward and intuitive. I am curious to see how much better the N card performance is, will try that soon Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great product!! Friday, June 01, 2007 Derek from Gainesville, FL
I recently purchased the WRT-150N, and I have to say that it's a very good product. I haven't had any problems thus far, and tech support that I called to set it up was very helpful and relatively easy. I have a continual signal and it's fast and has a good signal. The speed, I'm sure, also has to do with my DSL connection speed. If/when you get this or any other Linksys router, make sure you call Linksys for set-up instead of trying to do it on your own. 5 of 5 If You Own A Mac... Tuesday, May 29, 2007 mm from new york, ny
I originally had an Asante (which is rec'd for macs, but it sucked!) so I knew this was going to be more complicated than usual, but as long as you have a good working knowledge of how routers work, then you can set this up without the included CD-ROM. Just make sure the mode is set to dynamic, the signal is set to the same as you computer (ie G, B, N or mixed) and your set. The included instructions are a joke, but there's more detailed PDF instructions on the included CD and on the website. Now, no more dropped signal and the signal strength is kickass. 4 of 5 Quality product. Tuesday, May 29, 2007 Pauly from Kansas City, MO
We're using this router with "G" laptops right now and it seems to be working well. We like the security features and the easy interface for changing settings. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Linksys Wireless N Routher Monday, May 28, 2007 A Customer from Lake Wales, FL
I replaced the Linksys Wireless G Router with the N Version. The N produces superior results to the G. Signal strength and speed are much better. I really like this product. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Advanced Encryption and Lock Options Require Skill Tuesday, February 27, 2007 A Customer from Sarasota, FL
I bought an "N" band router with the intent of keeping it 3-5 years to support the upcoming wave of direct video download and transmission through the net (online movie rental and download, etc.).
The router setup was easy --esentially plug and play. What was not was closing the router out to make it not open to the public. I'm very disappointed that Linksys did not supply any material with the router on how to do this. Their online support articles are fairly pathetic as well.
In conclusion, the router works great once you spend 3-4 hours to configure the encryption and other secure settings. I am, however, very dissatisfied with Linksys, with this and other products I have recently bought from them. I would recommend you save money buy a competing brand. Was this review helpful?
