Product Guides

Wireless-G is the upcoming 54Mbps wireless networking standard that's almost five times faster than the widely deployed Wireless-B (802.11b) products found in homes, businesses, and public wireless hotspots around the country - but since they share the same 2.4GHz radio band, Wireless-G devices can also work with existing 11Mbps Wireless-B equipment. The new Wireless-G Notebook Adapter from Linksys has both standards built in, so you can connect your notebook to existing 802.11b infrastructure, and also the new screaming fast Wireless-G networks. The included Setup Wizard will walk you through configuring the adapter to your network's settings, step by step. Then just slide it into your notebook's PC Card slot and enjoy network access with your notebook computer, while retaining true mobility.Once you're connected, you can keep in touch with your e-mail, access the Internet, and share files and other resources such as printers and network storage with other computers on the network, wherever you wander. At home, you can surf the web or use instant messaging to chat with friends while sitting out on the patio. You'll also be able to connect with any of the growing number of public wireless hotspots springing up in coffee shops, airport lounges, hotels and convention centers. And as those hotspots upgrade to the new high-speed Wireless-G standard, you'll be ready to take advantage of the increased speeds.Get connected to current-standard 802.11b networks today, and be prepared for the future with the Wireless-G Notebook Adapter from Linksys.

C-Mello from Dallas, Texas
I was not a big fan of linksys but after I purchased this one from buy.com, put it in myself and ran the cd that came with it and it's been running ever since. never had any problem with it about 2 years now.

4 of 5 Save yourself some money. Sunday, June 03, 2007
A Customer from commack, ny
I have an older Linksys card that has been working without any problems for a few years now. You don't even know it is there. I wanted to upgrade my security to WPA2, so since the Linksys tend to be a bit more expensive, I decided to buy a cheaper, Trendnet card for $20. I thought by now all 54G cards should work the same. Big mistake. What a piece of cra... The card would take 2-3 minutes to connect, and half the time I had to reboot to get it to work. I threw it in the garbage. So I got the Linksys, installed it, works flawlessly. The lesson, you get what you pay for, but the lesson cost me $20 this time. The only downside, the version I got was v3, I expected one of the new one's they are up to v8 now.

5 of 5 Easy Setup! Wednesday, February 14, 2007
A Customer from Long Island, NY
I upgraded from the wireless B card to this one, and my connection speed increased by a factor of 5, as promised. The CD did the setup. The wireless B card acted somewhat inconsistently, but this one is dead on. I cannot recommend the Linksys line enough. If you're looking for easy setup, and reliable use, go with this, and its matching router.

5 of 5 It just works Saturday, January 20, 2007
Gretchen Macdowall from Arlington, MA
The Linksys card took about 10 minutes from unpacking it to running. The Linksys router, which I had already, has a button that you push on the front that configures the card for you. I've had the card for a week or so now and have had no trouble with it. Yay Linksys!!

5 of 5 Perfect for the traveler Monday, July 25, 2005
A Customer from Salt Lake City, UT
I'm on the road a lot. This inexpensive little card quickly and simply links my laptop to the hotel high speed wireless internet networks that are virtually everywhere now. The card is fast and works great. I'm not much of a computer/network guru, but this network adapter was easy to install and set up following the instructions that came with it. I'm buying another for my daughter's laptop. I recommend it.

5 of 5 Great Once I figured it out!! Thursday, December 04, 2003
A Customer from Collinsville, MS
I had to return my card, but there was nothing wrong with it. If you are having trouble connecting after buying this card then simply change the channel at which the card and the router operate on. Tech support told me to go from the default channel of 6 to 11 and it got worse. I set both channels to channel 1 and now the card works great. I even stepped on the card as it was sticking out of my laptop and it still works fine after I bent it back. Great little product, I am buying another for my wifes laptop.

1 of 5 No Linux Support Wednesday, July 02, 2003
A Customer from NYC
Even though this card *may* be better, faster, and more problem free than the "orinoco classic gold" 11b card, Linksys ( as well as all others that have 54g ) just do not provide any way, with either documentation, or a device driver that may be used to get their hardware to work on linux. The "orinoco classic gold" does have linux support which makes the orinoco an overwhelmingly better choice for those who work using the Linux OS.

5 of 5 Great Card - But Not Perfect for Linksys Routers Tuesday, June 17, 2003
Hotmonkee from Houston, TX
I think that this card is very good and easy to use. I used the most updated drivers with this card from Linksys and have been surfing happily. Of note, I have used this card on 2 different D-Link routers (both only operating at 802.11b levels) without any problems. I tried using this card with the Linksys BEFW11S4 and I got my FIRST blue screen with XP ever. It said that my data was now corrupted. Also, it would not let me use MSN Messenger either. I think that this is a great card, but the drivers need to be updated to operate with Linksys' own products. I have been using it happily with the D-Link 614+ and getting about 60% signal through 2 walls. Even at this signal drop, my speeds from different speed tests are only 5-10% slower than directly attaching my computer to a Cat5 cable. Overall, I think this is a great card. Not much power consumption, and drivers in 7/03 will make it fully compatible with all G series products. I am looking forward to this and hope that this will correct any intra-operability problems.

5 of 5 Lynksys/BUY.COM premier answer/delivery Monday, June 02, 2003
Philip A. Shelton , investigator, writer. p3@sb.net from Santa Barbara, CA
I buy equipment for my business, and almost as much equipment for my home. I am a great computer buff, tinkerer, and well, consumer, and I make a living at it. I like new stuff, new ideas, new applications of new technologies. I like shopping around, and I do every time. If there's a manufacturer of hardware I am unaware of, it would be a great day of discovery for me. But for the business of getting things done, creating and maintaining a networked intranet, or reliable and secure internet connection, I have come to always start looking to purchase it from BUY.COM. If I have done my homework, as I always do on new equipment, and have decided on a product that fits our needs best, and is reliable, well built, and available, I go directly to BUY.COM, and it's rare they don't have it in stock at a very good discount. Today I have decided to move some of the business at one location, and my 8 computers PC/Mac home system up from 802.11b to 802.11g WiFi, I have decided on the excellent Linksys. It's all here. Desktops, printers, notebooks. They will supply it quickly at great prices, and will work with you if you have erred and want to return or exchange. No e-business I have found (and I did look) can touch BUY.COM for their excellent cooperation with the buyer, or willingness to exchange or accept for return most any item if you have not wrecked it beyond recognition or waited more than a month to ask. They are double-quick turn-around wizards and no-fault return reason businessmen. They believe you are honest, and they treat you that way. You will think this is an exaggeration until you buy from them, and especially if you need help within a month of the purchase. You are in for a treat. I dare you to find fault.

5 of 5 Easy to work with Tuesday, January 21, 2003
Khalid from Maryland
I use this PC Card with my Linksys WRT54G Wireless Router and I get about 47% signal strength, even though the router is two floors above! Extremely fast and great for Wireless Internet and file sharing. Best if you can place your router in the middle of your home for a better overall signal for most wireless users. Setup and installation was a breeze, except for two files that were not located on my Windows 98 SE CD, I just copied them from a Windows XP computer that already had those files installed. A bit more expensive than 802.11b cards, but you got about twice the speed. Overall a very good buy. I have worked with Linksys wired Routers before this one, and they worked like a charm, which is why I chose to go with Linksys for my wireless network.

5 of 5 Doesn't get much better than this! Monday, January 13, 2003
roy@SupportOnline.BIZ from Long Beach, CA
This card rocks. Compared to an Orinoco Gold, the Linksys card is by far more sensitive, provides better connections & interoperates with 802.11b perfectly. In the past the Linksys cards have been know for their poor RF performance. Not so for the WIRELESS G 54MBPS PC CARD 802.11g! At any price, and the price is right, the WIRELESS G 54MBPS PC CARD 802.11g outperforms any laptop card I've ever used.
