Product Guides

New SecureEasySetup feature makes wireless configuration push-button simple.
The Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router is really three devices in one box. First, there's the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect both screaming fast Wireless-G (802.11g at 54Mbps) and Wireless-B (802.11b at 11Mbps) devices to the network. There's also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together. Connect four PCs directly, or attach more hubs and switches to create as big a network as you need. Finally, the Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection.

Once your computers are connected to the Router and the Internet, they can communicate with each other too, sharing resources and files. All your computers can print on a shared printer connected anywhere in the house. And your computers can share all kinds of files -- music, digital pictures, and documents. Keep all your digital music on one computer, and listen to it anywhere in the house. Organize all of your family's digital pictures in one place, to simplify finding the ones you want, and easing backup to CD-R. Utilize extra free space on one computer when another's hard drive starts to fill up.

The new push button setup feature makes it easy to configure your wireless devices. Just push the button on the router and on your other SecureEasySetup-enabled wireless device to automatically create an encryption-secured wireless connection. Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) protects your data and privacy with up to 128-bit industrial-strength encryption. The Router can serve as a DHCP Server, has a powerful SPI firewall to protect your PCs against intruders and most known Internet attacks, supports VPN pass-through, and can be configured to filter internal users' access to the Internet. Advanced configuration is a snap with the web browser-based interface.

With the Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router at the center of your home or office network, you can share a high-speed Internet connection, files, printers, and multi-player games with flexibility, speed, security and simplicity!

5 of 5 It's OK, but some connection issues Tuesday, May 06, 2008
Teddy95 from Xenia, OH
This Linksys router drop internet connection not as often as other guys complaint but it does. I do unplug and plug it back again and works fine. Then work for a long while until next freeze. I have it for almost a month now and during that time it has only freeze twice. For me it is not a big problem, beside that works great.

4 of 5 OK, but some connection issues Saturday, March 22, 2008
A Customer from Redondo Beach, CA
I've had this router for a few weeks. Set-up with the included software was straigtforward, although the software seemed to spend an excessive amount of time finding the router, and it looks for it frequently. It worked fine until recently, when my upstream connection became very slow, to the point that I could not upload jpg image files without the transfer timing out. I finally reset the router and the problem disappeared. So far it hasn't happened again.

5 of 5 Dependable Workhorse Wednesday, March 19, 2008
Dave from Grainesville, FL
I have used multiple routers over the years and for home use, I keep returning to the Linksys brand router. The router and wireless setup is consistent with previous versions, which is straight forward and easy to install. As a previous reviewer reported, the Linksys router will outlive your cable modem several times over. It is a solid device.

5 of 5 Great Router Sunday, March 16, 2008
Spidy67 from Maine
I have had this router for around 4-5 yrs. I thought it was failing and decided to purchase a new one. I have the new router still in its box since my old wrt54g still works fine. This is a great router it has worked flawlessly for years, wish i could say the same for my isp's modem.

5 of 5 Linksys quality Friday, March 07, 2008
Bogdan from Atlanta, GA
I use one of there from dec 2005. I just bought another one, for my sis. Because she has a DSL connection, it took me over an hour to make the router understand what it was supposed to do. The Wireless Assistant (if I remember the name of the application on the CD) gave me headaches, refusing to connect even after I entered the user name and password for the PPPoE connection. So, I decided to configure the router by myself. It took me 10 minutes. Strong signal, no problems.

5 of 5 Great Tech Support Tuesday, February 26, 2008
A Customer from Wisconsin Dells
I purchased this wireless router for use with Verizon DSL. The step-by-step easy configurator is simple enough to follow, but the router local ip address (for advanced router set up) and the dsl modem local ip address (for advanced modem set up) collided. After trying all of the self-guided trouble resolutions, I eventually needed to call Linksys tech support. They identified the problem and walked me through the solution very quickly.

4 of 5 Works great once you get set up Monday, February 25, 2008
Mike from Wake Forest, NC
I followed the directions on the CD sent with the router. I couldn't get it working right wirelessly. I finally did get it working by myself with no security, but not with security. I called Tech Support and got as far as I could go with the "self help" option. I finally had to ask for a real person, which took about 30 minutes of being on hold to get. She had me download updated software to configure my router, but it still failed to make a connection with security enabled. I got transferred to a different tech which took about another 10 minutes. With his help I had it running with security enabled in about another 10 minutes. Once it was set up right, it worked great. It just took about 2 hours to set up.

2 of 5 Linksys Router - Not at all valued Saturday, February 23, 2008
Sutapan Pal from Manchester,CT
Last Month I purchased Link sys Router Model No. Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router - WRT54G. But I am not at all satisfied with the performance. First of all it is not easy to install, almost took 4-5 hour to install. Secondly, not at all user friendly to add/remove computer to/from the router. For first couple of weeks the performance was really good but as the time progresses the permormance are downgrading. I am not at all happy with the router and planning to replace it.

4 of 5 You can beat the price and the firewall is weak Saturday, February 23, 2008
A Customer from McDonough, Georgia
This is a good old standby but still lacks the ability to block IP ranges in the firewall as seen in the better D-link routers. It also does not seem to work with my older wireless B handheld devices whereas the D-link works fine. Since my purchase, I have found lower prices. If you need a really good firewall, get a D-link.

5 of 5 Easy Hookup Thursday, February 21, 2008
A Customer from Massena, NY
This router was very easy to hookup with the CD that was included. I have little computer knowledge and I was able to hook this up and link up with my desktop and laptop. I received my order very quickly but did not receive my $10 credit from Google. There is no way to contact Google and I ended up having to call Buy.com, who is taking care of getting the credit issued. Very good company to deal with.

I love this router. Performance wise it's great. Hook up was easy. Easy to use but I had to get tech support on because it wasn't properly configured when I got it. It took almost 90 minutes online with them.

5 of 5 Best value, get the TNC antennas if possible Wednesday, February 13, 2008
VICTOR from Alajuela, Costa Rica
This is the router I'll recommend to everybody (house, SOHO, etc.). The quality is very good, you can encrypt your connections with the WPA or WEP, add MAC Address filtering and besides that, you can use one of the four Network SSID keys to increase your network security, so no matter if somebody has you key or your ID, they will not stole your speed connectivity if they are not in your MAC Filter list. That is why I love the product: cheap, good, a lot of configuration flavors and you are always protected by a CISCO technology product.

5 of 5 Quite Happy Wednesday, February 13, 2008
A Customer from East Lansing, MI
Our old Linksys router was acting up, so I started shopping for a new one. I am quite new with Buy.com, but I had been happy with recent purchases, so I went there first. I was tempted to spend less money and buy another brand, but purchased the Linksys, which is pretty much an upgraded version of what we have used for several years. My only concern was that for someone who knows as little as myself about routers, the comparisons were not clear. I went with what I was familiar with, and bought it. It came quickly. I did have an issue with the installation. I followed the instructions to the letter, and ended up re-installing my old router. They are meant for a customer who is competely new to routers, or has another brand. However, a phone call to the Linksys tech line, and I was up and running within 15 minutes or so. I am very pleased with the performance, and the value was also good.

5 of 5 Easy setup on DSL Wednesday, January 30, 2008
Robert from Kittery, Maine
<b>Ease of Use:</b> Having set up prior wireless networks, but having never installed a router behind a DSL connection, some quick research was necessary. The router was installed behind a Westell 6100, which in itself was operating as a router, so there were a couple of options. Some quick research on the Internet provided me with instructions on how to render the Westell to a simple bridge and set up the Linksys product to handle making the PPP connection to the DSL provider and serve-up DHCP. Rather than deal with setting up subnets and the like, this option was sufficient for the installation and went quite smoothly. (<i>The process was greatly aided by the fact that document I located on the Internet dealt with an installation using these two specific product models.</i>) <p><b>Value:</b> This connection was basically in support of a few laptops already embedded with 802.11G, so I appreciated that for a lower price I could avoid buying the 'SpeedBooster' option (which requires 'SpeedBooster' hardware at both endpoints). <p><b>Performance - Connectivity:</b> Installed on the second floor of a typical 1600 SQ FT cape-style house, signal strength has been great on first and second levels. (...haven't tested from basement level yet...) Once set up, laptops locate and connect very quickly. <p><b>Performance - Speed:<
