| | | The Linksys PrintServer for USB with 4-Port Switch is a double upgrade for your network. First, it lets you connect a USB printer directly to your network, eliminating the need to dedicate a PC to print serving chores. Using a PrintServer frees up your "print share PC" so you don't have to leave it on all the time. It also removes the printing bottleneck, and sets your PC free to do more useful work.
In addition, the PrintServer includes a 4-port 10/100 switch, so you can easily add more devices to your network. All four ports are auto speed negotiating, and have automatic MDI/MDI-X crossover detection, so you don't have to worry about the cable type. Each port independently negotiates the best speed and half- or full-duplex mode, for up to 200Mbps of bandwidth per port. Fast store-and-forward switching prevents damaged packets from being passed on into the network.
A user-friendly Setup Wizard makes installation easy, the compact case fits anywhere, and the one megabyte print buffer size handles even large graphics-intensive print jobs. Let the Linksys PrintServer for USB with 4-Port Switch bring efficiency to your printing tasks and expand your network, in one cost-effective device.

5 of 5 Discouraged at first, now very happy! Wednesday, April 30, 2008 dbacon@wowway.com from Shelbt Twp, MI
I tried to get this to run with my HP 3520 printer and my Kodak 5300, and just couldn't figure it out. I finally set it aside for further study. Today, I just hooked it up to my HP 7350, and it worked!
All I did was plug it in, and when it recognized the printer, that was all I needed. I couldn't believe how simple it was to do.
So the key to it is: If it recognizes your printer, you are all set. Would be nice if other users wrote in to say what printers they have found it recognizes. I gave the performance a "3" because of the lack of info on printers, but it performs to "5" level with the right printer.

1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 5 of 5 Great product - small issue with refurb Monday, February 25, 2008 Michael from Holland, MI
Linksys has a great product - the only issue is that it was refurbished and when you are setting it up, Linksys has not done a hard reset to the unit so you are blocked from proceeding by the password screen - the default password will not work. You have to unplug the unit, hold in the reset button, plug it back in and wait for 5 seconds, then proceed to follow the instructions as if it were a new product. Great otherwise.
