It bought this product because I trust the company as well. So I recommend people to need an excellent product with high quality service that linksys offer. The shape of the product is too small; it can fit anywhere in the desk. It is amazing phone adapter. Buy it as soon as you can because 100% you like it. Best wishes,
sorry for my english Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Works behind a router Friday, August 11, 2006 Ray from Mt. Laurel, NJ
A little tedious, but can use the clever interactive voice menu to first disable dhcp and set network parameters (LAN IP, netmask, gateway). Then, need to enable port forwarding on your router to allow internet to reach the adapter. Works on decent DSL circuit with default quality settings. However, this device will likely compete with your LAN traffic unless it is directly connected to the DSL/Cable modem. However, in this case you lose internet since it does not have a built-in switch (only 1 RJ45 jack on the device). So, in order to get what you want (internet and VOIP), you need to go through the somewhat tedious procedure described above. Was this review helpful?

At no fault of the Linksys box, Vonage has locked the box so that it can not be used on other VoIP services. We have many customers that are angered at not being able to use their Vonage PAP2 if they leave the service and want to use Asterisk. It is better to pay the slightly higher costs to get a non-Vonage device.
The LinkSys PAP2 is an excellant box and quite tolerant of bad networks. It is the only device that we recommend for business environments. Was this review helpful?

I've been using this item and Vonage for nearly a year now. I use Cox cable internet, a DLink router, and this adapter. The sound quality is excellent and the Vonage service has always worked (it hasn't "dropped out"). With Cox dropping its prices for internet to $40, and with the $15 vonage plan (500 minutes, no kids ;-) ) I have great internet service and a great, reliable phone service at a very competitve price.

I recommend this product and Vonage service to everone I know!

To anyone who has had problems with their cable internet provider, make sure they come out to your house or apartment and test the signal quality from the outside box to your inside line. I've had to have that line replaced (at the cable provider's expense) and signal quality and service improved dramatically. Sometimes the older cables that were originally run degrade and need replacing. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Awesome Wednesday, December 21, 2005 Rich from Glenmont, NY
Took some getting used to at first but well worth it. I would pay more for this than my regular service. All the added features are amazing.... voicemails are emailed to me as mp3's so i can check my messages where ever I have internet access, call forwarding, caller ID, call waiting, etc etc etc. My bill is never more than $30. NEVER !!!! Good bye verizon. Was this review helpful?

When I was investigating VoIP options, I looked at Vonage but was turned off by the cancellation fee. To me that said the company was not confident in the quality of the service.
I ended signing up with www.iconnecthere.com (no cancellation fee) and they currently send a free Linksys adaptor if you sign up for one of their calling plans. Setup was simpy a matter of entering the MAC address listed on the bottom of the adaptor on their web site. I am very satisfied with the quality of the service, and decided to use it as my only phone.
Whichever company you choose for the service provider, the performance of the Linksys device is solid and I have not experienced one glitch. Was this review helpful?

I had high hopes in switching over to Vonage. My trouble was not so much w/ Vonage, but more with Cablevision / Optimum Online maintaining connectivity. Had times where we couldn't make or receive calls because of the cable system -- yes, I had many calls w/ their customer service. I'm being pressured by the family to switch back to POTS (sigh . . .). Vonage performance is just too reliant on non-Vonage services. Was this review helpful?

After connecting the PAP2 to my existing router and plugging in the phone line, I went on-line to setup my new Vonage service. I entered the necessary information, along with the PAP2's MAC address, and it said my account was setup. I took my cell phone and dialed the new vonage number - IT RANG INSTANTLY! There was no waiting for the vonage service to be setup. The whole process took me less then 45 minutes to setup and the setup documentation was easy to follow. Someone did their homework when designing the PAP2. Was this review helpful?

This device only works with Vonage. It is locked in to Vonage service so you will not be able to use this device with any other VOIP provider. Make sure Vonage is what you want BEFORE you buy. Was this review helpful?

I have had the equipment and service through Vonage for over three months now. The first box I got had a problem, but Buy.com replaced it right away. The biggest problem I have been with my internet service provider, not Vonage or Linksys's fault. The only reason I am keeping a traditional phone is for my Dish TV system to call into in and as a backup. Less delay than what you find on a cell phone. Called Mexico for pennies. This is a great alternative to a traditional phone line. I suggest buying a phone system like the Uniden DCT-648/2 Expandable Cordless (Available on Buy.com and elsewhere) that is expandable up to 4 handsets and will allow you to have multiple phones through your home. I pay over $60.00 for Verizion and have less features. Sound quality is great. Set-up was a breeze. The only challange is wiring the the rest of the house up. PAP2 is inside and the junction box is outside. The only downside was they were out of area codes for my local area. I really love the call transfer feature! Was this review helpful?

I've had Vonage service for over 1 year now. We kept our regular phone service for the first 8 months since we didn't know what to expect in terms of quality and reliability. So far, it's been great. We make a lot of long distance calls to Canada - over 2300 minutes last month so it's really the only choice. I was able to re-wire the home so now all the phone jacks are on the VoIP system. Vonage has documentation on this also. If you spend more then $20/month on long distance and have broadband, you're wasting your money unless you use Vonage. Options are great and love the virtual number also. You can't go wrong with this service. Just get a back-up UPS system for the cable modem and Vonage adaptor in case of a power outage. It's worth the $40 investment. Just try and see for yourself. Was this review helpful?

I've been using Vonage since the summer '04. This is an excellent product and service, very top notch. Calls are crystal clear, price is very low. I've referred a sister, a cousin, and several friends. All are extremely satisfied with the service (and now I've got many free months of service to boot, because of the referrals). Buyers be aware: There is a $39.99 cancellation fee if you terminate Vonage any time after the 14 day free-trial. the monthly fee seems like a good deal, however, if you're not satisfied, the $39.99 cancellation fee doesn't make it as cheap.
Just thought buyers should be aware of this. I still plan on buying it, however. Was this review helpful?

I've had vonage now for 6 months and have had no issues what so ever. My vonage is crystal clear and cheap. Hardly any taxes, I highly recommend Vonage to anyone. They have a great referral program too. I haven't had to pay my bill now for five months, except $1.80 in taxes each month. Linksys phone adapter works great!!! Very unique phone features such as voicemail/email voice attachment, simualanteous ring to a forwarded number. So long Qwest!!!!! Was this review helpful?

No problems with Buy.com so far, but it took me an entire day to get this phone configured. I have not had the product that long, but so far it is okay. I am still waiting to hear back from Vonage or Linksys as to why it I had to plug my phone into port 2 to get it to work. It isn't set up the way it is supposed to be, but it works. Hopefully, I will get some support to see if I need to return this to Buy.com for a replacement or if this setup is normal. Was this review helpful?

I have been using for several months. Phone quality at first was not good, however, I found that the problem was in the phone and not the service. After switching out several phones, I was able to get high quality service as good as or better than my local phone company. I am very pleased to save money and the 800 number option was a great money saver. Where else can you get a 800 number for only $4.95 a month? Was this review helpful?

I'm writing in regards to the review that stated he gets humming on his Vonage line. I believe something may be wrong with his setup because on my Vonage line there is no hum. In fact, on many calls it is so quiet I think that the call may have been dropped. Was this review helpful?

This is a great value for the money!! Vonage is the best VOIP at the moment!! The quality of the call could be better. You get to hear a slight humming in the background. Not to bad though. I just think of the amount of money that I am saving then I forget about the humming!! I highly recommend it!! Was this review helpful?
