5 of 5 Linksys 8 port switch Saturday, May 16, 2009 A Customer from Orlando, FL
Works fine with my Linksys 4 Port DSL modem / router. Plug it in, connect the uplink port to the router and everything else to the remaining ports. Really has 9 ports but the one next to the uplink can't be used when using the uplink. Buy.com had the best price even with the shipping. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Works as promised Thursday, April 23, 2009 Yaho from BC. Canada
Have upgraded from the Linksys 5-port unit (needed more ports). Connected my lines and plugged it in and it has worked excellent since. Have had nothing but success will all my Linksys products (router, switches, and a wireless bridge). Buy.com was the best price! Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Great Price & Fast Service Wednesday, January 14, 2009 Denny from Cleveland, OH
I purchased a Linksys 8 Port Workgroup Switch to replace an existing 5 Port Switch which I had outgrown. I powered up the Switch & connected it to my existing Linksys Router. I connected my other devices & everything worked. I also now have a 5 Port Switch for future growth. We use & recommend Linksys products at work and have had no customer complaints. So, I was comfortable purchasing Linksys products.
The Buy.com price was far less then I found elsewhere. The shipping was very reasonable & I received the product very quickly. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Great Product at a Great Price Tuesday, April 29, 2008 Cam MacDonald from Middleboro, MA
Linksys is the best for reliability and performance. I buy only Linksys for home and small business networking. This unit is setup as a sub for a bank of printers and it has worked flawlessly from powerup. Buy.com has the best price on Linksys products. Was this review helpful?

4 of 5 Great Product - Setup Instructions A Bit Lacking Sunday, January 06, 2008 Dano from Tucson, AZ
This is a great product to go with my Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router. It gives me more ports for the multiple computers I run in my home and home office. The only problem with it was minor in that the setup literature is lacking in explaining exactly how to hook it up.
It says to hook the cable modem directly from the router to the switch, then to your router but this simply didn't work. When I hooked up the modem back to the router then used a router port to go to the switch, it worked fine.
So, other than this minor problem, it works great. Excellent value. Was this review helpful?

As with most Linksys products. This one is inexpensive and works great with minimal user setup. Just plug it in and thats it. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Great but a bit too light Tuesday, July 10, 2007 A Customer from Burien, WA
It works as designed. The only reason I marked overall satisfaction as 4 stars is that the unit is too light. If you have more then one patch cable hanging from the back the unit will rise. It does not have enough weight to counter balance the patch cables. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Linksys hub is rock solid Thursday, July 05, 2007 Len from Princeton NJ
As usual this Linksys 8 port hub was a snap to install and runs great. This unit replaced two older four port units and the throughput improved 20%. Was this review helpful?

Any Linksys product has never disappointed me. They are fast, reliable and easy to use. Setup has always been a snap. Recently I needed to expand my network and Linksys made it easy with an 8-port switch. No software to install. I just plugged it in, connected it to my router and I was up and running. Switches are better than hubs because the help guide or "switch" the traffic to where it needs to go. Linksys never seizes to amaze me.
Typically I have to pay a few more bucks than if I had purchased the other guy’s product, but it is worth every penny. My network is fast and secure! Linksys products are built on Cisco technology - Masters of Internet traffic.

I recently ordered and installed the Linksys EtherFast 8-Port 10/100 Switch (New/Workgroup) to replace a (still working) Linksys EtherFast 10/100 5-port Auto-Sensing Hub. My only mistake was not ordering it when I first considered the purchase several months ago.
I had the device hooked up and working in about 5 minutes flat. The instruction guide is still in its wrapper. True. Setup was completely intuitive. Installation was a snap.
The switch connects my three computers and three printers in my small home office network, run by a three-year-old Linksys EtherFast Cable/DSL Router. One of the ports on my new switch has a Linksys EtherFast 3-Port 10/100 PrintServer plugged in, which I also installed today. Both devices worked the first time, just as advertised.
As usual, Linksys has done a virtually perfect job with a niche product. I’m very, very satisfied with the new switch, this dandy little print server, and the other Linksys devices I have and use daily. For price, value, reliability, and ease of use & installation, Linksys owns home networking!

I can't say I really understand what the problem is with this switch, I am on the second one of these... The first one I returned because it was simply hanging after a day or so of running along smoothly -- linksys was happy to exchange it... The second one hangs on occasion jaming up most of my network, which makes me think this is a problem with the product not the single box. My general experience with switches has been that they just work, and don't present difficulties like this... As a result of this experience I have become a bit concerned about linksys's quality control... Funny thing is the netgear hub I had before just sat there and worked for years, until the power supply died. Was this review helpful?

I used to be a big fan of 3Com (OfficeConnect) and CNet, but the Linksys product line is the best "price/performance" for my Small Office users. I was able to purchase the Linksys 8-Port Switch to replace an older CNet 5-Port HUB and the overall performance of the user's small 5-Workstation "Peer-To-Peer" LAN shows noticeable improvement ... And the price was very good for the 8-Port switch ... Plus it has an Up-Link port that allowed the customer to connect to their DSL Modem without using one of the eight (8)10/100 ports. Excellent Product. Switch is very hardy and generates little heat. I've got this switch in my wiring closet (small space) and it stays on all the time. No problems. Other 100TX switches generate lots of heat / noise but this one is great. Was this review helpful?

This switch holds ture to the Linksys quality that we all know and love. The switch is very easy to use supporing every OS that supports TCP/IP. I prefer Linksys over 3COM prodcuts because Linksys dose not leave you broke after you buy one prodcut. Was this review helpful?
