4 of 5 Good internet phone Thursday, July 03, 2008
    A Customer from MO, STL

Actually I purchased this product so that I can use it outside the US so that people can contact me in the US as they do using regular phone. But it did not work - may be due to ports blocked by the internet service provided from other conuntries. It is working very fine in the US and I use it in the place of regular Landline telephone (by utilizing the skype in and skype out facility). Still I will have to have a mobile to support 911 calls. So it is just 6-8 dollars a month in place of 30+ dollars a month for regular telephones. Over an above I am reachable on phone for others using skype

3 of 5 Read if you are using this as a backup phone.. Sunday, June 22, 2008
    A Customer from Dallas, TX
This phone is built well overall and the wireless range is nothing short of great. However, the phone seems to "lock up" if left unused (no out going / incoming calls) for more than a few hours. At this stage, you cannot place calls or receive calls. Someone trying to call you will get an "unavailable" message. Some people on the linksys forums suggest rebooting the phone to get it operational again. This is not only annoying but also kills the very purpose of the phone - to receive calls. Especially because the display and everything looks normal. To date, Linksys does not have a fix. People have been complaining about this in the forums for a few months now. I have a suspicion that you may not face this issue if you use it frequently. Of course, most of us would leave it unused for a few hours overnight and that is enough for this phone to lockup. Other than this, when it works, it is great. There are a few other minor annoyances which I can live with.

5 of 5 It is awesome!! You have to see it to believe it. Saturday, May 24, 2008
    Sam from Philadelphia, PA
It is my first time using a VOIP phone even though I have been using various websites for making long distance calls. I should say this product is one of the best after almost a week of research to find an VOIP phone, which is compatiable with SKYPE. It is really easy to set up as you just need to connect one side to the router and then plug in the power. Then sign in SKYPE account on your phone. The phone takes about 16hrs (based on manufacture standard) to be fully charged, however, I charged it for 5hrs and it was 3/4 full already. The volume is crystal clear, I meant CRYSTAL CLEAR!! If you want to say $$ on your long distance bills, this is the one to go.

    5 of 5 You can't go wrong! Thursday, May 01, 2008
    Jet from Los Angeles, CA
I purchased this phone a few days ago and have been using it since then. It is definitely one of the great investment I have ever made. The quality of the voice on the phone is amazing, it felt just like a regular phone. I do not have a regular phone line, I use my cell all the time, but this phone is great when you need to make long distance call. I have joined Skype's unlimited $9.95 plan (Worldwide). I am so happy that I got it!! *Skype account is needed to make this a money saving product for you!!

    5 of 5 Linksys CIT400 Tuesday, March 25, 2008
    A Customer from Ogden, UT
After reading many reviews and already owning the Linksys CIT200, I decided we would upgrade to a Voip phone that didn't require my computer to be on 24/7. The phone arrive very quickly from Buy.com, thank you! Once unpacked and installed, I was very pleased with the easy setup. I already had a Skype account and it was just a matter of logging into my account from the phone, again an easy process. As far as performance, the phone's audio quality is just a bit lower in audio volume as our CIT200. But, this was not significant enough to bother my wife or me. Also, I was able to adjust the volume up to maximum from the Skype account to compensate. The battery life was about the same as our CIT200, around 4-5 hours of talk time and 24 hours standby. Overall, we are please with the performance of the CIT400 and the ability to use the phone without being dependent on a computer. As far as the regular phone line, we are not using that function and cannot give input.

1 of 5 Save your money Thursday, January 24, 2008
    A Customer from Tarrytown, NY
After reading many reviews, I took the plunge and bought this phone. I was pretty excited. Unfortunately, the phone didn't live up to my expectations. Poor sound quality. Dropped calls. Poor battery life. Has a cheap feel to it. Overall I was very displeased with this phone. I do not recommend it. Hopefully something better will come out in 2008.

5 of 5 Great Skype phone, great price Tuesday, January 15, 2008
    Joe H. from Philadelphia, PA
After reading many reviews on different Skype phones, I decided to take the plunge and purchase this unit. Had this phone up and running in 15 minutes without any issues. For me, the phone has been great. Excellent sound, no echoing, and adequate volume. I use a headset with this phone and couldn't be happier. In other reviews I have read that the battery life was less than expected; I have had no issues with battery life. I can talk for a few hours, have handset off the charger all day, and still have 3/4 battery. Tip- if you have a quick NIMH battery charger around, use that to charge the 2 AAA 750 mAh batteries for the first time; you'll save yourself the 16hr wait time to use the phone.

4 of 5 DECT Phone ? Interferes with Wireless Keyboard and Saturday, December 01, 2007
    A Customer from Hickory, NC
I have Netgear SPH 200D and now this LinkSys CIT 400. Unlike Netgear this one interferes with wireless keyboard and mouse signals forcing me to change to wired keyboard. This is supposedly and DECT phone and should not do that. The looks and feel are better than Netgear.

    5 of 5 Total Convenience Friday, May 25, 2007
    Lee from Port Ludlow, WA
My Linksys CIT 400 works flawlessly. The convenience of being able to be anywhere in the house, garage, or yard, and not miss any Skype or landline calls is a real luxury. As normal with these products, the users manual leaves a lot to be desired. Fortunately, the set up, and operation of the instrument is very intuitive. Easy to use and very reliable.

4 of 5 Can we all say bye bye MA-BELL Friday, April 06, 2007
A Customer from Fort Lauderdale Florida
This new CIT400 phone offers great flexibility to switch from regular landline and skype internet calling. Im still pinching myself after realizing how much money I am saving w/this phone w/the usa/can plan from skype is currently 24.95 a yr unlimited. With a basic local plan of 20 bucks and skype this is unbeleivable. Cons:Menus and screen scrolling process can be made a little better. other than that this phone is a revolutonary technology. Thank You BUY.COM for a great deal

4 of 5 Short battery life Friday, March 16, 2007
    A Customer from Los Angeles
I'll agree to most of the good points raised by other reviewers on this product. Here are the ones I didn't see on reviews before buying. 1. The handset drain the battery really quickly (less than 1 day!), even when it is sleeping (LCD off). I have to leave it on the charger all the time. Why not use 3 batteries like most of the regular handsets? Need to get the latest 1000 mAh NiMH AAA batteries. Rechargable Lithium battery would be nice. Two 750mAh AAA NiMH batteries are included. 2. No volume control. Some VOIP calls can be really weak, volume control can help compensate for that. It helps also when attaching a headset to the handset. 3. There should be an option in the handset menu to delete all the history in one shot. Not one by one, because it can hang! Yes, I know I can do this on a computer with Skype installed. 3. Skype software is Linksys's version on the station and upgradable down the road when Linksys release new firmware. No complaints here, but nice to know this fact in advance, not some vague description. 4. Read the manual. Program a contact in the USA is 1+areacode+phonenumber. Or you may be lucky enough to call Turkey. 5. Handset ring tone options not so great. I can't really tell the difference from the ones that I find tolerable. I like the basic phone rings, but ones that I can tell them apart immediately for Skype or land line. Musical tones in the handset is really lousy, IMHO. Maybe Linksys can add some more memory to the station or handset and allow people to upload their favorite tune??? Memory is cheap! After all the nick pick, this is still a great product. No more turning on a computer all the time. Like a wireless phone, as long as battery life still good, you can walk with this anywhere, try that with a 6 pound laptop.

5 of 5 Easy to setup and use Monday, February 12, 2007
    Martin Costa from Weston, Florida
I bought this phone about 10 days ago. The setup is easy, plug everything in & turn it on. The hardest part is to write your skype user name and password into the configuration screen. And that's not too difficult either. Once this is done it takes a few seconds and all your skype contacts show up. The configuration of the land line is even easier, just put your country and area code in. Simple as that. The phone works great in the office and around the house, the reach is about 100 feet around the house. It looks good and works good.
