New SecureEasySetup feature makes wireless configuration secure, and push-button simple.
The Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster is really three devices in one box. First, there's the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect Wireless-G, Wireless-B, and other performance-enhanced SpeedBooster devices to the network. There's also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together. Finally, the Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection.

The Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster incorporates the next generation of Wireless-G (802.11g) networking. SpeedBooster technology is a compatible add-on to standard Wireless-G, which increases "real-world" wireless network performance by up to 35%. Unlike other speed-enhancing technologies, SpeedBooster is fully 802.11 compliant, and a "good neighbor" to other wireless devices and technologies, using a single 2.4GHz channel as specified by the official wireless standard. And, unlike other technologies, with SpeedBooster you'll see an overall speed improvement even when running a mixed network of SpeedBooster and regular Wireless-G devices.

The new push button setup feature makes it easy to configure your wireless devices. Just push the button on the router and on your other SecureEasySetup-enabled wireless device to automatically create an encryption-secured wireless connection. Wi-Fi Protected Access™ (WPA) protects your data and privacy with up to 128-bit industrial-strength encryption and 802.1x authentication and authorization. The Router can serve as a DHCP Server, has a powerful SPI firewall to protect your PCs against intruders and most known Internet attacks, and supports VPN pass-through. Configuration is a snap with the web browser-based configuration utility.

The Router also enables the new Linksys Parental Control Service, which makes it easy for you to keep your family safe on the Internet. First, set individual profiles for time-of-day and day-of-week access restrictions. Then, choosing from 16 different web content categories, you control what each family member is allowed to see. E-mail and instant messaging filters let you decide who can send messages to, and receive messages from, your family. View on-line individualized activity reports anytime. A free trial of the Service is included with the Router.

With the Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster at the center of your home or office network, you can share a high-speed Internet connection, files, printers, and multi-player games with the flexibility, speed, security and simplicity!

5 of 5 Great Product Saturday, October 04, 2008
A Customer from New Freedom, PA
Ordered Thursday night and received Saturday noon. Set up is straightforward. Speed is definitely faster than my older D-Link which started failing. Wireless signal is also stronger - from around 80% jumps to 98%. Only hiccup, a minor, is at the end of set-up, it alerted that internet connection can not be detected. However, immediate checking internet and it worked perfectly and thereafter. This is my very first time to set up a router and worked out real well simply by following instructions step-by-step. A five star.

5 of 5 You can do without the CD... Saturday, September 27, 2008
Michael from Dauton, Ohio
... if you know how to access the router menu (192.168.1.1 password: admin) and know a little about networks, you can set it up without the CD. I didn't want to install anything and had my settings from my old B-router so I just entered those and off it went... Not sure about the speedboost, I guess it's automatically on, cuz I didnt find a setting right away.

5 of 5 Linksys the best of all the rest Friday, July 04, 2008
Thomas from Eatonville, Wa.
This Linksys network Router works great for in house networking, and acess point Has three diferant tears of security to choose from and moves data fast with the speed boost. the only problem I had was with the range of the signal If you live in a mobile home with metal siding and are trying to acess the router from some other out building I sugjest you buy some 7db highgain antennas for the router and your PC card after installing the antennas the signal inproved by 150%. Give them a try you'll like what you bye.

5 of 5 Does just what they say - seamless setup Monday, June 23, 2008
A Customer from Palm Coast, Florida
This router is EXACTLY what was promised and what the other reviewers said. VERY simple hand-holding setup and installation. I didn't read carefully that to make use of the speed-booster, the device you're connecting to needs speed booster also, but that's MY fault. Oh well, so I invested $10 into the future.

3 of 5 Problem with Vista OS Monday, June 16, 2008
A Customer from Los Angeles
I installed the wireless router and works fine with 3 of my xp machines but the laptop with vista never connects. Called CR for help but did not help. He just told me to restart the laptop and call up if problem exists! I believe its some setting that needs to be changed. still trying to figure out. wish it was just easy to install this product

5 of 5 Purchased for use with Mac and PC Tuesday, June 03, 2008
A Customer from Redwood City, CA
Rather than pay the cable company, I opted this route for wireless networking at my house. The "ease of use" rating is lower because I could not set the router up for my Mac without Linksys phone assistance. (The enclosed disk is for PCs only.). And it took two phone calls. During the first call the Linksys help person forgot that the password for my mac must start with a "$", so it looked like everything was progressing well -- but then the password never worked. It took the help person on the second call a while to remember that, but eventually he did. For the PC, you just use the password and do not need to precede it with the "$" (dollar sign). Now both computers access the wireless signal very nicely and the speed is great.

5 of 5 speed booster Sunday, May 18, 2008
D. Schwab from Lynchburg, VA
What an excellent product! It was delivered in two days and I popped in the cd, followed the simple directions and it was hooked up in minutes. I recommend this product to anyone who wants a wireless network and speed booster on their broadband communications. Buy.com service was excellent as well. You will not go wrong with this product and ease of use.

5 of 5 Rock Solid Wireless-G Monday, March 24, 2008
ENGINEER10388 from RALEIGH, NC
CISCO MAKES GOOD GEAR AND THIS ONE IS A GOOD VALUE, ESPECIALLY IF YOU DON'T NEED THE ULTRA SPEED AND LONG RANGE OF WIRELESS-N (WHICH IS STILL TENTATIVE, WITH SOME PRODUCTS REPORTEDLY ACTING UP, ESPECIALLY AT VERY SHORT RANGES). THE SOFTWARE COULD HAVE BEEN A LITTLE MORE USER-FRIENDLY BUT IT'S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE AND YOU'LL HAVE NO PROBLEM IF YOU KEEP BRAIN ENGAGED. ALSO, JUST AS YOUR PC WILL RUN BETTER IF YOU SHUT DOWN REGULARLY, IT'S A GOOD IDEA TO POWER DOWN THE ROUTER EVERY FEW DAYS, THEN THE CABLE/DSL MODEM, WAIT A MINUTE AND REVERSE THE PROCESS (LETTING THE MODEM LINK UP WITY YOUR ISP BEFORE THE ROUTER IS POWERED BACK UP). P.S. >> BUY.COM HAD THE BEST *DELIVERED* PRICE AN EXTENSIVE SEARCH COULD FIND.

4 of 5 Linksys Router with Speedbooster Wednesday, March 19, 2008

Purchased the one with the booster so my son could play his XBox online and my wife could use her new wireless laptop. Able to get a connection fine for the XBox, but need to move around the same room in order to get a connection for the laptop.

5 of 5 Great product but.... Monday, March 17, 2008
A Customer from suffolk,NY
I had a major problem with the set up. After 3 hours on the phone with the support team they said the unit must be defective. I think the problem was that the unit I got said for windows 2000 or XP. Customer support said it should work anyway. When I replaced the same unit that said windows vista it was smooth sailing. So far everything works as it should. If you have windows vista make sure you get the unit that says vista compatible.

5 of 5 Great Product, but not not very easy to setup Monday, February 18, 2008
A Customer from Germantown, MD
I could not connect to the Internet using Linksys after 30 mins of trying, so I called the tech support, and they said there were some "bridge" problem between my internet company (Verizon) and Linksys. After 20-30 mins talking to the tech support, it finally worked. It's a great product, I have to say, although setup was not easy for me.

5 of 5 The best of the best Monday, February 04, 2008
Gary from Alpine, CA
I have owned Wireless routers from Netgear, D-Link, Parker and Linksys. The WRT54GS is far and away the best I have used. I bought the WRTP45G on a special Vonage sale and went back to using the WRT54GS after several months of frustration. I do not know how they can make wireless any better than this. There are some idiosyncracies with expanding out your wireless that may not be plug and play. I guess if you are advanced enough to expand a wireless network you will not find it that bad.

5 of 5 Great choice for performance at low cost Friday, August 17, 2007
A Customer from Sparta, NJ
Ultra easy to install for my first wireless network. The only challenge is that the instructions read more complicated than it really took to plug and play. I see no speed loss comparing directly wired vs wireless, exactly what you would want and expect.

4 of 5 Good product Sunday, July 08, 2007
A Customer from Pittsburgh, PA
Brought this as a replacement to my Netgear wireless router. Easy to install and very responsive customer support when I needed to clarify on Mac. The speedbooster has a good range. The router is in the basement (home-office) and my son in his upstairs bedroom gets good connection speed. Better than Netgear.

5 of 5 A breeze Thursday, June 28, 2007
Tony from Shepherdstown, WV
Setup was really easy on this one. Just follow the instructions and you can't go wrong. The software is fairly easy to use. Make sure to set it up from a wired computer first... but then you can easily make that computer a wireless one if that's your plan. We use the wireless computers in fairly close proximity, but they were easy to set up with the security code and the unit has worked without trouble.

5 of 5 Success - Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router w/Sp Friday, June 15, 2007
wishard426 from York, PA
I was thoroughly impressed with the ease of setting up my router with my satelite internet system. Not being very technically adept, the instructions and internet screen prompts made it quite easy to install and connect through the router. I was able to sync my daughters laptop up wirelessly and she can now roam freely about our house and stay connected. No technician. . . no fees. Thanks Linksys!

5 of 5 Linksys rocks!! Tuesday, May 29, 2007
Mithun Dhar from Seattle, WA
This is my third router, and as they say..thrice is a charm! I plugged it in, and it almost worked right out of the box. Except, I had Windows Vista on my laptop. I called their 1-800 number and some smart punk helped me trouble shoot all the way till it was up and running in less than a minute! It's almost a month and never had a problem so far. I like the simplicity and reliability of this product! Finally, a router that works! Phew! Definitely a good buy, look no further! Happy browsing! -Mithun Dhar

You get a 2 for 1 when you buy this product from Buy.com. They are one of the most reliable and easy to use companies on the Web. Prices are rock bottom. This product is all that it is touted to be. Easy to set up, just takes minutes and your up and running. Linksys and Buy.com. Unbeatable.

5 of 5 Excellent product Saturday, November 04, 2006
A Customer from Detroit, MI
This is my first wireless router and I'm 100% satisfied. Linksys has the best routers, in my opinion. Easy setup, quality hardware, and customer service is tops (I haven't had to use them yet for this router, but have used them in the past with my Linksys wired router). Also, connection, range, and speed are all excellent. I'm in a two-story brick home; router is in my basement and I can use my wireless connection in the upstairs bedroom. I would recommend this router to anyone setting up a home wireless network.

3 of 5 Setup took a long time Thursday, November 02, 2006
iluvblue from san diego, ca
Don't know if it was just me but it took forever to get this working. The setup instructions seemed pretty foolproof. But it kept telling me it couldn't detect the router. I even contacted tech support via the chat option (who, BTW, simply repeated what's already documented). Once I finally got it working it was grand...but then for no apparent reason it fails to detect the router again. Frustrating but I suspect it's my inexperience and not the router itself, and at least I know how what to look for now.

5 of 5 Want a fast router? Buy this one! Thursday, September 28, 2006
HotDog Neck from Dallas,TX
I have had 2 linksys routers including this one. The first one worked great for over a year, then we moved and I stacked it on top of my super hot dsl modem, and in a couple months it started acting up (my fault!). I have gone through 2 different cheaper alternatives before buying this one. Both of the other ones dropped the WL signal ALOT, and both were slow too. This one has NEVER dropped the signal on either of our 2 WL G laptops, or on my xbox 360. Setup is a snap.

5 of 5 Fast and good signal Wednesday, September 27, 2006
A Customer from Shreveport,LA
I am very happy with my new router, I had to buy it when my old one suddenly broke and I thought the speed of the connection was good, however with Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster the connection now is superfast...It was a little bit more complicated to install but it works, you have to install it connected to the computer and shut down everything, reconnect except the router with the computer and that's it

5 of 5 Great Product, easy to intall and great user inter Monday, September 18, 2006
Sean from New York, NY
Although I only paid for standard shipping, I received my router the day after I purchased it. It was very easy to install and I had my home network up and running within 30 minutes. The best part about this router is that it walks you through the set up or your secure, password protected wireless network. I have used Belkin routers in the past and I have had nothing but trouble with them, this is the best router you can buy.

5 of 5 Awsome Router - Time to Upgrade to G Monday, September 04, 2006
A Customer from Bloomfield, Michigan
After finally upgrading from Linksys "B" to the Linksys "G", we couldn't be happier. The cost is very low due to the emergance of the New "N" routers......This "G" is much faster, has more range, and is more reliable than "B".

4 of 5 Great Wireless Router Saturday, April 15, 2006
A Customer from Valparaiso, IN
After receiving this router I quickly had it configured and operational in my mixed 802.11b and 802.11g environment. I purchased this router because it had great reviews in mixed environments where most routers default to the lowest common denominator. Speed increase was quite noticeable from my 802.11g laptop compared to when connecting through the D-Link 802.11b device this router replaced. The only drawback I found with this router (and apparently is the case with all Linksys wireless routers) is that there is no provision in the configuration for making DHCP address reservations for networked devices based on MAC address. This feature, which is commonly available from other manufacturers, is very useful if you have network printers, wireless bridges, or other devices that should maintain the same address. Your only option to assure that these devices always get the same address is to use static IP addressing. Not a huge deal but seems silly that Linksys doesn’t offer this feature.

4 of 5 Does not have 64 MB RAM Monday, February 06, 2006
A Customer from Centreville, VA
Depending on the version of WRT54GS Router it will have only 16MB or 32MB of RAM not 64MB as stated here. The current version (v5.0)only has 16MB as with version 4.0. For the average user, the size of RAM will not make a difference in terms of Internet surfing but is an issue for file sharing between multiple computers on your network. Version 3 or 3.1 is the latest version with 32MB. The serial number starts with CDF8 for v3.0 and CDF9 for v3.1. Regardless, this is a very good wireless router, suiting an average user's needs.
