Product Guides

The Wireless-N Gigabit Router is really three devices in one box. First, there's the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect to the network without wires. There's also a built-in 4-port full-duplex Gigabit Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together. Finally, the Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection.

The Access Point built into the Router uses the very latest wireless networking technology, Wireless-N (draft 802.11n). By overlaying the signals of multiple radios, Wireless-N's "Multiple In, Multiple Out" (MIMO) technology multiplies the effective data rate. Unlike ordinary wireless networking technologies that are confused by signal reflections, MIMO actually uses these reflections to increase the range and reduce "dead spots" in the wireless coverage area. The robust signal travels farther, maintaining wireless connections much farther than standard Wireless-G.

With Wireless-N, the farther away you are, the more speed advantage you get. It works great with standard Wireless-G and -B equipment, but when both ends of the wireless link are Wireless-N, the router can increase the throughput even more by using twice as much radio band, yielding speeds far faster than standard Wireless-G. But unlike other speed-enhanced technologies, Wireless-N can dynamically enable this double-speed mode for Wireless-N devices, while still connecting to other wireless devices at their respective fastest speeds. In congested areas, the "good neighbor" mode ensures that the Router checks for other wireless devices in the area before gobbling up the radio band.

To help protect your data and privacy, the Router can encode all wireless transmissions with industrial-strength 256-bit encryption. It can serve as your network's DHCP Server, has a powerful SPI firewall to protect your PCs against intruders and most known Internet attacks, and supports VPN pass-through. Configuration is a snap with the web browser-based configuration utility.

The incredible speed of Wireless-N makes it ideal for media-centric applications like streaming video, gaming, and Voice over IP telephony, and gives you plenty of headroom to run multiple media-intense data streams through the network at the same time, with no degradation in performance. With the Linksys Wireless-N Gigabit Router at the center of your home or office network, you can share a high-speed Internet connection, files, printers, and multi-player games, and run media-intensive applications at faster than 10/100 wired network speeds, without the hassle of stringing wires!

5 of 5 Best Router Ever Monday, February 16, 2009
Richard Krakowski from Chicago, IL

This Linksys product is the easiest to install, more along the line of "plug and play" installation. It truly is a product for the computer challenged.

5 of 5 Excellent Range Monday, February 09, 2009
A Customer from north NJ
Was easy to setup (just make sure your firewall software is updated to accept new hardware). Range is excellent. Wireless signal sent from second floor room to the basement with 82% signal strength received.

5 of 5 This is the one to have Friday, January 09, 2009
carol from Pea Ridge, AR.
Very easy to hook up. We do not have the highest speed DSL, but we do feel this router sped up our connection as well as helped us with our wireless connection for our laptop. Highly recommend. Buy.com has the best price.

5 of 5 EXCELLENT Wednesday, November 19, 2008
A Customer from Delray Beach, FL
I have used Linksys products for years including several different routers for different homes. This one was the easiest to install and get running and the best performance. Price from Buy.com was much lower than elsewhere.

5 of 5 Linksys WRT310N Wireless-N Gigabit Router Works P Wednesday, September 24, 2008
H. Alan Hoover from Norcross GA
I purchased this Linksys WRT310N Wireless-N Gigabit Router after seeing it advertized in the Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. weekly retail fliers in the papers. They were all "discounting" it to $109 for a special. I solicited it online and came up with Buy.com selling it for $89 and free shipping! Now how could I turn that down?! So my first purchase went flawless, it showed up in about 7 days as I wasn't in any hurry. I gave it to my wife to install, and her not being real electronically skilled or that computer savy, I was wondering if she could install it successfully. Well, within no time at all, and virtually no coaching at all, she had the router installed, the desktop computer it was hard wired to working with no problems and the wireless functionality working smoothly. The Linksys "quick start guide" was VERY simple to follow for my wife and if she can do it, anyone can. Cannot really comment of if it works better than other products or previous Linksys models as this is my first router purchase. Bravo to Linksys on the ease of installing and Bravo to Buy.com for making the transaction perfect and the price the best available the day I bought it!

5 of 5 I LOVE IT Tuesday, September 23, 2008
CP from High Point, NC
It is fast and furious, I love it. It works at blazing speed for me, like others comments it does get a little warm, but I have it over an open bottom, so i'm all good. I am a regular everyday home user, with a small tech background, but i'm not any type of IT genius, nor am I doing anything spectacular with it. So I am 100% happy with it.

5 of 5 Good product overall Wednesday, September 17, 2008
A Customer from J.C., TN
One of the best products in it's class. Did a lot of research and read many reviews before purchasing. Easy to set-up with or without the included setup software. I did not use the included CD for set-up as I prefer to manually set-up the router through the web based browser. ONLY CONCERN as mentioned by other reviewers is the poor ventilation resulting in it becoming very hot. I have mine place so that the rear is raised and at an angle to allow airflow under it. Great price here at buy.com. Got mine for 73.59 with an 8% off coupon I had.

5 of 5 Great Home Router Monday, September 01, 2008
MK from Gorham, ME
I thoroughly researched this model before buying it...This router is great (300mhz, 32mb RAM, gigabit wired net, N draft wireless net), it is the fastest home router CNET had benchmarked as of the end of May '08, but be mindful with all this power comes a lot of heat...this router only appears to stay cooled down well if it's tilted it at a 45 degree or higher angle with the plugin ports facing up. Otherwise you may possibly overheat the router and therefore ruin it within a couple months (as well as experience malfunctions on a weekly basis until permanent damage sets in).

5 of 5 Nice For The Price Wednesday, August 27, 2008
A Customer from Old Orchard Beach, Maine
This router was very easy to set up and seems to work well. It replaced my older WRT54G. I liked the software that came with my ERT54G better, and this one is severly lacking on documentation and descriptions as to what each feature does for you in the router. It does not come with a physical manual either.

3 of 5 Not a bad unit Friday, May 30, 2008
A Customer from fairfield, nj
I bought this unit to be a wireless bridge.. I had to put a 3rd party firmware on it in order to get it to work as a wireless bridge. The unit is a nice looking unit much better then linksys's older models.. the lights on it are way too bright it lights up my room enough to see when the lights are out. it also lacks output power.. not as strong output as older models due to the antenna being inside the unit.. it also only works on a 2.4 ghz and not the great 5.8 that most N's do.. but even with all my complaining it still is doing its job.

3 of 5 Almost Perect- Linksys Is Still Not The Best Thursday, March 27, 2008
cenacantcme from New Jersey
I purchased this from Circuit City the day it was released. I recently had a Netgear Rangemax router, however, when gaming, it had a firmware issue. I decided to purchase this because the salesmen told me "linksys was the best", however, they are clearly not. I am not able to get a signal in places I was able to with my old Netgear router. The signal is constantly being lost, and I am unable to play Counter-Strike efficiently. Just because this router looks nice does not mean it will operate to its potential. The idea of internal antennas always seems sketchy to me, and after purchasing this router, I am going to stay away from linksys.
