The RangePlus Wireless Router is really three devices in one box. First, there's the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect to the network without wires. There's also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together. Finally, the Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection.

The Access Point built into the Router uses smart antenna technology to achieve extended range. Unlike ordinary wireless networking technologies that are confused by signal reflections, the "Multiple In, Multiple Out" (MIMO) technology actually uses these reflections to increase the range and reduce "dead spots" in the wireless coverage area. The robust signal travels farther, maintaining wireless connections much farther than standard Wireless-G.

With MIMO, the farther away you are, the more speed advantage you get. It works great with standard Wireless-G and -B equipment, but when both ends of the wireless link are MIMO enabled, the router can increase the throughput even more by using twice as much radio band. But unlike other speed-enhanced technologies, the RangePlus Wireless Router can dynamically enable this double-speed mode for compatible devices, while still connecting to other wireless devices at their respective fastest speeds.

To help protect your data and privacy, the Router can encode all wireless transmissions with industrial-strength 256-bit encryption. It can serve as your network's DHCP Server, has a powerful SPI firewall to protect your PCs against intruders and most known Internet attacks, and supports VPN pass-through. Configuration is a snap with the web browser-based configuration utility.

With the Linksys RangePlus Wireless Router at the center of your home or office network, you can share a high-speed Internet connection, files, printers, and multi-player games, and run media-intensive applications at incredible speeds, without the hassle of stringing wires!

5 of 5 Amazed Friday, May 22, 2009
A Customer from Murray, Kentucky

This router so far has been a good router. The range is good for the application that I am using it in. I live in an apartment complex and it is able to reach from my room up a floor and across a hallway into my friends room. This includes going through several feet of concrete floors and walls. There is still 3 bars of signal.

3 of 5 Linksys Range+ Wireless Router Friday, March 20, 2009
A Customer from Baltimore Maryland
Price was good and delivery was fast and free, but the wireless performance of the router sucks. Range of signal is one floor of the house, while the Range+ version is to cover better than what I had. It was easy to set up, but wireless is not good.

5 of 5 Good speed and great signal strength Monday, March 16, 2009
Dave from Piscataway, NJ
Pros: It does what a wireless router is supposed to do. The signal strength is great (inside a small apartment, not much of an issue for me). The speed is faster for computers with wireless-N, and I don't see any performance loss compared to the 100mbps wired connection that I have. The wireless security feature is also quite good and robust. The internal antenna design is sleek and looks attractive. Cons: The LEDA automatic setup tool (the CD) was useless for me. I set up everything manually. Other thoughts: Since I am using the internet service provided by the university housing, and it uses the MAC address to register my computer, I had to use the cloning MAC address feature. Once I understood this, the rest of the installation was piece of cake. My earlier Linksys wireless-B router used to drop wireless signals every 6-8 hours. No such problem with this product though. I am satisfied with this product and highly recommend it.

5 of 5 Setup is simple... Tuesday, March 10, 2009
Randy from Westchester Co. , NY
Having installed and maintained a number of wireless routers in the past, I found this unit, with the included software, to be very simple to install. Had no problems setting up for my mother-in-law (!), and the Linksys software is easy to use, if the simple directions are followed. I updated the firmware on the unit (always check for newer releases, as the stocked items are usually out of date). So far, no problems.

The setup was the easiest i have ever had, just follow the instructions and the router setup is automatic, minus the security part, that you have to do yourself.

5 of 5 Awesome Product Monday, December 29, 2008
Valvto from Philadelphia, PA
I have to admit that I was a little worry about going wireless again since I tried Lynksys wireless routers in the past and it was not so easy to setup. Having said that, this new wireless router is a charm. Extremely easy to install and setup the security password. Word of advice: as you're following instructions from the CD, write down userid and password. It's common sense and you will use this information later, but the CD does not indicate you to do so. Overall, this product is really nice. It was so easy to install that I did not have any problems with my internet phone connection. They probably should include instructions on how to do that since there are a lot of internet phone users.

5 of 5 Great router for the money Tuesday, December 23, 2008
A Customer from Marietta, GA
I bought this to replace an old router that was not sending a good wireless signal. I figured the extended range would be ideal since the router would be placed in an upstairs room and I might want signal in the basement. It was very easy to set up and I like the fact it does not have antennae. I understand that Linksys is getting better since linking up with Cisco.

5 of 5 Excellent product as expected Friday, December 19, 2008
Thomas from Geneva, OH
The router works excellently. Setup was simple and straight forward including setting up a fixed address for a network attached storage box. I used manual setup throughout since my primary computer runs Linux, the NAS box is using BSD and my daughter's laptop is running Vista Home Premium. All computer connected without a problem. I would highly recommend this product.

5 of 5 some router Saturday, November 22, 2008
bad tim from st louis, mo
this is an excellen router and it was extremely easy to install. the 'easylink advisor' software didn't run properly when i initially installed it, and we couldn't install it on the other computers in the network because there's no separate .exe file for it. but that's ok, you can ignore the easylink advisor, because it doesn't really do anything. the router has excellent range and speed. i can't tell the difference between being wired and wireless with this thing. i highly recommend it.

5 of 5 Slick router Thursday, July 24, 2008
Tom Dawson from Hawkinsville, GA
Another fine product from Linksys / Cisco. Fits a little nitch to get a little further. As with my review with the model wrt-54, if there are any bad reviews, it's the user not the router.
