The Gigabit 5-Port Workgroup Switch provides non-blocking, wire speed switching for your 10, 100, and 1000 megabit network clients. Drop this switch in place of your current workgroup hub or switch, and you can upgrade your high-requirement workstations to full Gigabit speeds as necessary, while continuing to service other clients at their current speeds. Or build your network from the ground up, with appropriate link speeds for each user's requirements. Apply this switching power to your current hub-based Ethernet network, and your data traffic efficiency will improve several times over. Connect your Gigabit-equipped workstations to the Switch's 10/100/1000 ports for full-duplex, dedicated bandwidth of up to 2000Mbps! It's perfect for graphics, multimedia, and other applications that have to move large files across the network quickly.

With the Gigabit 5-Port Workgroup Switch, you can connect your existing 10/100 Ethernet network to your Gigabit server backbone without any additional equipment. All ports are auto-negotiating, and have automatic MDI/MDI-X crossover detection, so you don't have to worry about the cable type. Address learning and aging is supported, as well as 802.3x flow control with head-of-line blocking prevention to keep your high-speed clients from bogging down in lower-speed traffic.

The Gigabit 5-Port Workgroup Switch from Linksys is the perfect solution for your desktop Gigabit and 10/100 networking needs.

5 of 5 Worked immediatlely... Tuesday, December 09, 2008
Erik The Pope from Woodland, CA, USA

I ordered this because my old switch finally broke (after many years of yeoman service) and wondered how much hassle it would be to install. Answer: none. I took it out of the box, plugged it in (no installation required nor necessary) and it worked. Just like that, end of problem. Like the Aussies say, "No worries, mate".

5 of 5 Good Switch Monday, August 04, 2008
A Customer from Portland, OR
What do you expect from a switch? It should integrate auto-sensing and negotiating into your network. This product does it with no hassle. Noisefree operation, easy setup.

5 of 5 Great product Saturday, July 26, 2008

Works great with existing network, just simply plug in to router and connect other computer/peripherals as necessary. Works right out of the box, you can throw the instructions away!

4 of 5 Perfect for home network Tuesday, July 22, 2008
Donald from Highland, CA
I bought 2 of these from buy.com's ebay store. They work great. I have one I used for ghosting machines, and 1 that I have my Media Center machine hooked up through a wireless bridge. Great performance. I was able to ghost a machine at 968MBps, that is as close to an actual gigabit I have been able to get with any switch. Downside, it doesn't have a fan and gets burning hot on a hot day. Have had to reset it a couple of times because it got so hot it stopped functioning. But one it cooled of started working again fine. For the price it was worth it. I can transfer files to my Media Center machine at lightning speed. AAA+++

5 of 5 It just works! Monday, July 14, 2008
Arian K. from Midwest, USA
It's a great little switch. Five gigabit ports. I wish I had bought two! If you need a switch, not a full-blown router (this won't be enough to create a home network plugged into a network connection) this is a great deal for some great hardware.

5 of 5 Fast Works Great Monday, June 16, 2008
Donald from Highland, CA
I put my printer PC and vonage box on this thing works great, have have it uplinked to a d-link router that provides my DHCP/NAT/Firewall, Works great for that to. I use the switch to Ghost machines since my main machine has a Gigabit Ethernet card and most of the dell optiplexes we image have a Gigabit Ethernet Card. The fastest I was able to ghost at was 987, which made a 20GB HDD image in approx 5 minutes. Didn't slow down my internet connection, no slow down with gaming (got me thinking about hosting my own local gaming server now, now all of my components are connected as fast as they can be.AAA+++ Running perfect no problems. Side note, it didn't seem to work directly connected to my cable modem, because it doesn't have MAC address cloning like the D-Link Router, plus it has no firewall so it is still a good idea to plug it into your existing router/firewall rather than trying to replace it.

5 of 5 Works great, easy setup Monday, April 07, 2008
Mike E from Steger, IL
A switch is supposed to be easy to setup, and this one definitely fits that description. It replaced a generic brand 8 port 10/100 switch I was using for my whole house network and even on the computers that are not gigabit capable, I still noticed performance increases. I did not do any formal testing, but my Comcast connection is more "snappy". The unit is well built, tucks in nicely on the shelf I have it on, and is quieter than the generic one I had. You cant go wrong with Linksys products!

5 of 5 Cabled and use. Tuesday, August 07, 2007
markbell from Houston, Texas
No problem with this device. I have ran high bandwith operations and it has handled them remarkably well. Nothing was required except plugging the gygabit pc's into it.
