I use my printer in bursts so it sits unused for months sometimes
until I need to print out a hundred pages.I tried ink jets in the past but they all get nozzle clogging because of my infrequent use.
So I bit the bullet and decided to go for a laser,in this case a model I will grow into. I say that because the e450dn is faster and more feature rich than I really need at the moment but I'm loving the speed.From totally off (no 120v at all) to turn on and click print,the first page is averaging about 30-35 seconds and they just keep coming after that. The display is real helpful,the duplexing is great and I will be using the networking soon.Setup was a breeze and even without downloading the Vista drivers it is working great with Vista premium.My only minor complaints are like most lasers it is a bit big and unlike some other Lexmarks the color is a dark grey , not really black. But hey at this after rebate price what is not to like?

This printer has exceeded my expectations. It is very fast at printing, including the first page from it's sleep mode. I had tried the highly rated Brother 5250dn prior to the Lexmark 450dn. The Brother printer install was a problem and the machine malfunctioned. I returned the Brother and purchased the Lexmark 450dn. The install was a breeze, and I amazed at the speed and it's print quality. This is a very well designed printer. The ($...)rebate and Buy.com's low price makes this printer a no brainer, with nothing near it's quality for the price. The LCD screen is a huge bonus for a home B/W mono pritner.
