We are new to the digital world - just purchased our first digital camera - Sony DSC-P92 Cybershot --- as one customer noted above, it isn't very clear on the photo on this website that this memory stick is 128 X 2 --- but we purchased our first memory stick somewhere other than buy.com and it is very clear on the packaging (AND we paid quite a bit more than the price I see on this website today! - But we want more than one memory stick for our upcoming vacation.) My computer is older so I expected it to be complicated and time-consuming to see my pics - but it was VERY EASY and almost instant - We were so intimidated - but this little memory stick seems great! This memory stick is a great value for the price. The 128 x 2 doesn't bother me at all. Some people would consider this a nuisance. If you don't want the hassle of flipping a switch, then this is not for you. It really is no bother at all. I highly recommend this product. Was this review helpful?

This is a great memory card. I can insert extra twelve pictures on this card when compering to a single-sided 256MB. My single sided 256 MB takes only 91 pictures, when here I can save 51 pictures per side. This, of course varies depending on the camera and picture quality - I'm testing it on Sony F717. So it’s 5 Mega Pixels per picture (in High Quality)
It’s a good choice for the buck...:o)

That's what this is. The older products won't see a memory stick with a size greater than 128mb which is why this is known as the memory stick select. He is right about the switch, but think about it, it can be useful also. If you needed to sort out between business and personal, that switch will keep them seperate.
Newer cameras/laptops,clie's etc supports the newer media, memory stick pro (which comes in 512mb and 1gb)
Hope that helps. Was this review helpful?

This item is not really a single 256MB memory stick. It is two 128MB memory sticks with a switch on it. Once you fill up first 128MB section, you must take the card out of your camera and flip the switch to access the second 128MB section.
This really should have been made clear in the product description. Was this review helpful?

I don't know why the other reviews on this site gave this product such a low rating, this product is excellent! True, you do have to pull out the memory stick and switch it to the second 128MB bank when the first gets full. IT TAKES ABOUT 5 SECONDS to complete this task. SO WHAT! You'll easily pay more money for two stand alone 128MB sticks. Bottom Line: This 256MB stick rocks, it looks cool, and it comes with a 5 year warranty from Lexar. PICK ONE UP! Unlike memory stick pro, this does have 2 partitions of 128MB. Its ideal for those older Sony devices that only accept up to 128MB memory stick. Its also ideal for people who take pictures and does lots of preview. If you store lots of pictures on the memory stick (more than 128MB on the memory stick pro), it take a long time to generate all the thumbnail preview images for all the pictures. 2 partitions of smaller memory work pretty good in this case. I have a 512MB memory stick pro, it seems so much faster when my camera don't have to go thru 500MB of memory to get to my last 10 images (still pretty slow, sigh).
I found the value of this beats memory stick pro... and its compatible with my older digital camcorder and Clie. For minor inconvenience, its worth the trouble of flipping switch and not carrying additional memory stick. Was this review helpful?

This item is functional....except it is not really a 256M memory but a 128M X 2 memory. This means user doesn't get 256M in one piece, but in separate two partitions...128M each. When a user use up the first 128M, the memory stick has to be pulled out, flip a switch, then put back in order to use the second 128M. Those who need 256M in one piece may have to think about it.
