For those who do not want a long explanation for why I chose the ThinkPad T60 wide screen (T60 WS), the terse answer is as follows: I wanted a reliable well built laptop that had a high resolution screen for productivity, so the ThinkPad was at the top of my list. I can easily see this laptop lasting 5 years of heavy use and being retired for performance not reliability issues. The screen, keyboard, and build of this laptop are what make it a good laptop. The Lenovo T60 is an excellent machine. I use one at work and was impressed enough to buy one for home. The reason for my dissatisfaction is I received a CD-R/W drive instead of a DVD writer. When I contacted Buy.com, I was at first told to contact Lenovo directly in order to resolve the problem. After I complained that I thought Buy.com should handle it, I was told that I needed to return the entire computer. Since the drive is removable and Buy.com sells both types of drives, I wanted to swap out the CD-RW drive with the DVD writer. Also, I had already setup the computer and did not want to waste time setting up another one. Buy.com would not budge. As a result, my opinion is that Buy.com customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I won't be spending this kind of money at Buy.com again.
