4 of 5 Great value, solid build Monday, April 21, 2008

This is a great laptop for the cost, very solidly built. The screen is big (15.4"), even though the resolution is 1280x800. It comes with XP, which was what I was looking for, since I have a lot of older software. I'm pleasantly surprised how cool it runs. In fact, it's cooler than any laptop I've ever used (HP, Gateway, Dell, Asus). For $32, I added 2GB of RAM, and now 3GB is plenty for all the memory-hungry applications I use. Note that the R61i doesn't have a pad for the cursor, only the knob, but like most people, I use a USB mouse. It's got 3 USB ports, two on the right, and one on the left, which is convenient for attaching hard drives or cameras. The battery can last for 3+ hours for each charge. The laptop is a bit heavy and thick which is the only reason I gave an overall score of 4. Was this review helpful?
