The collection is set up chronologically, stopping to view various guitarists including Django Reinhardt, Les Paul, Carl Kress, and others, while showing a 15-year arc in the development of jazz guitar. The collection is filled with sublime playing, as one should expect, but also displays a time in music before virtuosic playing usurped the importance of quality songs as the main attraction for listeners, giving the rewards wonderful depth. ~ Gregory McIntosh |
