5 of 5 A Must for Led Zeppelin Fans Tuesday, July 29, 2003 bfmrazjr from Seaside, CA
If you have a choice between this DVD and "Song Remains the Same", choose this one. It's a slam dunk no-contest. This is Led Zeppelin at their musical and performance pinnacle of their career. 5 hours is not enough! This is better because the action is not rehearsed from the backstage and seeing them when they started out is by far better than "Special Effects" of "TSRTS". Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Are Zeppelin as good as we all remember? I'm too y Friday, May 30, 2003 zoso827 from Conestoga PA
All I have to say is that this DVD is nothing short of orgasmic. Led Zeppelin is a live, dynamic animal when performing, a living, breathing creative force, able to change the direction of composition, on a dime, whether it be to end it briefly, or paint a whole new unknown direction. Few bands can command their live show with such ruthless authority and swagger. Every frame is a revelation; Page playing with such burning passion, Robert Plant with a charismatic grip over the crowd, and of course the rock solid rhythm section of John Paul Jones and the late John Bonham. It is a wonder to see Jones playing a different instrument in what seems like every song (damn, is their anything he can't play), whether it be his Fender bass, a mandolin, or keyboards, and Bonham tearing up his kit with such a cannon like drum tone and endless barrage of syncopated fills. Even at the end of the second disc, during the 1979 set, with Page looking dangerously frail, a bloated Bonham, along with Plant (whose weathered face tells of the wear and tear of the decade), and a typically static John Paul Jones (who basically looks the same as the 1970 Royal Albert Hall set), it is wonderfully evident that they are at the top of their live peforming capacity. It is almost a crime that Page didn't release this material earlier; or maybe not. The praises of DVD media should ensure that this monument to the greatest live band of all time will stick around for a very, very long time; the necessity for future generations to experience this will come shortly after you pop it into your DVD player. Now go buy it already! Was this review helpful?

Aahh, Finally...The live DVD set that us true Zeppelin fans have been waiting for!
...It's apparent that a lot of thought & tedious work went into choosing the performances, and making it all sound great!
...
A collection of career-spanning live footage, plus bonus features which include interviews & promo music videos... it CAN'T get much better than this! ...
We can only pray that they'll release another similar set in time. ..
Meanwhile, I'll be wearing these DVDs out! ...
Buy your copy today!!
...Peace from Cleveland,

5 of 5 Better than Expected - This DVD Rocks Wednesday, May 28, 2003 Paul Molinario from New Orleans, Louisiana
If you are a Led Zeppelin fan you have to check out this DVD! The quality of the video is better than I thought it would be and the sound is great. This DVD is in 5.1 (unlike the current DVD version of "The Song Remains the Same") and you can tell Jimmy Page did his magic with the re-mastering and production. The concert footage from Royal Albert Hall is worth the price alone. The main concert footage is great, however, some of the extra clips are lacking in quality but are still interesting to watch. 5+ hours of video and audio for around $20 is a deal I couldn't pass up. For the majority of my life (I'm 30 now) I have listened and loved Led Zeppelin. I've always been taken back by the sheer power of John Bonham, the elegance and control of Jimmy Page, the thunderous vocals of Robert Plant, and the strong bass line of John Paul Jones. With the exception of "The Song Remains The Same", I've never had the opportunity to see them perform live, UNTIL NOW. Yesterday, on my way home from work, I picked up the Led Zeppelin DVD, and the new 3 disc compilation "How The West Was Won". I got home, sat on my couch, and turned on the DVD. From the minute it began I was absolutely speechless. All of the reasons I originally fell in love with Led Zeppelin were multiplied by their performance, and I can honestly say it was as if I was falling in love with them all over again. If you are going to buy a DVD, this is definitely a must have. Thank you Jimmy, John, Robert, and JPJ for all of the memories. Was this review helpful?
