The Leapster Multimedia Learning system teaches the way your child loves to play. Equipped with the interactive Leapster system and a library of skill-building Leapster Learning books, children can play action-packed learning games, read electronic storybooks, create works of art and watch educational videos. Students play while they learn essential Pre-K through 4th grade skills that include: reading, math, critical and creative thinking, story comprehension, vocabulary, and much more. Kids control all the action using a multidirectional control pad or a touch-sensitive stylus.

System is full-color and features a backlit screen for easy viewing, plus a headphone jack for quiet play. Leapster cartridges sold separately. Requires 4 "AA" alkaline batteries (not included).

This is so much fun for my four year old!!!!! Even my "too cool" 7 year old enjoys playing with the leapster. If you buy one make sure to have plenty of batteries!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was a little hesitant about getting any kind of system for my three year old, but I read the reviews and decided to try it. I am so glad that I did! He loves his leapster! He uses the stylus and the directional keys without any problems. It keeps him interested and occupied. We have the cartridge that came with it and also the Kindergarten cartridge. He switches between the two. If you are just thinking about it, get it. You too will be pleased.

My son is in Kindergarten and practices his letters and numbers. I have been able to use his Leapster to have him practice writing when paper is not available. He can also play games and learn without it feeling like learning.

I really can't say anything negative. My son, who just turned 5 this month, got this for Christmas. It's really great! The screen has stayed scratch free so far, unlike my daughters Pixter color, and it's lasting a long while with the rechargable batteries I bought to go with it. I would highly reccomend rechargable batteries. I am VERY pleased with this system.

My 4 year old son really, really likes his leapster. He's learning his numbers and having fun drawing and enjoys all the activities. We definitely have to have time out time for it as he would play with it all day if he could. The hints are helpful, the voice commands clear.

this product was not working when we recieved it. We called leapster christmas day and they tried to help us. We could not recalibrate it so they had to send a new one to us that took 3 weeks because of the holiday. We also have not recieved the rebate yet. It was easy to order the product from the site and easy return with leap frog.

This item is wonderful. We gave it to my daughter for Christmas, despite the fact that she never really loved the My First Leappad she received two years ago (she is now 4). Well, she takes it EVERYWHERE she goes, and hasn't gotten tired of any of the games. She continually challenges herself with new games, and new levels of difficulty, and has significantly improved her hand/eye coordination, as well as developed many other new skills. I am so glad we found this!

I bought this for my 3 year old daughter for Christmas and I must say it was one of my better investments. It is easy for her to use, survives being dropped, and teaches her numbers and letters. She plays this for hours. The only complaint I have is the games are kind of pricey.

The ads are a little misleading as I expected the leapster to have more functions than it does. I thought there would be more reading activities similar to LaeapPad, but indeed there are none. I also expected the Leapster to have minimal functions with no games, but it does require games to work at all. My kids really love this toy, but there is no variety without a purchase of more expensive games.

My 5 yr. old loves this toy. Not only is it fun but also educational. If I would let him, he'd play for hours at a time. The only things I don't like are that there need to be more games to choose from and the fact that you pretty much have to buy the recharger or go bankrupt buying batteries.

My 4 year old daughter loves the Leapster. It was a great toy to have on the Christmas vacation car ride. I like the rabbit game (sort of like Frogger), and my daughter loves the drawing activities and a game where you put together shapes to complete a picture. We also got the Disney game, which she loves. Most used toy from Christmas.

The unit had some problems with the screen popping after the 1st week, but Leap Pad support was wonderful. Tried trouble shooting on the phone then sent a new system us within 10 days. My 4 year old loves it, he's learning and thinks he's just playing video games.

Surprisingly, my 5 year old is still playing with this and it's almost the end of January--a small miracle. That's testimony that Leapster has captured some of the gaming interest while making it educational. However, he still prefers playing PS2 games with Dad, when allowed. The action that he craves is still not quite there with Leapster.

My 6 year old son likes this toy. He likes it just as well as his Gameboy and the games are educational games. Even his 3 year old sister likes to play games on it. One problem though is the screen seems to be defective. After only having it a couple weeks, some of the pixels went out on it and part of the screen looks yellow. We thought replacing the batteries would help but it didn't. But the kids enjoy playing with it. You can hook headphones to it so you can take it to doctors offices and other places and they can use it. We kept our 3 year old busy in a movie by letting her play it in there with the headphones on. It's nice them playing that instead of video games all the time because they're actually learning something.
