For over a decade this Emmy Award winning series has presented the investigation and prosecution of cases ripped straight from today's headlines. With a celebrated cast that includes Michael Moriarty (Along Came a Spider), George Dzundza (Basic Instinct), Chris Noth (Sex and the City), Richard Brooks (The Crow: City of Angels), Dann Florek (Law & Order: SVU) and Steven Hill (The Firm) and featuring such notable guest stars as John Spencer (The West Wing), Cynthia Nixon (Sex and the City), William H. Macy (Fargo) Gil Bellows (Ally McBeal), Philip Seymour Hoffman (Red Dragon) and Christine Baranski (Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas). Editor's Note
Law & Order, NBC's long running crime drama, has succeeded largely because it has a formula that emphasizes story over character. Each show begins with the police discovering a crime, and for the first half-hour two detectives (here it's Noth and Dzundza) wade through the evidence to come up with a prime suspect. The second half hour follows the suspect to trial and is told from the DA's point of view to allow the show to dissect the intricacies of the US legal system. Staying topical by taking cases straight from current headlines, Law & Order is no less compelling when seen long after the real life events have faded from the headlines, thanks in large part to its terrific cast and its intelligent and involving writing. This program contains the complete second season of the series.

5 of 5 The L & O Dynasty Monday, August 04, 2008 Susan from Albany, New York
This season introduced Paul Sorvino and the paternal interaction between him and Chris Noth is interesting. Sorvino only lasted one season, before the great Jerry Orbach made the role his own. It's fun to watch the character of Logan mature over the years. In this season, he's very young, mouthy, and tough. Currently, Noth plays Logan on L & O: Criminal Intent, and he's the older, wiser character, advising his hotshot partner. I can't think of a Law And Order season that I wouldn't add to my collection, and Year Two is no exception. Was this review helpful?
