I have a 13" Macbook that I use all the on the time throughout the house. While most of the time I'm able to bear the heat from the laptop, after prolonged use I find it can become extremely uncomfortable. I was searching for something that would take care of this problem for me, but never seemed to be able to find anything that worked well on a lap. Most products seemed to be for the desk. This fit the bill, and is not only very comfortable, but can double as a writing pad, and even works well as a TV dinner table.
The top looks like it is leather, and the bottom is a kind of stretchy material with small beads in it. The bottom part can also be removed, in case you did want to use it as a writing pad without the additional bulk of the pillow.
All in all, a great purchase, and one that I haven't regretted. Was this review helpful?

I use this product every day. It keeps my lap cool when using my laptop. I'll use it when using my laptop on the couch or bed and the beaded bag keeps the heat from the laptop from getting through to my lap. It's large enough to accommodate my laptop which is 17" wide. The lap mat is awesome. That pretty much sums it all up! The design of it is great, the surface is a composite leather material that grips your computer and gives it great stability if you make a sudden movement. The absolute best part though is the fact that you can actually use your computer and not get burned! Who would have thought, a laptop actually going on your lap! This device is also comfortable to use, it comes with a detachable pillow that goes under the mat and rests on your legs. I use the lap mat when I'm at home and using my laptop while on the couch or bed. My laptop gets so hot it's a relief to prop it up above my lap and let the heat escape. The top of the mat is a little "grippy" so it's not a surface that the laptop will easily slide off of.
I wish there were more padding in the pillow, but it gets the job done.
