Since Aloha Bob is not longer available for transferring programs from XP to Vista, I tried PCMover. Program installed easily and seemed to work without a hitch (it gave me a chance to select programs that I wanted transfered). The files and programs transfered but programs would not run on Vista. Restored Vista system and tried Windows Easy Transfer Companion. Received same results as with PCMover but at least Easy Transfer Companion was free. Was this review helpful?

I read so many mixed reviews on this software, but had such a good experience that I had to write. For those who had problems, you really didn't read the instructions. It is so dead easy if you just follow the instructions. Everything you need is right on the screen.
We migrated two computers. One of them stopped migrating with about 30% to go due to a power problem. But when we restarted the software it knew where it had left off and offered to pick up right there... and continued unerringly to completion. Now THAT is quality software.
READ THE INSTRUCTIONS... you really can't go wrong if you do. It's first rate stuff. 30 minutes after migration and reloading a couple of hardware drivers, we were back in business. Was this review helpful?

The documentation does not tell you that ALL files will be moved from old to new P.C. I didn't want all files moved. I would have preferd a pick and choose option. After running 1st time, I had to undo (nice feature) from new PC and delete files,programs,etc from old PC and run again. So far the new PC is running fine and I have all I wanted moved from old PC. I was skeptical but decided to give it a try anyway. I was intending to transition all the programs, files and settings from my wife’s 7 year old Dell Latitude CPx running Windows 2000 Server to her new Dell Inspiron 1505 running Windows XP Media Center Edition. She was running three different versions of QuickBooks Pro with several different clients’ data in each of them and we did not want to have to reload and re-register all of them, not to mention Microsoft Office 2000 Professional and various other accounting, investing and tax programs. We installed and ran PC Mover on each computer, obtained the registration key online and started the transfer. After we finished and rebooted the new computer, all of the programs were up and running, including her Thomas Kincaid wallpaper and screen saver. The only thing we had to do was put the Office 2000 Pro CD in the drive to verify we had a legitimate copy. My only complaint at all is the USB Laplink cable is USB version 1.2 and is slow. You can use a network connection but for this one it was easier for me to use the USB cable and watch a movie while it did it's transfer. Note: the program is only good for one transfer between one pair of computers. In order to do more, you need to buy another license or another copy. I will be buying more licenses to use when I upgrade friends computers in the future. The cost is well worth the time saved. Was this review helpful?

I installed PC Mover according the directions. Once installed, it took about 1 hours to move all of the files from old to new computer. I was impressed the program performed as promised. Was this review helpful?
