This product is good writing blank CD and DVD. However when it comes to reading a movie DVD or an software DVD, it makes very loud noise. Other than the noise it's good product.

This unit works for what I intended it for. I purchased a mini laptop that did not have a CD or DVD drive (size)...so I needed to be able to install software or make DVD's when I need to. Great drive would recommend.

4 of 5 A good lightscribe DVD burner Friday, October 24, 2008

I read the reviews saying it was noisy, but I did not expect it to spontaneously make noise. I have only used Verbatim lightscribe CDRs, and they turn out nice. I guess I misunderstood that the lightscribe do color as they really only provide a grayscale image, but the labeling is still nice. I downloaded the drivers from the internet and was able to get it going on a EEEPC900 windows computer. It seemed to be a little confusing to setup, but I was able to get the DVD burner working with windows XP, as well as with my Macbook running osx10.4.11. It is a nice light drive, and does feel as though it can be broken easily, but it was reasonably priced and so far has performed the way I expected. I didn't get much in the way of burning software for the mac, though, and this caused problems as I was learning to use this product.

Despite it's small size it is a powerhouse. Performs all functions exactly as described. Fast and reliable. Include software is an almost complete copy of the last version of Roxio Easy Creator.
