This is my first external hard drive, other than pulling one from a PC and putting inside a separately purchased enclosure. I love the design -- the blue light and clean lines of the black case -- and 500GB for <$85 is a great bargain! Extremely easy to connect, no issues. I bought this hard drive to use with Time Machine on my Mac Mini. It runs flawlessly, speed and performance is good and set up was fairly simple.
The design of the hard drive is a nice bonus and it's size is not invasive to a desktop.

It's hard to not like this black beauty from Lacie. Might disappoint a few with its rather obvious box shape but then, it works for me!
Been almost 4 days now, ease of use and simple setup. The 500Gb actually turns out to be 465Gb after all the calculation of bits & bytes and in the end, you have to give up the 35Gb.
Stays pretty cool (it's 70F inside the house), slightly on the noisier side.
The blue light, ummm, haven't really turned it on in the dark, so I can't comment.
Pros: Ease of use, stays cool, looks awesome.
Cons: Slightly on the noisier side (with its whirring even when idle). Was this review helpful?
