Excellent product. My 1st was a 750 GB USB External for Time Machine on my Apple iMac and it works incredible just like all my Apple products have since 1993. Then, my iTunes library was growing so large over 120GB, that I decided to get a 500 GB Firewire which is this one for just the iTunes Library and man, it is a great decision. Now, everything I import or purchase from iTunes or where ever I get the content is stored on the 2nd LaCie External Hard Drive and does not take up space on my iMac - only the shows, songs, movies etc. I want current is in the iMac Library. Also, I have the LaCie 7 Port 2.0 USB Hub - it is by far the best on the market! So with that I now, finally have 9 USB and 1 400 Firewire and 1 800 Firewire. The amazing thing about the iMac is all of the USB ports are used and the 400 Firewire and it never slows down, not a moment! Apple ROCKS! Was this review helpful?

I bought this drive not solely for the amount of storage space (I could have gotten a 750gb or 1TB external), the disk speed, or even the 3 different connections it supports. I got it because it looks sooooo nice and it was relatively cheap considering its specs. After formatting the drive your left with 465gb of free space. LaCie put of the manuals, drivers, and backup software on the drive itself. You pretty much just plug it in and the on board wizard does it the rest for you. The drive has two Firewire 400 ports (one for connecting to you PC and one for daisy chaining other firewire devices. The piano black finish on the hard drive is a finger print collector so keep a soft cloth near by if you want it to always look nice. All in all the drive is funtional, practical, and darn good looking. It fits my setup just right. Was this review helpful?
