I have 2 of these Lacie Drives ( 500 GB and 1 TB ). First one I used to create a bootable mac drive before I upgraded to Leopard. The second one I am using as Time Machine Backup. It was extremely easy to use. I am very happy with buy.com since the product was shipped the next day and I had it within couple of days. I would highly recommend buy.com

1 of 5 No more LaCies for me Monday, June 15, 2009

This one lasted 6 months before I got an error message saying it can't be repaired so I can't ad or delete anything on it. I have 630G of videos on it which I now have to transfer to a new external drive (not a LaCie) and see if this can be reformatted otherwise it's trash. This is the second LaCie that this has happen to, reminds me of the buggy Iomega Zip Drives.

Solid, fast (with Esata connection), easy to use, comes with cables. No problems so far. Didn't use the built-in software -- just plugged it in and ran with the Vista backup. Actual storage space is less than 1TB due to the onboard programs -- so if you need the entire volume you can probably move them off. I'm new to Esata and it doesn't appear to be hot-swappable. You have to plug in the drive, turn it on, and restart your computer. No biggie. At least 2x faster than USB 2. Couldn't test the Firewire speed because my laptop has a 4-pin connector and the drive came with 6-pin cables. All in all very happy with it. Looks like the price has gone up 50% since I bought it--keep your eyes peeled for a sale.
