 Editor's Note
Fifteen-year-old Sarah (Jennifer Connelly) is so resentful of her baby brother Toby that she hopes he will just disappear. Her dream becomes reality when goblins kidnap the boy--but Sarah unexpectedly finds herself horrified by the loss. So she sets forth to retrieve him, and finds herself on the adventure of a lifetime. To accomplish her task, she will somehow have to reach the center of the fantastical labyrinth where the wicked Goblin King (David Bowie, who performs two songs) has imprisoned the lad. But the task is easier said than done, for the maze is filled with strange creatures and mind-bending puzzles that confuse the girl. Directed by Jim Henson and penned by Monty Python's Terry Jones, LABYRINTH is a distinctive, beautifully designed dark fantasy for all ages.

Entertaining variation on Alice in Wonderland written by Monty Python's Terry Jones, executive produced by George Lucas, and filtered through the sensibilities of The Muppets' Jim Henson. A treat for kids and the young at heart (Muppet fans in particular); only weakness is that it does get slow at times. - Leonard Maltin

5 of 5 Labyrinth Review Sunday, September 19, 2004 SilentTears from Universal City
*Sigh* Did I say I like fantasy? Cause that is what this is. It is a fantasy trip to another 'world', where Sara (the main character) has to find her baby brother through a maze, which the goblin king (David Bowie /Jared) has taken to become a goblin because of a wish that his older sister accidentally said while she was mad, go figure, huh? But while doing so she discovers that it isn't as easy as it looks, there are secrets, and the walls keep changing her paths, as well as strange creatures that turn up out of nowhere, but who is friend, and who is foe? And will Sara find her baby brother before her 13 hours are up? Or will her baby brother be forever doomed to serve as a goblin? I love the songs, as well as the costumes in this one ((Especially David Bowie's! ^^))!!! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Visual Eye Candy Monday, March 06, 2000 SRFireside from Austin, TX
Next to The Dark Crystal and Storyteller series, this is Jim Henson's greatest work. You really step into another world with this one. The visuals are dazzling. Jennifer Connely and David Bowie did a great job. And of course the non-human actors (I refuse to call them puppets)are impressive even in today's standards. The DVD has a great production documentary (full length, unlike the VHS version)and in depth cast notes. I strongly recommend this movie to any fantasy lover. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 The Best! My Favorite of all time! Thursday, February 10, 2000 Cat from WA State
This movie is a must see! I saw it when it came out in the 80's. I fell in love, and became a David Bowie Fan for life. Children love the Characters like Ludo(it was one of Jim Hensons last films), teens relate to Sara, and the child at heart will belive Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Fantastic Children's Movie and Friday, October 22, 1999 D. M. from Pearl River, NY
Jim Henson at his best with Magical Puppets galore. David Bowie and Jennifer Connelley make this children's movie jump-magic-jump! Attached to the DVD is a lengthy, well done 'making-of' the movie which is a great tribute to Jim Henson's talent in movie magic(As good as the movie itself ! ). Was this review helpful?
