| Everyone's favorite hardcore female rapper returns with her hottest and hardest effort to date. La Bella Mafia sees Lil' Kim joined by such high-profile guests as Missy Elliot, Method Man, Styles P. Governor, Twista, and Mashonda Tifere, with beats and grooves created by some of today's hottest hip hop producers, including Timbaland, Havoc (Nas, Mobb Deep), Scott Storch (The Roots, Busta Rhymes), Kanye West (Jay-Z, Talib Kweli), and Swizz Beatz (Mary J. Blige, DMX, Ruff Ryders). The album--which follows 2000's RIAA platinum certified The Notorious K.I.M.--proves Lil' Kim to be a multi-faceted superstar with unlimited potential, an icon whose irresistible persona looms larger than ever before. "...easily the strongest thing she's done..." Dot Music "...Kim sounds more forceful and engaged than she's been in years." Rolling Stone "Like a prize fighter coming into her own, Lil' Kim finally realizes her true potential..." Billboard

With her notorious, larger-than-life image, it's easy to forget that the Queen Bee's still got the pipes to back up her undeniable swagger on her third offering LA BELLA MAFIA. | | Kim's outspoken style is just the thing for belting out boasts like "I'm the real thing, y'all karaoke stars" on "This Is Who I Am" or issuing a song-long threat ("someone's gonna get in your house and put the (click) right in your mouth), the embodiment of a '30s gangster moll, on "This Is a Warning." Her commandeering, overwhelming sexuality is still alive and potent on "The Jump Off" featuring a guest shot by Mr. Cheeks, and she kicks down doors with Missy Elliott on a brazen declaration of self with the catchy "Can You Hear Me Now?" | Musical Guests | | Missy Elliott | | 50 Cent | | Havoc | | Mr. Cheeks | | Twista | | Full Force | | Governor | | Shelene Thomas | | Lil' Shanice | | Mashonda | | Swizz Beatz | | Styles P. | | Big Hill | | Reeks | | Saint | | Vee | | Bunky S.A. |

| | Professional Reviews | | Spin (5/03, p.110) - "...Kim slips into the latest Manolos instead, spitting sass all over the hottest tracks big money can buy..." - Grade: BEntertainment Weekly (3/28/03, p.68) - "...On her latest party set, she proves her talents don't end with porno come-ons..." - Rating: B E! Online How is it that the Notorious B.I.G. still claims executive producer credit six years after being six feet under? That's just one of the mysteries on Kim's first album in three years. What's more jarring is how the feisty rapper has toned down the smut and gone on the defensive. Aside from some cool collaborations with Missy Elliott, Twista and Method Man, Kim spends most of the album lecturing her fans with less-than-stimulating lines like, "I'm the first rap bitch to shake up the charts/I'm the reason this rap game is unisex." Seems she forgot that Salt-N-Pepa and Queen Latifah were ruling while she was still learning the alphabet.
